The Norwegian gothic metal band Tristania has several new members for their latest CD Rubicon. Mariangela Demurtas and Kjetil Nordhus are the new vocalists, and also joining the band in the past few years are bassist Ole Vistnes (Green Carnation, Zerozonic) and guitarist Gyri Smørdal Losnegaard. Former session drummer Tarald Lie, Jr. is now a permanent member. Vistnes runs down all the lineup changes for us, along with the making of the new CD (which he co-produced), their tour plans and other topics.

Legendary German metal band Accept will return to tour the U.S. for the first time in 14 years on a co-headlining tour with King’s X.  Their first show will kick-off the eleventh annual ProgPower USA festival in Atlanta. Accept’s 2010 lineup includes Wolf Hoffmann on guitar, Peter Baltes on bass, Stefan Schwarzmann on drums, Herman Frank on guitar and Mark Tornillo on vocals. Blood Of The Nations, Accept’s twelfth full-length studio album will be released in North America on September 14th.

Thrash metal titans of the highest possible caliber converged upon the Long Beach Arena. The American Carnage Tour, co-headlined by Slayer and Megadeth, detonated in the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California, on August 30th, 2010. Providing strong support on this leg of the tour were Testament, Bay Area thrash giants in their own right.   Check out Dave Schalek’s concert review and photos.

Summer is ending with a bang.  June was a great month for new metal releases, July not so much, and August rebounds with another really strong month.    Iron Maiden tops the monthly list, a spot they are no stranger to.  The rest of the list is a mix of the stoner/doom sound of The Sword, the slick power metal of Blind Guardian, the southern flavored metalcore of The Showdown and the more underground sound of Negura Bunget.
