New Jersey-based instrumental hardcore outfit NY In 64 will present expansive second album, “The Gentle Indifference Of The Night,” this May 26th through Magic Bullet Records.
The follow-up to 2015’s self-titled debut documents NY In 64 pushing the sonic template to new heights, realizing an even more refined and uniquely inspired style of instrumental hardcore aggression. The hooks are bigger, the musicianship has broken through the ceiling, the dynamics are deeper and far more textured.
The album’s guitars and bass were recorded by Chris Alfano at Volume Fact, with the drums and additional guitars recorded by John Ferrara at Portrait Recording Studios. The record was mixed by Scott Evans at Antisleep Audio, and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East, and its layout completed with photography by Justin Hock and layout by the band and Brent Eyestone.
1. Couldn’t Be Saved 2. The Endless Spiral 3. It Gets Worse 4. Don’t Breathe Out 5. 50 Lbs. Of Ash 6. Her Chosen Hell

Ottawa, ON doom metal trio Longhouse today offers up a full stream premiere of sophomore album “II: Vanishing,” which is due out digitally on Friday, April 14th (plus will be available on physical cassette via Sunmask Records in June).
“II: Vanishing” follows the band’s 2015 debut album “Earth from Water,” a spiritual odyssey into the perseverance of the human spirit and the lessons we can learn from the natural world.
Returning to Wolf Lake Studios to record with Mike Bond (Loviatar, Norilsk, Arms of the Girl) once again as producer and engineer, “II: Vanishing” continues the progression of that previous debut while retaining the band’s core sound of heavy, intricate riffs, splashed with a touch of post-metal to guide you on a dark and visceral journey spanning nearly 40 minutes over five tracks.
The band comments: “’II: Vanishing’ has a logical evolution that is evident in the composition, as well as production. I also think that fans should take a moment to reflect on some of themes that are threaded throughout the album. The bulk of my ideas musically and lyrically come from exploring Indigenous ways of knowing.
“I am Algonquin First Nations. My family’s community is Kitigan Zibi, outside of Maniwaki, QC. However, I grew up in the city, mostly detached from my culture. As a father, I have been trying to immerse myself in the stories, wisdom, and strength of our Elders, knowledge keepers and story tellers, so that I can pass that on to my daughters. Because this takes up so much space in terms of who I am, and who I am becoming, it plays a very large part in terms of influences I draw upon.”
1. Hunter’s Moon (8:38) 2. Vanishing (6:13) 3. Blood And Stone (5:57) 4. No Name, No Marker (7:59) 5. The Vigil (10:06)

At its purest, there is little that can match the visceral thrill and empowering spirit of hardcore. As front-man of New York City hardcore kings Cro-Mags, this is something John Joseph knows very well, and with Up In Arms, he and his Bloodclot compatriots deliver a furious collection that hits hard on every level. From the moment the opening title track explodes to life, it’s clear that everyone involved is having a blast and playing from the heart, and that this is no frills / no bullshit music at its most passionate. “In this band we’re doing what each of us have always done: give it our all,” John Joseph states plainly. “We work hard, and we have a lot to say. Look around the planet – people are fed up with the corrupt ruling class. They destroy the planet and kill millions for profit, and the formula for our response is simple: Anger + applied knowledge = results. Don’t just bitch. Change it.”
Stay tuned for more news about Up In Arms coming soon!
