Sweden’s doom wizards from Avatarium will deliver third studio album “Hurricanes And Halos” on May 26th and today the band reveals a first studio trailer for the release.

In this clip, you can witness recordings at the Gröndahl Studios, while singer Jennie-Ann Smith and guitarist Marcus Jidell discuss the songwriting process and the arrangements of these eight new tracks.

Pre-orders for “Hurricanes And Halos” can be found here. Once again, Avatarium relioes on beauty and darkness, heavy guitars and fragile sounds, unique female vocals and the mystic vintage blues sound from the 60s, while still staying on modern ground and trusting into the haunting soul of doom rock.

Six out of the eight new tracks were forged by Candlemass wizard Leif Edling, but guitar master Marcus Jidell and singer Jennie-Ann Smith also contributed to the songwriting and formed a worthy successor to “The Girl With The Raven Mask” that topped multiple soundchecks in 2015 and earned the “Up And Coming” award from German Metal Hammer.

Detroit noise rock unit Child Bite is readying for part two of a U.S. live assault supporting labelmates Superjoint.

The tour will make its way west from San Antonio, Texas on April 21st and run through May 14th in Dallas, Texas. Additional support will be provided by fellow Motor City thrashers Battlecross.

Prior to the journey, Child Bite will play the annual Berserker Fest this Saturday in Pontiac, Michigan. An event organized by Chile Bite frontman Shawn Knight, the performance will find the eclectic collective sharing the stage with the likes of Gwar, Weedeater, The Obsessed, Brain Tentacles and many more. Just four days later the band will then perform a one off show in Evansville, Illinois before joining up with Uncle Phil and co for another round of roadbound shenanigans.

Comments Knight: “We haven’t done a full west coast tour since last summer with Voivod, so of course we are excited to head that way next week with Superjoint and Battlecross. Lucky for Texas, Anselmo and co always have a collective boner for that state so we will be hitting them again on this trip. Where else… Colorado for three days! Many edibles will be consumed, so expect those shows to be extra psychedelic. The whole thing will be a real humdinger and a gosh darn hoot and a half, I promise you.”

4/15/2017 Berserker IV @ The Crofoot – Pontiac, MI
4/19/2017 PG – Evansville, IL w/ Off-Ox

Liverpool experimental collective Loathe today releases debut full-length album, “The Cold Sun,” today on SharpTone Records. The album is available for purchase here.

In conjunction with today’s release, Loathe has also premiered a brand new video for the song “East of Eden,” which can be viewed below. Talking about the new record’s debut, guitarist Erik Bickerstaffe says:

“Viewing the release of ‘The Cold Sun’ is something that at one point seemed a lifetime away. Now that the time has come, we have never been more infatuated or enthusiastic about our collective effort before. We hope you thoroughly enjoy what we 5 have worked ever so tirelessly on.”

A concept record, “The Cold Sun” features a compelling 35 minute long meandering into the depths of a dark, post-apocalyptic tale. The record follows the adjacent timeline of two protagonists, who exist during a dystopian future stricken by tragedy. The record was recorded at Glow In The Dark Studios in Atlanta, Georgia under the watchful eye of producer Matt McClellan.

Kelly Keagy, the drummer, co-lead vocalist and co-founder of multi-platinum and long-running band Night Ranger, is taking a temporary leave of absence from the band during April and May as he recovers from a successful heart procedure.

Veteran drummers Deen Castronovo (formerly of Journey/Bad English) and Fred Coury (Cinderella) will sit in for Keagy for the next 6 weeks during the band’s 35th anniversary world tour, which coincides with the release of 11th studio album, “Don’t Let Up.”

Keagy issued the following statement: “I’ve dealt with a heart abnormality my entire life. At the recommendation of my doctors, I decided to undergo a procedure that will allow me to come back even stronger. I’ve asked the guys in the band to go ahead with the tour, and I’m looking forward to rejoining them on the road as soon as I can. I’m grateful for the support and prayers of my family, my bandmates, and our fans, which have meant everything to me as I’ve gone through this process.”

Keagy is now at home continuing his recovery, which is expected to take six weeks. Night Ranger’s Jack Blades (lead vocals, bass), Brad Gillis (lead & rhythm guitars), Keri Kelli (lead & rhythm guitars), and Eric Levy (keyboards) issued the following statement:

“We support and applaud Kelly’s decision to put his health first and undergo this treatment now so he can be back at full strength as quickly as possible. While it will be strange being out on the road without our brother Kelly for the first time in the band’s history, we take comfort in knowing it’s a temporary situation, and he’ll be back soon even stronger to continue the 35th anniversary world tour.

“We’re grateful to our buddies Deen and Fred, for agreeing to step in as guest drummers for Night Ranger during Kelly’s short hiatus (Deen will perform at the May shows and Fred will perform at the April shows). They’ve both been good friends of the band for years, and it’ll be great to be rockin’ America with them while Kelly recuperates.

“We know our fans join us in sending their thoughts and prayers to Kelly and his family as he recovers from his procedure, and we look forward to reuniting with him on the road very soon as we celebrate the release of ‘Don’t Let Up’ and the 35th anniversary world Tour rolls on.”
