Norwegian death / doom crew Among Gods is now streaming new single “Vinter,” which can be heard in the SoundCloud player below. The band comments:

“Alongside penning down songs for our next release, we have been working on mixing a song from our doom vault. ‘Vinter’ from the ‘Monument’ album sessions been mixed in Consternation Studio and features Gunnhild Huser on vocals along with Kenneth’s voice. ‘Vinter’ (Winter in English) is titled and sung in Norwegian language.

“Gunnhild joined us on this song with her delicate voice and hearing her sing these words in Norwegian bring us back to the early 90´s, with a 3rd & The Mortal vibe. Based on the feeling of the harsh cold nature during a Norwegian winter, the song stands out as an atypical AG song but with the true norwegian roots deep in our hearts.”

In related news, the band now officially welcomes Andreas Johansen & Jonis Forland to the Among Gods ranks with this statement: “They are both in the band Ashowa, Andreas join us on drums and Jonis on bass and we are very pleased to make this announcement. We now have full focus putting together a new live set, and there will be gigs ahead. After this we will again start working on writing new songs for the forthcoming AG album… doom over the world!”

The organizers of Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards, fueled by Monster Energy, are thrilled to reveal this year’s first wave of performing artists! The 2017 APMAs look beyond a single style of music to produce an entertaining evening for just about any music fan.

This year’s APMAs feature performances by Against Me!, No. 1 charting platinum stars All Time Low, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness (solo project of the Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin frontman spawning alt-rock charting singles “Cecilia and the Satellite” and “Fire Escape”), rap icons Bone Thugs, multi-platinum Grammy Award winning group Korn, Cleveland native and award-winning actor/rapper Machine Gun Kelly, horror-rock favorites New Years Day, massive award-winning Japanese rock group One OK Rock, acclaimed group Pierce The Veil, Billboard chart-topping rock radio darlings The Pretty Reckless and chart-dominating melodic rockers Sleeping With Sirens.

More artists are set to be announced soon. Korn’s Jonathan Davis states, “We’re really excited to perform at this year’s awards and are looking forward to seeing all our fans in Cleveland. I performed at the first ever APMAs back in 2014 with Asking Alexandria and it’s been awesome to watch how this show has grown over the years.”

Vancouver’s Ninjaspy released lastest album “Spüken” last week, which was again produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mudvayne, Gallows) and Ben Kaplan (Biffy Clyro, Atreyu, Haste the Day).

In celebration of its relesae, a full stream premiere of the album has come online and can be heard below. Vocalist / guitarist Joel Parent comments:

“‘Spüken’ is the musical equivalent of a magician removing his own entrails. The guts just keep coming, like handkerchiefs from a sleeve, and its painful, colourful and cathartic all at once, in the same way that vomiting after hours of nausea is such a relief. The musical ideas that came together in this project span many years and come from many influences. Hearing them all together is a trip.

“There were a lot of hard times in the years while this record was being written and most, if not all of these songs are tied together by the search for something greater than oneself. Empowerment by going through ones pain, all this is woven into an album that is another spastic stylistic roller coaster not unlike our previous albums, but with smoother blending.

“From song to song there is a lot of variance, but within songs we have managed to take contrasting genres and combine them in more nuanced ways, with less hard cuts. This album is colourful, and the palette is dark.”
