Germany’s cult label Ván Records has sanctioned a partnership in the U.S. forging a new branch of the company to deliver the diverse catalog to more stateside listeners. Alongside the announcement, the label has also released new singles from The Ruins Of Beverast and Slaegt.

Having released over two-hundred albums, singles, EPs, splits, and more from across the realms of metal and rock since being founded in 2004, Ván Records has been largely responsible for the worldwide proliferation of acts such as The Devil’s Blood, Urfaust, King Dude, and countless others.

Now, Ván Records’ owner Sven Dinninghoff has furthered the label’s relationship with King Dude founder TJ Cowgill to help launch the new U.S. division of the entity out of Seattle. This new branch of Ván sees the catalog now distributed stateside through Revolver, making these titles much more accessible to fans across North America and beyond.

The first wave of titles to see U.S. release through this new deal will strike on May 19th, including new LPs from The Ruins Of Beverast, Slaegt, Gold, and Dread Sovereign, with many more to follow. A Ván Records retail shop will also be launched this Summer.

Cowgill states, “I am honored and proud to be a part of the ever growing Ván Records family, from working at first with Sven as an artist on the roster to now, becoming an integral part of the family as head of the label’s U.S. office. We have been planning this expansion now for over almost eight months, and seeing it come to life has been a truly awesome experience. Our dedicated staff and myself hope that through this expansion we will bring even more quality and excellence known from Ván into the lives of every single fan, record store and distributor in North America. Hail the glory of Lucifer!”

Formed in 2015, Russian instrumental prog / death group Dark Matter Secret was founded by guitarist/composer Denis Shvarts and fretless bassist Pavel Semin (new member of Irreversible Mechanism, ex-Arhideus) and initially released debut two-song effort, “Xenoform.”

The quality of the music on “Xenoform” captured the interest of rising extreme metal label The Artisan Era, which recently signed the group, leading to forthcoming album “Perfect World Creation,” which is set for release on June 2nd.

“Perfect World Creation” is a concept album revolving around the creation of the universe, dissecting that theme from both scientific and mythological points of view. Joining the band on “Perfect World Creation” is Arkona drummer Andrey Ischenko – check out a teaser trailer below unveiling the cover artwork.

Bloodstock has six more bands lined up for the Sophie Lancaster stage this year: Leeds metal trio Blind Haze, Italian power/classic metal outfit, Arthemis, sludgy groove beasts Gods, symphonic goth outfit Season’s End, Bristol progressive rockers Endeavour and classic rock n’ rollers, Blind River.

The festival’s organizers further comment: “We’re also thrilled to welcome back as sponsors of the Sophie Lancaster stage for 2017. Check out their Spotify playlist of bands on the Sophie stage and get excited for August!

“Bloodstock’s ever tenacious search for the best breaking bands culminates soon with the kick off of the ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ finals on 22nd April. The festival’s incentive to give up-and-coming acts a break by offering slots on the bill at Catton Park has helped give many acts a career launchpad and the finals see the M2TM team narrowing it down and picking their winners for 2017.

“This year, M2TM ran in 29 UK regions, plus events in Ireland and Norway to find bands for the New Blood Stage. Attendees at the finals can also win weekend festival tickets or prizes from our sponsors, Kraken rum and Hobgoblin ale. The lucky bands winning a slot on the New Blood stage will also be in with a chance of landing extra goodies from our friends at Gibson Guitars, Studiomaster & Carlsbro or recording time with Russ Russell at his Parlour Studios in Northampton.”

Eric Wagner is a unique and legendary voice in the doom scene, and M-Theory Audio is pleased to announce the release of his next Blackfinger album, “When Colors Fade Away,” this coming summer.

Renowned and still cherished for the classic material he recorded with Chicago’s Trouble for over two decades, in recent years Wagner has been focusing on a couple other promising new bands in a similar vein and one of those is Blackfinger. Now relocated to Pittsburgh, Eric has a new full band lineup and is joined in Blackfinger for a sophomore album by another respected name in doom metal circles: guitarist Terry Weston of Dream Death/Penance.

“I’m extremely excited to announce that Blackfinger has signed with M-Theory Audio,” cites Eric Wagner. “It is an honor and a pleasure to work with Marco Barbieri again after all these years.”

“Eric, the pleasure is all mine,” responds M-Theory Audio’s Marco Barbieri. “Eric Wagner is a true artist, talent and storyteller. I’ve spent the last 34 years listening to classic tales weaved by this man; and he is truly one of my favorite vocalists. Along the way I’ve had the pleasure of working with Eric and Trouble while at Century Media during their Plastic Green Head album cycle and even had his other band, The Skull, headline one of the Doom in June Festivals. Now our co-operation and friendship continues and I am fortunate to release the new and phenomenal Blackfinger album.”

Ulsect has released another new track off the band’s forthcoming self-titled album: check out the band’s take on dissonant blackened death metal with “Unveil” below.

Regarding this new track, the band comments: “Our song ‘Unveil’ speaks of scorned omens and the revelation of inevitable consequence. The chaos and sudden transitions that initiate this track are contrasted by a moment of clarity, ultimately leading to a crushing and repetitive mantra; a symbolization of the vicious cycle in which death is a necessity for life to bloom.”

Ulsect features Joris Bonis and Jasper Barendregt of Dodecahedron as well as former Textures bass player Dennis Aarts. The band’s eponymous debut album will be released on May 12th via Season Of Mist, with the track listing as follows:

1. Fall to Depravity (streaming here)
2. Our Trivial Toil
3. Diminish
4. Moirae
5. Unveil
6. An Augury
7. The Endling
8. Maunder

Ulsect further announces two special live appearances in May, playing alongside Dodecahedcron in Tilburg and Utrecht.

May 19 Tilburg, NL @ 013
May 21 Utrecht, NL @ Tivoli de Helling

Connecticut-based group Eyes Of The Dead just issued the following statement about parting ways with the band’s guitarist after one final show at the end of April:

“If you hadn’t already heard, our guitarist Rob ‘Hobbit’ Moore is expecting another child this summer, and with that comes all the family responsibilities that need to take top priority in life. With that Hobbit has made the difficult decision to step down as our guitarist in order to put all his focus into his growing family.

“It’s been a year since Hobbit first came back into EOTD, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the time and work he has put in with us, and thank him for that. It will be sad to have him leave our ranks, but everyone understands that it’s what’s best for him in his life right now, and wish him the best for everything he has coming.

“Keep an eye out for some more news on who he will be passing the torch to as our new guitarist, that will all be announced soon enough. In the mean time, follow the link here to Nasty Fest at Cherry St in Wallingford on the 29th. This will not only be Hermon VonRolls last show with Nasty Disaster, but also Hobbits very last show with Eyes of the Dead. It’s truly a night you will not want to miss out on!”
