The Fifth Alliance – a doom / sludge from Breda, The Netherlands – is now parting ways with drummer Ashwin, who issued this statement online:

“Alright folks, here’s quite an announcement: I’ve decided to call it quits as drummer of The Fifth Alliance. After 6-7 years of going full force with the band I have come to the conclusion that my interests have shifted. For the last year and a half up until now I have been experiencing a process where I started noticing that both the ambition and the joy I experienced before is slowly fading away.

“Rather than throwing in the towel immediately, I felt that the rational thing to do was to keep going and see if the feeling got stronger. Well, it did. And it’s time to come to grips with it. The Fifth Alliance is growing steadily as a band and they deserve a fully committed drummer; a role that I can’t live up to anymore. Therefore, I will be leaving the band after my last show on the 24th of June in my hometown; Roosendaal.

“All the other band members have shown a great amount of appreciation and understanding for my situation. They’ve been dealing with it like champs and with that mentality and a little bit of luck they managed to find a new drummer immediately.

“It only took two rehearsals with our first and only candidate to figure out that this was going to work out very well. Tim Monomentum from Monomentum Collective will be my successor and he is stoked to start blasting away. I wish him and the rest of the band all the best and I will be looking forward to hearing their new material in the near future.”

The Fifth Alliance had this to add: “We are definitely going to miss Ashwin in the band as being a great guy and drummer. We just want to thank him for all the awesome years and wish him all the very best in future. As mentioned, Ashwin will be doing his last show with us in his hometown at Roosendaal Open Air 2017. Make it count.”

Austin, Texas metal band Fire From the Gods today releases new video “The Voiceless,” which can be seen below. The band is known for uniquely bridging the gap between metal fury and hip hop, and this track is off of the band’s upcoming album, “Narrative Retold,” which hits stores May 19th.

Fire from the Gods signed with Rise Records for the release of 2016 LP, “Narrative,” which was produced by David Bendeth (Paramore, Of Mice & Men, Breaking Benjamin). Written from the point of view of a minority man living in urban America, “Narrative” put American society under a microscope, tackling topics like racism and abuse of power and balancing those with empowering underdog anthems.

Artificial Brain’s relentless second full-length album “Infrared Horizon” sees official release via Profound Lore Records today and now all the tracks have also come online for streaming.

With “Infrared Horizon,” Long Island-based Artificial Brain has created an album far more advanced than the lauded “Labyrinth Constellation” debut, taking a brand of guttural yet technical and ambient sci-fi death metal to a new dimension. Produced by Colin Marson (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Krallice) at The Thousand Caves, “Infrared Horizon” sees the sonic architecture laid down by the band go further into the beyond and infinite.

Following performances at Covenant Festival Montreal with the likes of Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, and many others, Artificial Brain continues to promote the album live. This week the band hits the East Coast alongside Pyrrhon, including a set at the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest pre-show with Die Choking and more.
