In a recent interview with Classic Metal Magazine, Nightwish founder Tuomas Holopainen discussed some interesting issues happening with their vocalist Anette Olzen (who if you have been living under a rock, replaced long time vocals Tarja Turinen a couple of years ago) who after a year or more of very heavy touring, has started showing cracks from the pressure to the point that she herself admitted that she might not be able to handle the rigors of performing with Nightwish. This is really a drag for me because the band’s last album Dark Passion Play (and the only one to feature Anette on vocals) I believe is their best to date. I thought the shift in vocal style was a welcomed refresher for the band and really brought forth something new. Hopefully once this last leg of their tour is finished they can take a breather so Anette can find her bearings because I don’t want to wait for another Nightwish album for another couple of years.
