ALTER BRIDGE will release a new live CD, DVD and Blu-ray entitled “Live In Milan” in early June. The show was taped at the legendary Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy on November 12, 2013 in front of a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 fans. Shot in beautiful HD with 18 cameras and directed by award-winning filmmaker and longtime ALTER BRIDGE director Daniel E. Catullo III, the show includes 18 songs off all four of the band’s studio albums. One of the tracks, an acoustic rendition of the ALTER BRIDGE song “Watch Over You”, features a special guest appearance by HALESTORM‘s Lzzy Hale.

A trailer for “Live In Milan” can be seen below.

ALTER BRIDGE celebrated its 10th anniversary on January 6 with the release of “Alter Bridge X”, a massive, 27-disc box set that was limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. The set includes all four ALTER BRIDGE studio albums, along with DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl audio copies of “Live From Amsterdam” and “Live At Wembley”, including a 3D version of the latter. Also in the box was every webisode to date, hours of unreleased interviews and documentary footage, a coffee table book, a signed poster, and much more.

The complete set contains 16 DVDs/Blu-rays, seven CDs and four vinyl discs.

The hardcover coffee table book contains more than 100 pages of exclusive photos spanning the group’s decade-long career.

The 3,000 copies were split between 1,500 for Europe, 1,000 for the U.S. and 500 for the rest of the world.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a headlining tour of Europe in support of its latest album, “Fortress”, which featured the Active Rock Top 15 single “Addicted To Pain”.

ALTER BRIDGE was started by the three instrumental members of CREED and guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse Of Radio how ex-MAYFIELD FOUR singer Myles Kennedy became the final piece of the puzzle. “When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy’s, you know, not doing anything right now and he’s this good?” he said. “I made demos and sent ’em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we’ve been a band ever since.”

Lamb of God's sophmore album, As The Palaces Burn holds a very special place in my heart. It makes my heart feel much older to learn that the album was actually released 10 years ago, in 2003. Time flies, kids. To commemorate the occassion, the band will be re-releasing the album that practically launched their …

Richmond, Virigina metallers LAMB OF GOD will release a special 10th-anniversary edition of their “As The Palaces Burn” album in November.

After some serious detective work tracking down the original album master tapes, the band went in with producer Josh Wilbur (who also produced LAMB OF GOD‘s “Wrath” and “Resolution” CDs) and gave “Palaces” a full-on, ass-kicking remix and remaster, front to back, top to bottom. The remixed version of “Palaces” is now how they had originally intended it to be.

To go along with the album re-release, LAMB OF GOD also shot a brand new DVD documentary recounting the recording process and the stories behind the music which features new interviews with original producer Devin Townsend, the band members and current producer, Josh Wilbur.

LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler comments: “We are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically.

“Ever since the original release, we’ve been distraught about the sonic qualities of ‘As The Palaces Burn’.

“The band had captured lightning in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightning into a firefly in a jar.

“The songs are undeniable and we’ve always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and it’s true potential.”

“As The Palaces Burn” 10th-anniversary edition track listing:

01. Ruin
02. As The Palaces Burn
03. Purified
04. 11th Hour
05. For Your Malice
06. Boot Scraper
07. A Devil In God’s Country
08. In Defense Of Our Good Name
09. Blood Junkie
10. Vigil
11. Ruin (previously unreleased demo)
12. As The Palaces Burn (previously unreleased demo)

U.K.’s Total Guitar magazine recently conducted a “Me And My Guitar” interview with Anders Nyström of Swedish dark rockers KATATONIA. You can now watch the chat below.

KATATONIA has announced a co-headlining North American tour, “Uncrowned & Vertikal Tour”, with CULT OF LUNA plus special guests INTRONAUT and TESSERACT. The two-week run will commence September 23 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The upcoming North American tour will coincide with the release of “Dethroned And Uncrowned”, KATATONIA‘s debut album on Kscope (sister label of Peaceville), home to ANATHEMA, AMPLIFIER, STEVEN WILSON and most recently, WISDOM OF CROWDS, the new project from Bruce Soord of THE PINEAPPLE THIEF and KATATONIA‘s very own Jonas Renkse.

“Dethroned And Uncrowned” will be release on September 10 in North America to celebrate Kscope‘s fifth anniversary.

The album was funded by a successful PledgeMusic campaign that helped make the recording possible.

Nyström commented, “The synopsis is simple and album title won’t lie; the drums will be dethroned and the distorted rhythm guitars will be uncrowned! Instead, we’ll place the emphasis on the many layers of ambience, with the melodies staying central and the vocal harmonies representing the heart of the album.

“Think of the album like a person’s face in the hands of a surgeon, whose appearance is gonna change, but it’s still the same person behind that face and we guess an important factor, in this case, would be that the surgeon itself is obviously KATATONIA, not a stranger! If there’s one album in our repertoire that’s suited for a thing like this, it’s ‘Dead End Kings’.”

KATATONIA will support PARADISE LOST on the “Tragic Illusion” 25th-anniversary tour in October alongside LACUNA COIL.

Concurrently, also celebrating their own 10th anniversary for their masterful sixth album “Viva Emptiness”, KATATONIA will perform the album in its entirety each night to make these shows even more special.

Originally released in 2003, “Viva Emptiness” is regarded by many, including the bandmembers themselves, as being among KATATONIA‘s finest albums. The CD cemented the band’s reputation as a major force, combining refined metal with doom and gloom angst-laden rock.

To coincide with the shows and the album’s 10th anniversary, “Viva Emptiness” will be entirely remixed and remastered by David Castillo, plus enhanced with new artwork courtesy of Travis Smith, for a re-release on November 4 via Peaceville.
