The official lyric video for the song “Alive” from GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS, the new progressive metal band formed by lead guitarist Matt Wicklund (GOD FORBID, HIMSA, WARREL DANE), drummer Van Williams (NEVERMORE, ASHES OF ARES, PURE SWEET HELL) and vocalist Adōn Fanion, can be seen below.

The band’s sound features technical and groove metal elements, highlighted by Adōn‘s powerful clean vocals, Van‘s tasteful rhythms and Matt‘s melodic and intricate guitar solos.

GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS has finished writing material for its as-yet-untitled debut full-length album and is currently working with Grammy-winning producer Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, QUEENSRŸCHE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, HALL & OATES, NILE).

In order to get this project off to a great start, GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS is reaching out to fans to help fund the album by use of popular crowd-funding site Kickstarter. The campaign has been launched and offers pre-sales of the album, merchandise and many other perks, including one-on-one Skype video lessons, guest performances on your band’s album, being drawn into the band’s album artwork, and more. Pledge here, but hurry, the pledging period ends in 30 days.

Guitarist Christopher Amott (ARMAGEDDON, ex-ARCH ENEMY) last year announced his departure from GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS in order to focus entirely on making a new ARMAGEDDON album.

On September 20, Swedish occult rockers GHOST were interviewed on Brazil’s “Multi Show” after the band’s appearance at the Rock In Rio festival. You can now watch the chat below.

GHOST‘s sophomore album, “Infestissumam”, sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The CD topped the official chart in the group’s home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI‘s “Wolves”.

In a recent interview with ARTISTdirect, a nameless ghoul from GHOST said about “Infestissumam”: “It feels way more theatrical and bombastic. In many ways, ‘Infestissumam’ is thematically a continuation of where [the debut album] ‘Opus Eponymous’ began. Whereas a lot of the thematic ideas we have in mind for upcoming albums might differ a little bit and will go in another direction. That’s not to say we won’t sing about the things we do and not have makeup. I’m just saying it will evolve into other things in the future. On this record, I feel like we’re doing a lot of things we intended to do on the first naïvely being we could pull off a show like that at that point — which we couldn’t. Now, we have a little bit more muscle. The attendance is probably more in accordance with being able to present a show like that.”

Regarding the lyrical themes covered “Infestissumam”, the nameless ghoul said: “Thematically we knew the major difference between the first and the second albums as much as we do between the second and the third. It’s a bit ironic now. Jumping up to the contemporary controversy with our album artwork and the refusal of printers to print the art is funny because the whole record is about the presence of the devil. Obviously, it’s about how mankind relate to the presence of the devil. Historically, it’s always been the female body that has taken the fall for that, which is what happened in this case. The problem was a vagina in the art not the inverted crosses.”

GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for “legal reasons.”

Shadow Kingdom Records will release the self-titled full-length debut from Canadian epic doomsters FUNERAL CIRCLE on November 19.

“Funeral Circle” track listing:

01. Scion Of Infinity
02. Amaranthine (Wandering Dreamer)
03. Corpus Of Dark Sorcery
04. Tempus Edax Rerum
05. The Charnel God
06. Black Colossus
07. Obelisk

Shadow Kingdom Records head honcho Tim McGrogran had this to say about the debut: “Epic doom metal is not the most well-known heavy metal genre. It takes a lot of heart and guts to play this style of music since the dinosaurs that started this kind of music are some of the very best bands to ever exist.

“Epic doom metal, in our opinion, started in Sweden with CANDLEMASS. Their intention was to write the first epic doom metal album. Other doom metal bands floating around back then weren’t thinking about writing a doom record, they just wrote the music they liked and that sounded heavy.

“With that said, we’re proud to introduce FUNERAL CIRCLE! Hailing from the icy mountains of Canada, this young and hungry band is writing some of the very best epic doom metal songs heard today.

“If you’re looking for epic doom metal, there’s not much out there better than this self-titled beast of an album! They’re slowly clawing their way to the top of this genre. This record is loud, heavy, and raw with outstanding vocals. To top it off, if the fans voted on best album artwork, this would be the best of 2013.”

Experimental metal act EPHEL DUATH will return with its first album in five years, “Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness”, on November 19 in Europe and November 26 in North America via Agonia Records.

A video trailer for the CD featuring album artwork created by visionary artists Dehn Sora and Aeron Alfrey can be seen below.

Ignited by commitment and passion, “Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness” is a multi-layered hybrid of death metal, jazz and post rock, and a strong statement from a band never bounded by rules. With intuition set as the only significant parameter, EPHEL DUATH takes an uncompromising will to experiment, to a whole new level of intensity.

“This album holds together all that EPHEL DUATH‘s music has touched in the last fifteen years and pushes its boundaries even further,” comments EPHEL DUATH mainman Davide Tiso. “Lyrically, the new songs dig deep in higher self subject matters, combining brutally visual imagery with a painfully honest soul-searching quest.”

Featuring eight new songs and reaching over 50 minutes of total length, “Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness” includes a unique line-up of: Marco Minnemann (KREATOR, NECROPHAGIST, JOE SATRIANI) behind the drums, Bryan Beller (DETHKLOK, JOE SATRIANI) on bass, lead singer Karyn Crisis (CRISIS) along with Tiso. The album was produced by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL) at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios in New York.

“Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness” track listing:

01. Feathers Under My Skin
02. Tracing The Path Of Blood
03. When Mind Escapes Flesh
04. Within This Soil
05. Those Gates To Nothing
06. Through Flames I Shield
07. Hemmed By Light
08. Shaped by Darkness

“Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness” will be available in digipack CD, double LP and digital formats.
