Andrei Bouzikov, who is responsible for album covers from such bands as SKELETONWITCH and MUNICIPAL WASTE, created the artwork for “Awake The Riot”.

The effort will be made available on standard CD, limited 2LP gatefold, and digitally.

“Awake The Riot” track listing:

01. Living Hell
02. Soul Erazor
03. Beneath The Earth
04. You Lost Sight
05. Agent Thrash
06. Living A Lie
07. Awake The Riot – The Final War
08. Eternal Waste
09. Drowned In Blind Faith
10. Worlds Built To Deceive
11. The Monotonous – Distant Scream
12. Future Shock (EVIL DEAD cover)

DUST BOLT‘s debut album, “Violent Demolition”, was released in July 2012 via Napalm Records. The CD featured a guest appearance by SEPULTURA frontman Derrick Green.

According to a press release, DUST BOLT “demonstrate[d] with their debut album that they are hungry, bursting with energy and highly explosive! The love for Bay Area trash metal is evident in the songs of the German quartet, but the use of modern elements gives their sound a highly unique character. The songs are aggressive, furious and reminiscent of old classics by the likes of KREATOR, SLAYER and TESTAMENT.”

Los Angeles-based thashers WARBRINGER will release their fourth studio album, “IV: Empires Collapse”, on October 28 in Europe and October 29 in North America via Century Media Records.

“IV: Empires Collapse”, the studio recording debut for former MANTIC RITUAL members Jeff Potts (guitar) and Ben Mottsman (bass) rounding off WARBRINGER‘s five-piece lineup, was recorded with producer Steve Evetts (SEPULTURA, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SUICIDE SILENCE), mixed by Brett Eliason (PEARL JAM, HEART) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATEBREED, CONVERGE). The album’s cover artwork, which can be seen below, was designed by Adrienne Rozzi.

Comments WARBRINGER: “The artwork for ‘Empires Collapse’ came about from wanting to take a much more focused and simplistic approach. Previous WARBRINGER album covers are extremely detailed, busy works, so it was a conscious decision to have art that was the antithesis of what we had done before. John Laux came up with the concept, so we had our friend Adrienne Rozzi make up a sketch, which led to us having her follow through with the final piece. It’s incredibly different from what most fans would expect for a WARBRINGER album cover, but we wanted the art to visually reflect the music. The piece reminds me of a tarot card illustration and sets a very cryptic, somber vibe which associates well with the music that ties into the album’s title.”

“IV: Empires Collapse” track listing:

01. Horizon
02. The Turning Of The Gears
03. One Dimension
04. Hunter-Seeker
05. Black Sun, Black Moon
06. Scars Remain
07. Dying Light
08. Iron City
09. Leviathan
10. Off With Their Heads!
11. Towers Of The Serpent

The lyric video for the song “Hunter-Seeker” can be seen below.

WARBRINGER will tour North America with KREATOR and OVERKILL between October 27 and November 29. Additionally, WARBRINGER has just been announced to appear at IRON MAIDEN‘s The Battle Of San Bernardino event on September 13, with additional performances by MEGADETH, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, SABATON and OVERKILL, making it a night to remember for fans of heavy/thrash metal.

Said WARBRINGER about the opportunity: “It’s an honor to be able to perform alongside one of heavy metal’s most influential bands and we want to thank everyone who has given us their support in order to achieve this opportunity. It will be a monumental concert for us and all attending. Up the irons!”

We're big fans of the King of Metal, comedian Dave Hill. So much so, that we have given him free reign in the past to shit on Testament fans, modern black metal bands, classic black metal videos and Cannibal Corpse album covers. Turns out, Dave has a fan in legendary Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo as well. …

This morning (Jan 10), Metro published a feature showing a supposed list of the worst album covers of all time ever. As you can see here, it is admittedly a pretty bad (IE good) list, with dancing wally Lionel Blair grabbing the top spot for this piece of pure, unadulterated art:

However, being somewhat versed in decades of terrible power metal bands and 80s-style heroics, we reckon we can do way, way better than that. So, without further ado, here are 10 more album covers that are way, way worse than Metro’s, in no particular order, from last year alone. Sorry in advance.

Mexican act Acrania has revealed the artwork for the band’s upcoming album entitled “An Uncertain Collision,” which will be available worldwide on October 20th, 2012. The album was produced by J.C. Chávez and Luis Oropeza at “Circo Volador Studios” in Mexico City, and according to a press release, “explores a new range of Latin rhythms and instruments that had not been used in previous albums. Merengue, Puerto Rican bomba, cha cha cha, samba and ‘plena,’ are addressed in this new album, fused with the power of death metal and technical riffs, powerful drumming with unusual rythms within the genre, with growls and lyrics that address all kinds of human and spiritual passions.”

The album’s artwork comes by the hand of Berlin-based artist & illustrator Eliran Kantor, who is known mostly for creating album covers for bands such as Testament, Sodom, Atheist, and Mekong Delta.

Eliran Kantor comments, “I wanted it to be about the emotion behind the music, about the colors and shapes I saw when listening to this music : the passion and the ‘collision’ are represented with the fire, hitting the water, the two symbols of eternity dancing above the skull as it represents mortality – the ‘collision’ comes from these contradictions. I wanted it to really reflect what the album is about, and how it sounds – without using too traditional elements but just hinting at them. The logo gets the idea across that this is a metal album and a metal band.”

The album’s track listing is:

01. Treason, Politics & Death
02. Deceive the Pain
03. Now
04. A Praise to Madness
05. Revolutions & Tequila
06. But not Today
07. Speartooth
08. Vallarta Nights
09. In my Land
