Midwest Music Scene conducted an interview with singer Jesse Hasek of Knoxville, Tennessee hard rockers 10 YEARS on August 25 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You can now watch the chat below.

10 YEARS‘ sixth studio album, “Minus The Machine”, was released on August 7, 2012 via the band’s own label, Palehorse Records. The disc follows up the band’s last effort for a major label, 2010′s “Feeding The Wolves”, and bassist Lewis Cosby told The Pulse Of Radio that becoming independent again gave the band a new jolt of energy. “This time around, it felt like we were an unsigned artist again and we were able to do whatever the hell we wanted to do,” he said. “Complete freedom, complete control — there’s not a track on this record that we’re not just super-proud of. It was such a pleasant experience this time, we really had fun.”

Jesse Hasek said about the album, “We’re proud of this album in its entirety. That speaks volumes to us because we’re our own worst critics. We pick everything apart. An album is your child, it’s your baby, and you know it better than anyone. To sit back and be 100 percent proud of what we’ve accomplished is so gratifying, and we think everything else will fall into place.”

MEGADETH performed a short acoustic set on August 7 in front of a select group of fans at VEVO studios in New York City. The band played the following three tracks:

* Symphony Of Destruction
* Kingmaker
* She-Wolf

Video footage of the “She-Wolf” performance can be seen below.

Check out a review of the session at NY Hard Rock Music Examiner. Photos are available at this location.

MEGADETH has just completed a headlining run at this year’s edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by Dave Mustaine.

In addition to MEGADETH, this year’s installment of Gigantour featured BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED and DEATH DIVISION.

MEGADETH‘s latest album, “Super Collider”, has sold 64,000 copies in the United States since its June 4 release. The CD arrived in stores via Mustaine‘s new label, Tradecraft, distributed by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). It marks MEGADETH‘s first release since the band’s split with Roadrunner Records.

MEGADETH filmed a video for the “Super Collider” title track on May 10 in the Los Angeles area. California-based model, actress, singer and songwriter Hunter Elizabeth was cast in the lead role in the clip, which she says is “about a high-school couple still loving each other after all the years after graduation, and at the 10-year reunion, both characters find themselves successful (a model and a mathematician) and still very in love.”

“That song kind of came from that ‘Symphony Of Destruction’ corner of my mind,” Mustaine told Guitar World magazine. “You can’t always play aggressive, thrashy stuff. Sometimes those aren’t even songs; they’re like musical rams. But because I’m not a pop guy, I’m also not really comfortable playing sing-along songs. To me, ‘Super Collider’ made sense like a normal song — a verse-chorus-verse-chorus kind of thing. It’s written the way a real songwriter would write the song, instead of just taking all these musical twists and turns.”

According to The Pulse Of Radio, a previously unheard GUNS N’ ROSES song called “Going Down” surfaced briefly on YouTube earlier this week before being quickly taken down. The track reportedly features bassist Tommy Stinson on lead vocals, although Axl Rose can be clearly heard doing background vocals. It is not clear whether the tune is an older one from the sessions for the band’s last album, “Chinese Democracy”, or something brand new.

GUNS guitarist Ron Thal confirmed on Twitter that the tune was indeed a GUNS N’ ROSES song, although that his tweet was later deleted as well.

Thal told Rolling Stone earlier this year that there was music ready to go for a follow-up to “Chinese Democracy”, saying, “There’s a lot of stuff, it’s just a question of all of us organizing… Hopefully we can make more music.”

The band posted a message on August 7 at all its social media pages, saying, “At this time, we have no information on tours, albums, or DVDs. When things get confirmed, we will let you know. Thank you for your patience.”

It took Axl Rose 13 years to finish “Chinese Democracy”, burning through hundreds of thousands of dollars, multiple producers, every last remaining original member of the group and a few replacements before he was done.

The finished product got mixed reviews and was a relative flop, moving less than one million copies in the U.S.

Rose himself has not spoken about making a new album in any of his rare interviews, only to say that it was a “definite maybe.”

Earlier this year, Jeremy Spencer of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH gave Drum! magazine an up-close-and-personal look at his time in producer Kevin Churko‘s The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada recording the band’s new album, “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1″. Check out the footage below.

“The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1″ sold 112,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (August 7). The record arrived in stores on July 30. The chart and first-week sales numbers are both career highs for the group, whose previous effort, 2011′s “American Capitalist”, sold 91,000 copies in its first seven days to enter the chart at No. 3.

The group’s 2009 sophomore album, “War Is The Answer”, moved 44,000 copies to land at No. 7. All three previous FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH releases have gone gold.

“The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1″ is the first half of a two-record set, with the second half due to arrive sometime this fall.

After coming up with 25 songs for the album, the band first envisioned putting them out all together in one double-disc set, before deciding to split the collection into two separate releases.

First single “Lift Me Up” features guest vocals from JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford. Other guests include IN THIS MOMENT singer Maria Brink, SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera, HATEBREED vocalist Jamey Jasta and rapper Tech N9ne.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will kick off a headlining North American trek on September 15 at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California.

Quality fan-filmed video footage of the Finnish epic metallers WINTERSUN performing the song “The Way Of The Fire”, from their forthcoming album, “Time II”, on August 7 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania can be seen below.

After several sold-out shows last year on their inaugural North American co-headlining tour with ELUVEITIE, WINTERSUN has returned to North American shores once again for a headlining tour this August/September. Joining them are Italian symphonic death metal champions FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, melodic tech-death kings ARSIS and up-and-comers STARKILL.

Says WINTERSUN: “We’re thrilled to return to North America for a full-scale headliner tour in August and September! It will be our first longer own headlining tour ever and this time, without any setlist length limitations, we’ll be able to offer the North American crowds a special show — representing both the ‘Wintersun’ and ‘Time I’ albums. There might also be some surprises in the setlist as well… We are really looking forward to sharing the live magic with YOU, all the fans out there!”

WINTERSUN‘s “Time I” was nominated in the “Metal Album Of The Year” category at this year’s Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent), which was held on March 1 at Barona Areena in Espoo, Finland.

“Time I” sold nearly 4,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States to land at position No. 109 on The Billboard 200 chart.
