Zakk Wylde was in Chicago when the theft happened

A $10,000 custom guitar was stolen from Zakk Wylde‘s tourbus on Friday night.

Zakk has confirmed that the guitar was taken while his bus was parked outside The Chicago Theatre during the BLS mainman’s visit to the Experience Hendrix Tour, an event commemorating the influence of the iconic guitarist and featuring appearances from a number of respected axe maestros.

“I thought somebody might have picked it up and put it in the back lounge (inside the theatre),” he tells the Chicago Tribune. “In 25-plus years, I’ve never had anything stolen.”

The guitar was a Pelham Blue Les Paul painted with his signature bulls-eye pattern.

Iron Bonehead Productions has set April 21st as the international release date for Skelethal’s “Deathmanicvs Revelation.” The label also issued the following announcement: “Skelethal’s debut MLP, Deathmanicvs Revelation says everything it needs to in its title: absolute DEATH WORSHIP, wielding the metal of death like a scythe, an axe, and blunt hammer simultaneously, all in obeisance to occult forces beyond the mien of man. “At 22 lean, licentious minutes, Deathmanicvs Revelation allows this French duo to gallop forth into – and beyond – the realms of death, utilizing a morbid, miasmic thrust and an execution that sounds utterly possessed. “Despite their young years, Skelethal are well learned in the ancient ways of death metal, and the resultant sound across Deathmanicvs Revelation is not so much ‘old school’ nor ‘retro’ as it is simply respectful of its traditions, adding their own hideous flair to the form.” The track listing is as follows: 1

Converge have long since had a reputation as one of the most ferocious live bands on the block and their set today is one of the most anticipated of the weekend amongst those who like their metal with an abrasive hardcore edge. However, despite being in the relatively enclosed surroundings of a tent, festival surroundings are not neccesarily Converge’s natural habitat and it shows, while the onstage energy levels remain high from Jacob Bannon and co the chemistry between band and audience feels somewhat stifled. There are moments where their brilliance is clear for all to see, Aimless Arrow and Axe to Fall are breathtaking and Kurt Ballou’s guitar playing once again sets him apart as one of the great visionaries of the genre.

It is certainly enough to get us ready for the boilersuited maelstrom that is about to hit the main stage but this is not Converge as their blistering best.
