VIPER SOLFA, the new band featuring Ronny Thorsen (TRAIL OF TEARS), Miriam “Sphinx” Renvåg (RAM-ZET, ENDLING), Morfeus (MAYHEM, LIMBONIC ART, DIMENSION F3H), Endre Moe (TRAIL OF TEARS, DIMENSION F3H, CUTTHROAT) and Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow (TRAIL OF TEARS, SPHERE), will enter the studio in May to start recording its as-yet-untitled debut album. Drums will be tracked at Strand Studio in Oslo, Norway before moving on to bass, guitars and keyboards/orchestration recordings. Vocals will be laid down at Soundsuite Studios in Marseille, France with producer Terje Refsnes. The band states: “Stoked to get this train rolling!”

A demo version of the VIPER SOLFA song “Whispers And Storms” can be streamed below.

VIPER SOLFA emerged in 2013 as an idea from TRAIL OF TEARS singer and frontman Ronny Thorsen. After nearly two decades of albums, worldwide touring, as well as guest appearances for TRISTANIA and BLOOD RED THRONE, the time seemed right to head into different musical territories. Thorsen was quickly joined by fellow TRAIL OF TEARS members Endre Moe on bass and Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow on drums. Not long after, the three of them found themselves in the creative company of Morfeus, who immediately took the role of main composer as well as handling guitar, keyboard and orchestration duties. With the material at hand, it became obvious that the sound needed a diverse, intense and highly skilled female voice and after auditioning over two dozen singers from around the globe, Miriam “Sphinx” Renvåg was recruited as the final piece of the puzzle.

With a lineup consisting of established and well-known members from vast musical backgrounds, the result is a merciless musical beast combining the best of the individual members’ musical history. Nearly a year has been spent crafting the band’s innovative brand of extreme metal, or as the band so fittingly labels it: poison music.

VIPER SOLFA is:

* Ronny Thorsen (TRAIL OF TEARS) – Vocals
* Miriam “Sphinx” Renvåg (RAM-ZET, ENDLING) – Vocals
* Morfeus (MAYHEM, LIMBONIC ART, DIMENSION F3H) – Guitar, Keyboards, Orchestration
* Endre Moe (TRAIL OF TEARS, DIMENSION F3H, CUTTHROAT) – Bass

Dutch heavy metal band LORD VOLTURE has finished recording its as-yet-untitled third full-length studio album at Final Focus Studio in Tilburg and Split Second Sound Studio in Amsterdam with engineers Yuma van Eekelen (EXIVIOUS, ex-PESTILENCE) and Bart Hennephof (TEXTURES). All tracks are now going to Swamp Studio in Raamsdonk to be mixed by Stephen van Haestregt (ex-WITHIN TEMPTATION, ex-MY FAVORITE SCAR). An early 2014 release is expected.

Comments LORD VOLTURE frontman David Marcelis: “We cannot wait to share the new tunes with the world.

“We’re so proud to have made another album which is 100% LORD VOLTURE, yet renewing in its own way. The compositions are more compact and in-your-face than on our previous records, but at the same time there is more rest and maturity and a better flow. Everything sounds loud, tight and confident, even in the unmixed and uncompressed tracks.

“Each of us has grown a lot since our last release, ‘Never Cry Wolf’, in 2011. Drums, bass, guitars, vocals… everything. If you ask me, this will become an instant-classics-only album!”

In less then two weeks, LORD VOLTURE embark on the “Wolves In Bohemia” tour in Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands. More tours and shows are coming up in October, November, December and January for and the Netherlands and also covering France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark and Northern Ireland.

The band has announced that they will play live a number of the new album songs alongside classics from the “Beast Of Thunder” and “Never Cry Wolf” albums.

New Delhi-based experimental black metal band Throne Of Regression is back from hiatus and working on their new single. The band posted on Facebook:

“Well, after a lot of fuck-ups including line-up issues, internal disputes etc. the band is again active. And it feels good to be back again. All the past, pending projects are now being started fresh. Obviously with new hopes and spirits. For those of you who don’t know, we are a new/upcoming Black Metal act hailing from New Delhi. Our styles not just stick to one particular theme or sub-genre but we strive to deliver the most innovative Black Metal tone. To give it a precision, one can call us as Progressive Dark. If not, then maybe we would fix right in the place of Experimental Black.

“So, Throne of Regression’s main line-up includes:
Shrey Kathuria on vocals and rhythm guitars.
Ekyum Singh Sawhney on lead guitars.
Gaurav Gorain on bass guitars.

“Yeah, we will be featuring some talented guest artists/instrumentalists from the mighty music circuit in every song we would make. Coming to the drums, we still are in a need of a decent drummer. You can always drop us an inbox or get in touch with Shrey Kathuria (+91-9953069370) about the same. He would love to give interested people further details about the same.

“Well, yes, the music. The band has already started working on the debut single. Keeping those old German lessons we had in 6th grade in mind, we call the first song as Dunklen Passagier. Which, in English, means Dark Passenger. The title and the entire idea for the same was given by the guitarist, Ekyum. All the major artworks for the song are in the process by the band itself.
To be more precise about the progress, we are done programming the drums already. Guitars and bass will be tracked at end of this week. We thank for all the production and recording work Soundplex records. A fresh and new initiative taken by a good friend- Prateek Aggarwal. The man is a monster on the console, trust me!

“So, before I wrap all this up, I would want you to support us with full-heart. A constructive criticism is always welcome..because you are the one for who we will be making music for. Spread a word across, share among your friends and fellows and support Indian Black Metal.
Cheers!”
