Ex-SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach has responded to a recent interview in which SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan told a journalist that answering questions about the possibility of working with Bach again is “a waste of time.”

“I go on my Twitter feed and I read things like [January 24] was the 25th anniversary of the release date of the first SKID ROW album, and SKID ROW doesn’t give a fuck,” Bach tells Yahoo! Music. “I would love to do something to celebrate it, and my former bandmates are like, ‘Nah, we’re playing a bowling alley. We’re happy. We don’t care.’”

He adds: “There’s a lot of unreleased material sitting around collecting dust. The fans would love [to see it being released], but I guess my band is allergic to cash. They’re happy not being big. It’s such an insult to the millions of people who dug our albums. It’s like saying, ‘We were just joking [back then]. Happy anniversary!’”

Bach in July 2012 posted a letter on his Facebook page in which he said he was willing to reunite with SKID ROW. “For the fans, I would be willing to put my ego aside and do something that would be special for the people who put us where we are today,” he wrote. “I do not personally want it myself. But it’s not always about ‘what I want.’ If the fans really want to see us together, I would do it for the fans. Sometimes you can do things for people other than yourself.”

Bach said he wanted to write the letter in response to current SKID ROW singer Johnny Solinger‘s interview in which Johnny said a tweet by Bach about a possible SKID ROW reunion was an attempt to “get attention.”

Speaking to SCTimes.com, Bolan stated about Sebastian‘s departure from SKID ROW, “We thought we were disbanded and that we’d never do it again. Then we kept getting e-mails and the management office was getting lots of letters about people wanting to see SKID ROW on stage and we really started to miss it. We knew if we got back together, we were going to do things different.”

He added, “When Johnny joined the band [in 1999], that really gave us a kick in the ass. It was a different guy there and everything that came out of that guy was positive.”

On the topic of the persistent rumors of a reunion with Sebastian, Bolan said, “Actually, there were never any talks. Ever. That was all just total rumor. We got rid of him in the ’90s and never looked back. . . After the first tour [with Solinger on vocals], it seemed like this is the way it’s always been. It’s so weird, I’ll hear an old song on the radio and it just sounds so bizarre to me because I’m so used to Johnny singing it.”

In the April/May 2014 issue of Revolver magazine, the surviving members of PANTERA — vocalist Philip Anselmo, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and bassist Rex Brown — speak about the making of the band’s classic 1994 album, “Far Beyond Driven”, which is being re-released next week as a 20th-anniversary, two-disc edition. The new version will include a newly remastered version of the original recordings along with a new live performance from the 1994 Monsters Of Rock festival.

Speaking about PANTERA‘s touring activities that followed the release of “Far Beyond Driven”, Vinnie Paul said: “When we went on the road, that’s when the wheels started coming off and people didn’t know what other people were doing. Phil had his own bus. Things started turning into what they turned into in the end.

Phil started isolating himself from the rest of us. It got to the point where we wouldn’t see each other until about 20 or 30 minutes before showtime. You never knew if he was going to be in a shitty mood or a good mood. You just hoped it was good enough to get through the show. That’s truly where some of the shows started lacking. They weren’t as good as they used to be, and he would start his rants and go on for 20 minutes while we stood around and looked at him, like, ‘What the fuck are you saying to these people, dude? They want to hear us play some songs. Let’s play some music.’”

Said Anselmo: “The touring was really a mixed bag for me. The [chronic back] pain was intense, but the thrill was still there much of the time, and when I was onstage, that part of it I enjoyed very much. But during this time, I was drinking an entire bottle of Wild Turkey every night before a show to numb the pain I was experiencing.

“I felt trapped, man. I felt lost even trying to explain to the guys in my band, who were so used to seeing Superman up onstage, that I was not Superman anymore. I felt like a trapped animal, honestly. I felt cornered and very confused.

“The words that would come out of my mouth [while we were on stage] were abrasive. I was lashing out at other bands when I really had no business mentioning other bands during a PANTERA show. I was going slowly insane throughout the touring of this record, whether it be from pills, alcohol, or the mental stress from carrying around the chronic pain along with the addiction.”

When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Vinnie Paul and his brother, PANTERA guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.

On March 12, singer/bassist Schmier of German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION was interviewed by Nick Perkel (a.k.a. Japan Nick), a contributing writer for The Aquarian Weekly and host of “Japan Nick’s Rock And Metal Pandemonium” on Montclair State University’s WMSC 90.3 radio station. Asked about his recently announced side project with members of ACCEPT, Schmier said: “It’s actually the drummer, Stefan [Schwarzman], who used to play for RUNNING WILD for many years, and he’s playing for ACCEPT now for many years also. And it’s Herman Frank, the guitar player. We met on several festivals in the last years and we’ve been hanging out. And they’re great guys. And we liked each other since point one. And somehow we had this crazy idea that in between ACCEPT and DESTRUCTION breaks, we could do something together. Because Stefan lives very close by now; he moved down here where I live. So we started to do some stuff, some rehearsals, and it turned out really great.”

He continued: “I’ve been doing this HEADHUNTER project back in the ’90s, and that was also a mix of classical heavy metal with a little bit of DESTRUCTION. So now I’m gonna go back to using my DESTRUCTION vibes, but the music is gonna be much more classical heavy metal, but it’s also, of course, gonna be more heavy and a little more powerful than ACCEPT stuff. So it’s gonna be a nice mixture. It fits really well.

“We have already written five songs. It’s actually still not really so official. So you’re one of the first persons that is interviewing me about this. I only did one interview before, with a guy from Israel, who basically put this on Blabbermouth back in the day.

“We still don’t have a name for the band. We’re writing songs right now, and as soon as we have a demo, then we’re gonna put out an official statement. But we’re having those five songs recorded now as a pre-demo, so when I’m coming back from [touring] the States [with DESTRUCTION], then we’re gonna enter the studio and record a pre-recording for the final album. So I’m excited. It sounds great. It sounds fresh. To me, it’s something different than DESTRUCTION, so it’s a great experience. And the guys are, of course… especially Herman, he’s a little bit older than me. He’s like my big, old brother. He has a lot more experience. Even if I am in the business for a long time, he has some more years, so I can learn from him. And it’s very interesting.”

He added: “I love classical heavy metal; it’s my fucking favorite. And it’s gonna be fun to do that. So I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a great side project.

“I’m not somebody who likes to sit at home the whole day. I like to be entertained and play music and have fun. And I’m looking forward to this new thing.”

Regarding whether fans can expect to hear the first music from the new project before the end of 2014, Schmier said: “It could be by the end of this year. If everything works out, we’re gonna have demos in April/May. Then look for a label. So we could enter the studio in the summer. So I hope it’s gonna happen. But, I mean, I have to do a DESTRUCTION album also, which will have top priority, of course. So we’ll see how everything goes. But I think the way it goes right now, the project will be [in the studio] earlier [than DESTRUCTION]. ‘Cause we have five songs done, and we already have new ideas. So if we find a good label fast, then it should be out by the end of the year.”

DESTRUCTION‘s 30th-anniversary album, “Spiritual Genocide”, was released on November 23, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011′s “Day Of Reckoning” was recorded at Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf, Germany with engineer Martin Buchwalter and was mixed by Andy Classen. The album features guest appearances by Thomas “Angelripper” Such (SODOM), Andreas “Gerre” Geremia (TANKARD) and Ol Drake (EVILE). In addition, the “Mad Butcher”/“Release From Agony” lineup of DESTRUCTION — featuring guitarist Harry Wilkens and drummer Oliver Kaiser — reunited for one song.

TESTAMENT‘s recent tour of Australia was the band’s first with returning bassist Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, DEATH, ICED EARTH).

TESTAMENT in January announced the departure of bassist Greg Christian. DiGiorgio rejoined TESTAMENT as Christian‘s replacement.

Steve was previously a member of TESTAMENT on “The Gathering” (1999) and “First Strike Still Deadly” (2001) albums.

Christian was forced to leave the band’s North American tour with LAMB OF GOD and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE in November 2013 for “personal reasons.” Filling in for him was EXODUS bassist Jack Gibson.

“Dark Roots Of Thrash”, a DVD/2CD release documenting TESTAMENT‘s sold-out headlining performance at the Paramount in Huntington, New York this past February, was made available on October 18, 2013 (Europe) and October 29, 2013 (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records. “Dark Roots Of Thrash” was produced by Get Hammered Productions, directed by Tommy Jones (DEATH ANGEL, KATAKLYSM, SOILWORK) and mixed by Juan Urteaga (VILE, EXODUS, SADUS, MACHINE HEAD). It captures a total of 19 live tracks with countless cams onstage and high above the audience, plus a special moshpit cam that makes you feel like you’re a part of the show.

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx is tying the knot with fiancée Courtney Bingham this weekend (March 15), and she invited ETonline.com along to her fitting at her aunt’s Northern California bridal boutique. Watch the video below to see Courtney‘s design ideas for her stunning dress.

Asked if the couple have decided on the theme for their wedding, Bingham told PopStop TV last fall: “It’s gonna be traditional. It’s gonna be in town. But I’m very inspired by everything Parisian. So that’s kind of not super theme-y. But that’s the idea.”

Bingham celebrated her 27th birthday by performing a striptease to the MÖTLEY CRÜE song “Girls, Girls, Girls” during the band’s September 6, 2012 concert at DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkson, Michigan.

Sixx and Bingham have been dating since 2010, shortly after the breakup of his relationship with tattoo artist Kat Von D.

Sixx, 55, has been married twice, to Playboy Playmate Brandi Brandt and actress Donna D’Errico, and has five children.

BUTCHER BABIES‘ debut album, “Goliath”, sold around 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 107 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD came out on July 9, 2013 via Century Media Records.

The Los Angeles-based band — frontwomen Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd, guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Jason Klein and drummer Chris Warner — wrapped its tour with MARILYN MANSON in late February 2013 and went straight into the studio with producer Josh Wilbur (GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED).

In a 2013 interview with Metal Exiles, Heidi stated about BUTCHER BABIES being labeled a “shock rock” band: “People say that we are, but sometimes I do not see us that way. I think people are just shocked at a couple of girls acting the way that we do. I think that’s what’s mostly shocking. Besides Wendy O. Williams, I haven’t seen a female do anything shocking in music in a long time. This is really who we are, but with the blood, the theatrics and the horror; those are things that we love, it’s what we are about. It’s part of our character, it is who we are when we jump on stage, so it’s not for shock, it’s just how we feel.”

Regarding the lyrical inspiration for “Goliath”, Heidi said: “‘Goliath’ is something that we have held inside us for a long time. I have a green binder that I have all of my writing in, and I have had it since I was 12, so anything I have ever experienced in my life is in there and that’s where we pulled a lot of the material from. A lot of things on this record are things that most people go through and we just turned a negative into a positive.”

In an interview with CrypticRock.com, Shepherd stated about the musical direction of “Goliath”: “The album, as a whole, is very diverse. There is basically something for everybody. We all have different influences and everything is portrayed on this album. Jason [Klein, bass] loves death metal; Henry [Flury, guitar], in general, metal; I love nu-metal; and Carla loves classic metal. We all love every [kind of] metal but those are our favorite and those are where we came from. All our influences shine bright on this album. It’s definitely a coloration of everybody’s influences and everybody’s love. We’re all very proud of it in one way or another. There is something for everybody in it.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE held a press conference on January 28 at Hotel Roosevelt in Los Angeles where they announced that the band will launch its “Final Tour” later this year, with the group planning to play 72 shows in North America in 2014 and more overseas in 2015. Making it official, the four members of the band had their lawyer draw up a formal “cessation of touring” agreement that goes into effect at the end of 2015 and prohibits the members of the group from going on the road again under the MÖTLEY CRÜE banner.

No mention was made of whether the CRÜE will record a new album to go along with the tour, although the group hinted at the possibility.

During an appearance on the March 3 edition of Eddie Trunk‘s show “Trunk Nation” on SiriusXM‘s Hair Nation, MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars revealed: “I just wrote a new song with Nikki [Sixx, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist], and we’re gonna be finishing it up, like, within the next couple of months. There’ll be a new single [released in time for the upcoming tour].”

Sixx in January said that that it’s unlikely that the band will release another full-length album of new material and will instead make select tracks available via special projects in order to maximize their impact.

“My take on it right now and the way that things work is very much reverted back to the ’60s where people buy singles,” Mars told Trunk. “I don’t want an album full of fillers. And that’s why I said I would release [a solo] EP or singles.”

Sixx told the Rapid City, South Dakota radio station 95.1 KSKY: “We have music written, [but] it’s not put together yet.” He added: “It’s hard, to be honest with you, to spend six [or] nine months to write eleven songs — all those lyrics… everything… the vocals, the guitars, the bass, the sonics, the mixing, the mastering, the artwork… You put it out and nothing [happens], because now people cherry-pick songs. So we go, ‘Why don’t we write songs and find vehicles to get one, two or four songs to ten million people rather than eleven songs to a hundred thousand people. That’s how we’re thinking. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but that’s how we’re thinking.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE in 2012 released a brand new song called “Sex” to coincide with the launch of the band’s North American co-headlining tour with KISS.

Written when the group was together during their residency in Las Vegas in February 2012, “Sex” was the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of “Saints Of Los Angeles”. The song was recorded at MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee‘s studio called The Atrium in Calabasas, California.

Jagged Vision: friends in the right places

They play scintillating sludge mashed with heavy hardcore and come Kylesa-approved. Jagged Vision, you’re doing it right.

As vocalist Ole Wik puts it, “things have gone from zero to a hundred, really quickly.” That’s because a few short months ago, the Jagged Vision frontman and his bandmates – drummer Joakin SvelÂ, bassist Kato AustrÂtt and guitarists Harald Lid and Daniel Vier – were languishing in obscurity. Oh, sure, there was the occasional unearthing of their off-kilter brand of upbeat stoner rock/sludge core in and around the venues of western Norway, and you might even have seen someone strolling the streets of Stavanger decked out in one of their shirts, but it’s not like they were on the lips of many more folks beyond that. Until, as Wik explains, Daniel met Kylesa’s Phillip Cope.

“Daniel was a roadie for Kvelertak on their first international tour which was with Converge and Kylesa. From there, he got to know Phil.” Dan and Phil got along and Jagged Vision were looking for a producer to record their debut full-length, so a plan was hatched for the band to trek from Stavanger to Columbia, South Carolina and record at the Jam Room, the studio where the Kylesa man works when he’s not on tour. It was after spending two weeks in Columbia that Phil approached the quintet with the idea of signing to Retro Futurist, the boutique label he was assembling with fellow Kylesa-ians Laura Pleasants and Carl McGinley.

“At the time, we didn’t even know he was planning to start a label!” exclaims Wik. The result is Harvest Earth, the release of which was preceded by a month-long European tour featuring Jagged Earth and fellow Retro Futurist act, Sierra, supporting Kylesa. Not bad for a band who started playing ìsimplistic hardcore punkî and only got into ìstoner, doom and Black Sabbath when [they] got older. “That scene is really small here,” adds Daniel. “The band Purified In Blood are awesome and have been around forever, but it’s mainly just a group of long-haired dudes hanging around listening to loud music, so we’ve always looked to the UK and US for inspiration.”

The combination of the members’ hardcore roots and recent obsession with all things bearded, bare-chested and bong-watered gives Harvest Earth a unique edge as socially conscious shouting meets clipped ‘n ‘crunchy power chord progressions and boogie blues.

“Coming from a hardcore punk background, our lyrics will always have meaning. Harvest Earth is about how humanity exploits everything and us being five clueless dudes who feel we don’t fit in,” Wik laughs. “Going from hardcore to what we do now, we approached our music with a different mindset. The outcome is different and I can’t really put a finger on a band that sounds like us. I’m not even sure if what we do would be considered stoner or doom!”

FaceCulture recently conducted an interview with Dutch singer Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER). You can now watch the chat in three parts below. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On what her role in NIGHTWISH is going to be now that she has been upgraded from a touring singer to a full-time/permanent member:

Floor: “I guess that’s something that needs to be seen, how I can grow into my role within the band, because I have been a guest musician for the whole ‘Imaginaerum’ tour. So, of course, I knew I was gonna stay, but the whole concept of all that was already there. So for the upcoming album, I don’t know how that will grow. I, of course, have my experience, and so do the guys, and I can’t imagine myself, with my personality, sitting back and saying, ‘Yeah, do whatever and I’ll follow.’ But on the other hand, they know exactly what they’re doing — they’ve proven to be able to write great songs and to put out something that totally… where all the pictures match and where the whole concept is one. And I guess it’s a process to see how I can add with my creativity and how my input is gonna be there. I can imagine, I have my feelings and ideas about stage outfits, but also with the songwriting, Tuomas [Holopainen, NIGHTWISH keyboardist] is definitely the master of the writing process, he’s the guy in charge, but Marco [Hietala, NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist] also writes and the whole band comes together and makes the puzzle work. So somewhere in that puzzle I’ll get my share.”

On whether she will be moving to Finland from The Netherlands in order to be closer to NIGHTWISH‘s home base:

Floor: “Out of practical reasons, I don’t have to move to Finland. I mean, it’s quite nearby, and you’re there always for certain periods of time, for either a show or now for the recording period and there are facilities there where I can stay. But I’m studying Finnish, and it’s one of the five most difficult languages in the world. And the more I learn, the more I realize that’s definitely true. [Laughs] So I might move to Finland, at least for a while, to learn the language a bit better, ’cause you don’t learn any language better than in the country itself.”

On why she is studying Finnish:

Floor: “Well, imagine being in a group of 25 people. There are 20 Finnish people, there’s one German, there’s one Dutchie, and there’s one… Or 20 people, let’s say… And there are only two or three people who do not speak Finnish… whether it’s a group of German people, Dutch people — wherever you’re from. You always speak the language you hear most. So if there are 20 people, and 18 of them are Finnish, most people will speak Finnish amongst each other. Regardless of how well the NIGHTWISH guys and everyone involved speaks English, and they’re very willing to translate, they still need to translate. And I feel if I wanna be part of the whole circus even more, be more involved, understand everyone better, even now that I’m studying, understanding the culture a bit better, in the long run, it’s gonna make me feel like I fit in a little bit better. Even though they have welcomed me with open arms and I already feel at home — I call them my brothers and my family — I think being able to speak the language makes the unity even bigger.”
