Zakk Wylde‘s (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) Pelham Blue Bullseye Gibson LP custom guitar, along with his leather vest, were both stolen last night (Friday, March 14) from his tour bus at the Chicago, Illinois stop of the Experience Hendrix tour at the Chicago Theater.

Fans are asked to keep their eyes and ears open, especially at their local pawn shops.

If anyone has any information regarding the guitar, please contact local authorities.

The eighth edition of the celebrated Experience Hendrix Tour launched earlier this month. These special event performances represent an ongoing tribute to the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Presented by BandFuse: Rock Legends, the month-long tour, brings together a diverse group of musical greats paying homage to the abiding genius of Jimi Hendrix. This year’s lineup ranges from metal legend Wylde, blues icon Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the innovative Dweezil Zappa, LOS LOBOS‘ stalwarts Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo, left-handed blues rocker Eric Gales, Texas guitar gods Doyle Bramhall II and Eric Johnson, funk legend Bootsy Collins, Mato Nanji (INDIGENOUS), and, from Serbia by way of Memphis, Ana Popovic. The rhythm section, as always, includes bassist Billy Cox, the only player, apart from Jimi Hendrix himself, who was part of both the BAND OF GYPSYS and the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE and Chris Layton, the drummer who, along with the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, was a founder of DOUBLE TROUBLE.

In the four-minute segment below, guitarist Nick Catanese explains to JamPlay.com how he got the gig with Zakk Wylde and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, “Unblackened”, will be released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde‘s label home, eOne Music, will also release the audio version of the “Unblackened” DVD under the same name. The double disc release will have six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of “Queen Of Sorrow” and “Won’t Find It Here”, and covers of LEON RUSSELL‘s “Song For You” and BILL WITHERS“Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”.

Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. “Unblackened”, however, unveils another side of the band.

Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, “Unblackened” is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals.

Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like “Stillborn”, “The Blessed Hellride”, “In This River”, “Throwin’ It All Away”, “Losin’ Your Mind” and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band.

In addition to the concert, “Unblackened” is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for “Losin’ Your Mind”, and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included.

Zakk Wylde: willing to pay respects to his fallen brother

Zakk Wylde has addressed longheld speculation that should the surviving members of Pantera ever perform together again, he could be the man to step in on guitar duties.

“It’d be up to Vinnie, Phil and Rex — they’re the guys that make everything happen,” he tells Artisan News. “So if they were all gonna do it and honor Dimebag and [if they said to me], ‘Zakk, would you wanna honor Dime and do Dime’s parts?’ Of course, I was a pallbearer for him — I laid him to rest — so, of course, I’d say, it would be a beautiful way to honor him and stuff like that. And to celebrate all things Pantera and what they achieved. ‘Cause they changed the game, as far as extreme metal goes. I mean, they’re the kings of it. But it’s up to the fellows. Then it would just be me woodsheddin’ 25-8, learning all of Dime’s parts, you know what I mean?! Yeah, but like I said, as far as I’m concerned, it would just be honoring Dime.”

Meanwhile, Black Label Society have finally begun work on the follow-up to 2010′s awesome Order Of The Black, with Zakk confirming that the riffs are now officially a-flowin’.

“It’ll have all the heavy riffs and other stuff everyone knows and loves,” Wylde promises Billboard. “Order Of The Black was already three years ago, which is pretty insane. But the whole time we’ve been working, touring and stuff like that; it’s not like we’ve been sitting around the house. It’s crazy because back in the beginning of Black Label we were pumping out an album a year and constantly touring. But don’t mind doing it this way, either.”

BLS are set to release Unblackened, a special collection of live acoustic re-imaginings and a couple of covers, this week. The opus includes an awesome acoustic cover of Bill Withers classic Ain’t No Sunshine, complete with bonkers video:

Wielding his customized screeching Oktober Annihilator guitars like baying lycanthropes at his command, ex-MISFITS slinger Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein comes knocking for another ghouls’ night out with his new band, DOYLE, and their debut album, “Abominator”.

As with his late-Eighties, post-MISFITS project KRYST THE CONQUEROR, the DOYLE band (consisting of CANCERSLUG vocalist Alex Story, bassist “Left Hand” Graham and fellow MISFITS alumni, Dr. Chud on drums) takes a heavy lean towards metal with varying modes of doom, grit rawk and thrash. More polished in execution, the DOYLE band will net an existing demographic of fans clamoring to hear Doyle chuff his downstrokes and gouge ear canals with his caterwauling guitar solos. Now that Doyle has been seen yet again onstage in the company of Glenn Danzig on a recent tour featuring both former MISFITS principals’ offshoots, the attraction is even greater for nostalgic punkers and newbies sporting the Crimson Ghost upon their chests.

The album’s first single, “Valley of the Shadows”, bangs along with ankle-jerking drive, as does the raunchy hump groove of “Cemeterysexxx”. The riffs are no less raunchy on the slow and slinky “Love Like Murder”, on which Doyle punches out more wah compressions than even Zakk Wylde (as Doyle does all throughout “Abominator”) before the song kicks into a punked-up mosh tempo. The hip-shaking verses of “Mark of the Beast” carry a Rob Zombie feel before dirtying things up on the grubby choruses and chunky breakdown section.

The title track is a coarse, doom-stoner blower in the vein of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, while on the flipside, “Learn to Bleed” propels with a vicious thrashcore attack filled with heavy riffs and dropkicking crash patterns from Dr. Chud. Subsequently, “Headhunter” is no less fierce. Even when “Bloodstains” later in the album assumes a tone-drenched death crawl for most of the ride, the track switches gears into a foot-stamping mosher. Finally, “Hope Hell is Warm” closes “Abominator” with the same spirit of slam.

Dr. Chud, having long been in close quarters as part of Doyle‘s one-time revamp of the MISFITS, plus GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN, is one of the highlights of “Abominator”. The dude crushes everything in sight with precise double hammer, rattling crash rides and trampling rolls that demand attention all their own. “Left Hand” Graham tosses out rips and snorts on the four string, sounding perfectly lethal on the title cut, “Learn to Bleed”, “Cemeterysexxx” and “Headhunter”. Alex Story possesses shrewd dynamics between crunk-filled woofing and low-end wailing while pulling out a few nicks of Glenn Danzig at times on “Cemeterysexxx” without plagiarizing.

“Abominator” checks in and checks out as a largely fun romp with the expected dedication to horror motifs and air spaces laid to waste by Doyle‘s whumping riffs and puncturing fret rapes. Each screaming solo sounds like a victim in pain (particularly on “Dreamingdeadgirls”, “Headhunter” and “Hope Hell is Warm”) and for his fans, “Abominator” finds Doyle flailing away snugly within his disruptive demesne.

Back in the 80′s OZZY OSBOURNE had a revolving door of guitar players. Then he found a kid from New Jersey and when I saw Miracle Man on MTV, I was an instant fan of ZAKK WYLDE.

During a brand new interview with Artisan News, Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) was asked about the possibility of a hypothetical PANTERA reunion with him filling in for the late “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott on guitar. “It’d be up to [former PANTERA members] Vinnie [Paul Abbott, drums], Phil [Anselmo, vocals] and Rex [Brown, bass] — they’re the guys that make everything happen,” he said (see video below). “So if they were all gonna do it and honor Dimebag and [if they said to me], ‘Zakk, would you wanna honor Dime and do Dime‘s parts?’ Of course, I was a pallbearer for him — I laid him to rest — so, of course, I’d say, it would be a beautiful way to honor him and stuff like that. And to celebrate all things PANTERA and what they achieved. ‘Cause they changed the game, as far as extreme metal goes. I mean, they’re the kings of it. But it’s up to the fellows. Then it would just be me woodsheddin’ 25-8, learning all of Dime‘s parts, you know what I mean?! Yeah, but like I said, as far as I’m concerned, it would just be honoring Dime. Like with the Yankees, you honor… everybody’s wearing Thurman Munson‘s ’15′ for that day, just because we’re honoring Thurman‘s greatness. So it’s the same thing, man.”

Dimebag‘s longtime girlfriend Rita Haney in 2011 called on Vinnie and Anselmo to settle their differences in honor of Dimebag, who was shot and killed by a crazed gunman while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at a Columbus, Ohio rock club in December 2004.

Vinnie, who is Dimebag‘s brother, and Anselmo have not spoken since PANTERA split in 2003. But the relationship got even more acrimonious when Vinnie indirectly blamed Philip for Dimebag‘s death, suggesting that some remarks the vocalist had made about Dimebag in print just weeks earlier might have incited Dimebag‘s killer.

Speaking to Fuse News, Anselmo said about the possibility of a PANTERA reunion with Wylde filling in for Dimebag: “For me, really, I think it would mean a lot for [ex-PANTERA bassist] Rex [Brown] and [ex-PANTERA drummer] Vince [Paul Abbott] and myself to sit down and, I guess, bury the hatchet where we can be on more friendly terms. And, you know, I think it would mean a lot to the fans.”

He added: “Without Vince, there’s not any PANTERA reunion at all; it’s useless. But he damn well knows my door’s wide open. He needs to bust out the keys and unlock his, man. I’m waiting, but I’m not holding my breath.”

Chicago industrial metal outfit DOPE has released a video teaser showcasing the brand new track titled “Drug Music”, to be featured on the band’s sixth LP, titled “Blood Money”, scheduled for release in March 2014.

Speaking publicly for the first time in four years, founder and frontman Edsel Dope weighs in what fans can expect: “It sounds like DOPE. But it’s next level. It’s DOPE in 2014. With every record, the chemistry changes, the band changes and the sound expands. I’m really happy with how it’s turning out. It’s heavy, it’s pointed, it’s punk, pissed off, angry, electronic, noisy, melodic and metal. It picks up where ‘No Regrets’ left off and yet somehow has a lot of the punk/industrial energy of the early ‘Felons And Revolutionaries’ stuff. It’s DOPE. And like all DOPE, it’s best when played extremely loud and while traveling at dangerously high speeds.”

DOPE is returning after a four-year hiatus that concluded after touring alongside BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and SEVENDUST following the release of the band’s fifth album, “No Regrets”.

“Truth is, after 13 years of non-stop recording and touring with DOPE, I was burnt and I just needed a break from it all,” says Edsel.

He continues, “I’m ready to go now! I’m excited to get out there and re-connect with the fans and with that energy and feeling of being on tour.

“We are gonna do a month worth of shows and lose our fuckin’ minds before I slide back into the studio and put the finishing touches on the new album.”

During the short break, DOPE‘s fourth LP, “American Apathy”, eclipsed one hundred thousand units sold in the U.S. Edsel continues, “Selling a hundred thousand records now days is incredibly respectable. It’s awesome to know that our albums keep moving month after month on iTunes and in what few record stores still exist on planet earth. It’s pretty fuckin’ cool to gradually reach these milestones. It is extremely gratifying.”

DOPE will hit the road next week for a month’s worth of club dates before heading over to Russia at the end of October. Edsel adds, “My DOPE batteries are recharged and I am psyched to be back to it full time. The energy of the new music is off the chain! I can’t wait to finish it all up and be out there and tour the world.” SOIL will be joining DOPE on this the month worth of shows.

During the time away, Edsel has assembled the latest lineup.

“With every DOPE album, the lineup shakes up a bit,” says Edsel. “People grow, visions change and opportunities arise. It’s just part of the process and it has always shaken out to be this way. Everyone has there own passions and we all support each other. DOPE has become like a fraternity and I am on great terms with all of the guys who have ever played with me.”

Edsel has reunited with former touring DOPE drummer and MUSHROOMHEAD percussionist Dan “Dubs” Fox while adding new guitarist Nikk Dibs and bassist Jerms Genske, former lead vocalist of DIRGE WITHIN. Longtime DOPE guitarist Virus, who is also a member of DEVICE with David Draiman of DISTURBED, recently performed a handful of shows with DOPE in August and will be joining the band for dates in Russia at the end of October.

“I love playing with Virus. He’s my boy! I’m proud of him! He’s kicking ass with DEVICE. He kicks ass at whatever he does and we will kick ass together again in the near future,” concludes Edsel.

Original bassist Acey Slade recently returned to DOPE for a handful of Midwestern shows and will also be performing in Russia with Edsel, Virus, and Dubs at the end of October.
