Sofia Metal Chick conducted an interview with Adam “Nergal” Darski of Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH on August 9 at the Getaway Rock festival in Gävle, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is fan-filmed video footage of the band performing a brand new song, “Blow Your Trumpet, Gabriel”, at the event.

“Blow Your Trumpet, Gabriel”, which was previously described by Darski as “killer” and “a monster,” will be included on the band’s tenth full-length album, “The Satanist”, due in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Metal Blade in North America. The CD was recorded at Hertz studio in Bialystok, Poland with the help of the Wieslawscy brothers and Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD). Other songtitles set to appear on the effort include “Messe Noir” (French for “The Black Mass”) and “Ora Pro Nobis, Lucifer” (Latin for “Pray For Us, Lucifer”).

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Darski described BEHEMOTH‘s new songs as “very atmospheric” and “very emotional.” “Think BURZUM meets NEW ORDER meets KILLING JOKE,” he added. But at the same time, fans shouldn’t expect the album to sound too far removed from BEHEMOTH‘s past efforts. “Take SLAYER, for example,” Darski said. “Whatever genre they deal with, they still end up sounding like SLAYER. Even when they were flirting with nu-metal, it was a SLAYER record. Same with BEHEMOTH.”

According to Darski, at least some of the inspiration for the new BEHEMOTH album is coming from his five-month bout of leukemia he overcame in January 2011, after receiving a bone-marrow transplant. “When I was in the hospital, I was collecting experiences and emotions,” he said. “I’m pretty sure that it’s coming out now. There are moments I catch myself thinking about how my state was back then. It was me versus life, me versus death. It definitely changed my thoughts a lot. It’s 100 percent being reflected in the record and songs I’m writing nowadays. I’m way more radical than I used to be.”

Charlotte, North Carolina occult rock band Bloody Hammers will release its debut album “Bloody Hammers” on November 23rd in Europe via Soulseller Records (February 3rd, 2013 in North America via Soulseller Records, distributed by RED).

Described as “an addictive album with a retro edge that appeals to both the Nick Cave and Black Sabbath sides of the brain,” the album was recorded and produced by bassist / vocalist Anders Manga at NC’s Greystone Studios. The following press released as also issued about the album:

“Named after the singularly atomic Roky Erickson & The Aliens song of the same name, Bloody Hammers play dark, hallucinatory heavy music that is as primitive and powerful as a dry stone wall and propelled by bassist Anders Manga’s captivatingly haunting voice. Pre-orders for the limited edition CD and LP versions of the album will also begin on November 23rd at this location.

“Bloody Hammers’ full length debut is an explosion of heavy sound and infectious melodies that has been called a psych / hard rock / horror fan’s dream come true and is sure to find favor with music fans who can dig an array of dark sounds from Electric Wizard and Acid Bath to Alice Cooper and David Bowie to Joy Division and Bauhaus. The self-titled LP captures the band’s strong display of dooming riffs, dashboard-pounding grooves and vocals that segue from angry wail to soaring croon while warning listeners of impending doom. Headed to a black mass love-in? Bloody Hammers’ debut is for you!”

“This album is a heavy and melodic collection of evil songs, and I could not be happier with the result,” says Manga. “Stylistically, I wanted to make a horror fueled hard rock album and this debut LP reflects that very sentiment and much more.”

The track listing is:

1. Witch of Endor
2. Fear No Evil
3. The Last Legion of Sorrow
4. Say Goodbye to the Sun
5. The Witching Hour
6. Black Magic
7. Trisect
8. Beyond the Door
9. Souls On Fire
10. Don’t Breathe A Word

Long Island hardcore/thrash hybrid, This Is Hell, has announced a string of U.S. tour dates in support of the band’s fourth studio album, “Black Mass.” The tour will kick off tomorrow night in Schenectady, N.Y., before wrapping up at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Mass. on April 20th.

The band has also released a music video for the song, “Demons,” which can be viewed below. Commented guitarist, Rick Jimenez, “In the downtime we just recently had, we blasted through a video for ‘Demons’ from the Black Mass album. The song is fast, raw and thrashy, so the video is fast, raw and thrashy, and it’s us just doing our thing in the practice space. We’re ready to explode back on the road in the States after our break and bring some ruckus!”
