Jason Newsted has confirmed that he’s back on the recovery road after falling ill with pneumonia last week, forcing Newsted to cancel a number of shows on Megadeth’s Gigantour trek.

“I’m feeling a bit better,” he posts on Facebook. “This pneumonia bug can last a few weeks sometimes… I gotta keep pushing… The show must go on! We’ll be firing up the metal machine again beginning tomorrow [Tuesday, July 30] in Everett, Washintgon. We have a couple of very big weeks ahead with Gigantour and the release of our ‘Heavy Metal Music’ LP on August 6th!

“Cheers and let’s fukking rock! See ya out there.”

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, who is currently busy with his new band Newsted, has been diagnosed with “walking pneumonia” and will miss a number of scheduled dates of Megadeth’s Gigantour as a result.

“I’d been feeling a bit under the weather while performing the most recent Gigantour shows, so I went to the doctor on my day off today and I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia!” says the man himself. “So under doctor’s orders, I’m taking a week to rebuild… My apologies to our Canadian brothers and sisters in regions where we will not be appearing this week. I’m gonna work on keeping me alive so together we can keep the metal alive!”
