Howard’s back…maybe

As we reported last week, former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones is about to return with a brand new band also featuring John Sankey, drummer with technical death metallers Devolved and All Shall Perish guitarist, Francesco Artusato!

Coming together during the latter stages of 2012, the band – who will reveal their name at a later date –  promises a new direction for Howard.

“It turned from bare-bones musical ideas into something that surpassed any of our expectations,” says the man himself. “It went from something we thought was going to be a fun, heavy project into something very real.”

“It’s a different style of music for me,” he adds. “It’s heavy as anything any of us are known for but I get to do some different things people won’t expect. I’ve been singing almost all my life. Being around good songwriters and musicians in my former bands really helped mold me into who I am now.”

Interesting indeed. Meanwhile, Killswitch continue to roll on, with Disarm The Descent landing on April 1 via Roadrunner and Killswitch playing the following UK dates soon after:

MAY
02 – MANCHESTER Ritz
03 – GLASGOW ABC
04 – BIRMINGHAM Institute
05 – LONDON Shepherds Bush Empire
06 – CARDIFF University

Howard’s back…maybe

Yeah yeah, so while we’ve all been (quite rightly) wanking ourselves silly over Jesse Leach being back in Killswitch Engage and new album Disarm The Descent being fucking brilliant, there’s been one lingering question that remains unanswered:

Where in the blue hell is Howard Jones at the moment?

Well, far from deciding to become a freaky recluse and living in a shack in the mountains for ten years or something, it looks like our Howie will be back very soon with a brand new project.

According to Blabbermouth, Howard is about to return with a new band also featuring members of technical death metallers Devolved and All Shall Perish guitarist Francesco Artusato. If true, it’d be the first significant bit of news regarding Howard since he shockingly left the Killswitch camp last year, eventually being replaced by Jesse.

In a statement released at the time of his leaving the band, Howard commented, “I’ve had a pretty interesting couple of years, to say the least, battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and, to be honest, they are the ones that kept me going. The whole experience definitely put a scare in me.”

He continued, “Recently we’ve all been in writing mode, but somehow I couldn’t get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight, I now realize that my heart wasn’t in it.”

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one. Meanwhile, Disarm The Descent lands on April 1 via Roadrunner, with Killswitch playing the following UK dates soon after:

MAY
02 – MANCHESTER Ritz
03 – GLASGOW ABC
04 – BIRMINGHAM Institute
05 – LONDON Shepherds Bush Empire
06 – CARDIFF University
