“Alive In Poland” was recorded in Poland in April 2007 during the 21st edition of Metalmania festival in Katowice, Poland. It features a fantastic, over-one-and-a-half-hour show during which Blaze presented the best tracks from his discography, as well as select tracks from IRON MAIDEN (“Man On The Edge”, “Futureal”).

Bayley‘s latest studio album, “The King Of Metal”, was released in March 2012. The CD was recorded at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy.

The 49-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left in 1994 to replace Bruce Dickinson as the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN.

Hayley Leggs of Bloodstock Radio conducted an interview with FOZZY after the band’s August 11 performance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can watch the chat below.

The lead single from FOZZY‘s latest album, “Sin And Bones”, “Sandpaper” features guest vocals by M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD. Directed by Sean McEwen, the accompanying video is inspired by horror classic “Evil Dead”, with Shadows playing the role of FOZZY‘s evil puppet master.

Jericho told Loudwire about the “Sandpaper” clip, “It kind of started from that and then we said, ‘What if we do a whole ‘Evil Dead’-type homage?’ And then we found this bad-ass cabin in the woods in Atlanta, and just everything kind of fell together from there. We found, right by the cabin, there was a civil war burial ground, and there was this creepy bridge that was near it, and the cabin couldn’t have been more perfect for what we were looking for.”

Asked how the Shadows collaboration came about, Jericho told LocalBozo.com: “Shad‘s a friend of mine and when I was recording the vocals, I wasn’t really feeling the one part: ‘a cat scratch whiplash / a witch hunt in black.’ So I thought it’d be cool to have somebody else do it, like a calm response. So I called Matt and asked him if he’d be interested. I knew they were off and he was at home, so he’s like, ‘Send me the song and I’ll see what I think.’ I sent it to him and he really dug it. He was a fan of ours from before anyways — he liked a bunch of our songs. He thought that ‘Sandpaper’ was one of the catchiest choruses that we’d ever done and so he kind of took it and laid down the part like I asked him to and then he also rearranged the song a bit — gave it a little bit of a different arrangement, streamlined it, made it a little bit more compact, and in my opinion made it a better song. So not only did he sing what I asked him to, he also put his own spin on it and really went above and beyond to create this amazing song that’s just been doing huge for us since it came out. So it was cool. It was cool on a professional standpoint, on a creative standpoint, and on a friendship standpoint to have him involved.”

“Sin And Bones” was released on August 14, 2012 (one day earlier internationally) via FOZZY‘s new label, Century Media Records. The CD sold around 3,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 143 on the Billboard 200 chart. The effort landed at position No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

DEVILDRIVER‘s sixth album, “Winter Kills”, will be released on August 27 via Napalm Records. “Winter Kills” will be made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, “Shudder” and “Back Down To The Grave”) and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites “Clouds Over California” and “The Wretched”), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.

“Winter Kills” is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Pre-ordering the album entitles you to an instant grat track download of “Ruthless”.

“The Appetite” video can be seen below. The clip was directed by Dan Burke of PianoFight Films.

DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011’s “Beast” and 2007’s “The Last Kind Words”.

Comments Fafara: “This is by far DEVILDRIVER‘s most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! We delivered our signature California groove sound alongside a raw and biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of rock and roll!

“Cutting our own path is something to be proud of.

DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record. We cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of metal, and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!”

On August 11, Redd of Bloodstock Radio conducted an interview with Esa Holopainen, guitarist and founding member of Finnish melancholic dark metal forerunners AMORPHIS, at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

AMORPHIS‘ eleventh album, “Circle”, was released on April 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. Production and mixing duties for the follow-up to 2011’s “The Beginning Of Times” were handled by HYPOCRISY and PAIN mastermind Peter Tägtgren, who has previously worked with such bands as CHILDREN OF BODOM, CELTIC FROST, IMMORTAL and DIMMU BORGIR. The recordings took place at Petrax Studio (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM, KORPIKLAANI) in Hollola and 5K Studios in Helsinki. The cover artwork was created by Tom Bates (BLEED FROM WITHIN, DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL) and can be seen below.

Commented AMORPHIS vocalist Tomi Joutsen: “The mystic, androgynous person on the cover represents a spiritual guide. This character was sent from another time and place to help the album’s protagonist find a new path for his life.”

“Circle” track listing:

01. Shades Of Gray
02. Mission
03. The Wanderer
04. Narrow Path
05. Hopeless Days
06. Nightbird’s Song
07. Into The Abyss

10. Dead Man’s Dream (bonus track)

The album’s limited digibook version comes with a bonus DVD containing the following:

* The Making Of “Circle”
* Nightbird’s Song (video clip)

Apart from the CD+DVD digibook version, “Circle” was made available on CD (without the bonus track), black 2LP in gatefold, brown 2LP in gatefold and as a bulging limited box, including three bonus tracks and a wristband — exclusively via the Nuclear Blast mail order.

Cack Blabbath conducted an interview with bassist John Campbell of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD prior to the band’s August 10 performance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

As previously reported, Prague, Czech Republic’s High Court upheld LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe‘s “not guilty” verdict on June 5 in connection with the death of a fan three years ago. The court’s decision is final.

Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a May 2010 incident in which Nosek, who attended a LAMB OF GOD performance in Prague, died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.

Though Blythe faced up to 10 years in prison, during the closing argument, prosecutors only asked the judge for the minimum sentence of five years.

In a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie, John Campbell spoke about what has been the most life-changing aspect of everything that’s happened over the last year. “It definitely makes you wonder where exactly you’re headed, what options you have in front of you,” he said. “I would say just the not knowing whether or not we were going to continue on with the band was an interesting situation to deal with.”

He added: “The incident in Prague was a situation where things were not done the way they were supposed to and a tragedy occurred. There’s a reason why things are supposed to happen a certain way and people are supposed to make sure they happen that way this point forward. Randy takes the stage to make sure everybody’s there to have a good time and to watch out for everybody, I don’t think it’s changed anything at all.”

Elliot Paisley of EQPTV conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Joseph Duplantier of French progressive metallers GOJIRA at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

GOJIRA and the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT earlier in the year completed a North American tour. The trek, which was announced during Full Metal Jackie‘s nationally syndicated radio show, also included support from THE ATLAS MOTH.

GOJIRA‘s fifth album, “L’Enfant Sauvage”, sold almost 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “The Way Of All Flesh”, opened with 4,200 units back in 2008 to land at No. 138.

“L’Enfant Sauvage” entered the official chart in France at position No. 7 (No. 17 on the digital chart).

“L’Enfant Sauvage” (which translates to “The Wild Child”) features 11 tracks of mind-bending, thunderous metal. The CD was recorded at Spin Recording Studios in Long Island City, New York with co-producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD).

On August 10, Redd of Bloodstock Radio conducted an interview with guitarist Jean-François Dagenais of Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based death metallers KATAKLYSM at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

KATAKLYSM will embark on a European headlining tour in January 2014. Support on the trek will come from KRISIUN and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE.

“It’s been almost three years since our last club tour in Europe and we are so excited to come back and blow off the roof of every club next January and February,” says Iacono. “We’ve built an album that will stand the test time and will need many headbangers, body surfers and mosh pits to give it justice and we are building a special show that you will never forget. This time, after almost a decade we have decided to tour the U.K. as well, after seeing the reactions at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air. There’s no doubt it’s time to come destroy. Raise your pints!”

KATAKLYSM‘s new album, “Waiting For The End To Come”, will be released on October 29 in North America via Nuclear Blast. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of the effort. The previously released cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON) will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.

“This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM ‘tribal sun’ logo. It does not represent the end of KATAKLYSM by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence.”

The follow-up to 2010’s “Heaven’s Venom”, “Waiting For The End To Come” was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais, who has previously worked with MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX and DESPISED ICON, among others, and mixed by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).

As previously reported, KATAKLYSM has recruited ex-NEURAXIS drummer Oli Beaudoin to sit behind the kit during the recording sessions for “Waiting For The End To Come”. Beaudoin is also playing all of KATAKLYSM‘s currenty announced shows.

Drummer Max Duhamel announced on April 8 that he was taking a break from KATAKLYSM to deal with issues related to alcohol abuse.

A Fire TV episode featuring behind-the-scenes footage from FIREWIND‘s appearace at the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August 8-11 at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, can be seen below.

FIREWIND celebrated its 10th anniversary by releasing a live album on June 24 via Century Media Records in Europe. Entitled “Apotheosis – Live 2012”, the CD contains 17 songs recorded at special anniversary shows in Greece as well as all over Europe during the band’s “Few Against Many” tour in 2012. With a playing time of 69 minutes, the effort is a great overview of the band’s career so far, which consists of seven studio albums. It also marks FIREWIND‘s final release with singer Apollo Papathanasio, who decided to leave the group at the end of last year. He has since been replaced by Kelly Sundown Carpenter (ADAGIO, BEYOND TWILIGHT) as session frontman for all 2013 live activities.

The cover artwork for “Apotheosis – Live 2012”, which was released as a digipak in its first limited-edition pressing, was designed by FIREWIND‘s longtime partner in all design matters, Gustavo Sazes (ARCH ENEMY, ANGRA, DREAM EVIL) based on live photography by Hans-W. Rock.

In a recent interview with Metal Assault, Gus G. stated about Apollo‘s departure: “People following the band for the past few years would know that we’ve had different session guys at the live shows even when Apollo was in the band because he just had to skip a few tours during the year. So whenever the schedule was getting too heavy for him and he would have to take care of stuff back home, we had to get other guys. So this time, he had to skip again and he was like, ‘You know, instead of holding you guys back, I might as well just quit.’ I think he did the right thing for him, for us as well, because we can only do that [getting session vocalists] so many times and we’re better off trying to find a new permanent guy instead of getting replacements for a tour. So at least now we know that we have to find somebody new, and in a sense it’s a bit sad, but at the same time it’s some sort of relief.”

Asked how Carpenter is doing as the touring replacement for Papathanasio, Gus told Metal Shock Finland: “He’s fantastic, this guy. Everybody who sees him perform live, their jaws are dropped immediately. They’re, like, ‘Wow!’ It’s amazing what this guy can do with his voice. And he’s such a nice guy, too. I mean, we started out with Kelly, ’cause we didn’t know him. And he really nailed it on the songs, he killed it. We hired the guy to go out with us and do the U.S. tour and the festivals, not really committing to further plans. We kind of take it day by day and see how it works between us, and so far it’s been really good. Right now, there are no plans for us to go back in the studio very quickly, so we’ll see when the time comes what will happen. But so far so good with Kelly. I hope it will continue.”

FIREWIND‘s latest album, “Few Against Many”, entered the official chart in Greece at No. 42 and in Germany at No. 90. Released in Europe on May 21, 2012 via Century Media Records and in North America on May 22 through DisManic, Inc. via eOne Distribution, the CD was mixed by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi at Audiohammer Studios (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEATH ANGEL) in Sanford, Florida.
