U.K. black metallers HECATE ENTHRONED have inked a deal with Crank Music Group for the release of their upcoming album. The long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s “Redimus” is tentatively due at the end of November. A short U.K. tour to promote the upcoming opus will kick off at the beginning of December.

HECATE ENTHRONED recently announced the addition of vocalist Elliot Beaver (AETERNUM) and drummer Gareth Hardy to the group’s ranks. The band states: “This heralds a new start as well as a new lineup for the band.”

HECATE ENTHRONED bassist, Dylan Hughes previously stated about the band’s upcoming CD: “The new material is very much guitar-driven, lots of heavy and fast riffs (tuned to C#), giving a relentless feeling to the tracks which we have tempered with a big orchestral sound. The choirs and orchestras have always been a big part of the sound with HECATE and that is very true with this material. In some parts, it recaptures some of the moods from the very early releases. Because of the fact we are recording ourselves, we aren’t pressured too much by time constraints and can spend more time on getting the right sound and mix as we feel in the past we have had to sacrifice certain things to reach a recording deadline.”

Former NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has praised the new solo effort from her NIGHTWISH predecessor, Tarja Turunen, calling it “[Tarja‘s] best album so far.”

In an August 24 posting on her official blog, Anette wrote: “I am sitting listening to a great album together with my morning coffee and the album is Tarja‘s new album, ‘Colours In The Dark’. I can say that if you like Tarja, go and get this album on August 30th. It’s really her best album so far, even if I like them all, but she has definitely found her own style and this album is really great! I especially like the beautiful choirs and her voice is just perfect in all the songs and the guitar sound is great!”

Turunen was fired from NIGHTWISH at the end of the band’s 2005 tour by being presented with an open letter which was published on the NIGHTWISH web site at the same time. In the letter, the other members of NIGHTWISH wrote: “To you, unfortunately, business, money, and things that have nothing to do with emotions have become much more important.”

When a female fan commented on Anette‘s blog posting by saying that she was proud of Olzon for writing about Tarja “so beautifully considering [the] circumstances [under which Anette] became NIGHTWISH‘s new vocalist,” Anette repied, “I have never ever had anything against Tarja and have her albums at home. What the men in NIGHTWISH do and did has never been supported by me.”

Olzon abruptly left NIGHTWISH last September in the middle of the band’s North American tour. She has since been replaced on the road by former AFTER FOREVER and current REVAMP singer Floor Jansen.

Avantasia has posted a video update online about returning to the studio for a new album, which can be viewed below. The band also comments:

“Tobias is currently in the studio working with a legion of guest instrumentalists and vocalists on a new Avantasia album to be released in spring 2013. The album will once again be a Rock Opera based on a conceptual story very similar to the early Avantasia albums.”

Tobias also stated, “”The new material sounds very fresh and new and yet you can hear the old classic Avantasia vibe on the album, it will be an enchanting fairytale again, far away from any musical trends. Our latest album was our most successful album of all time, but I guess it was only that successful because it came from the heart. That’s the only proven remedy I wanna stick to. I tried to lay down any thought of expectations, but instead just do a completely unseasonable, unfashionable and even unreasonable piece of art. Anyway, I feel at home when I listen to those melodies, choirs and guitars. I just talked to Michi Kiske and he said that the stuff reminds him a lot of the old classic Avantasia material in the good old Keeper style. As a fan, now that sounds even exciting to me, so the circle shuts. For myself it’s hard to describe the material in words, I had and have so many ideas that I had to restrain myself a little, otherwise the album would become too long, and I’m trying not to do a double album this time. However, I am really excited, and I just thought I’d let you know how excited I am. I’ll try to give you more updates from now on.”
