Finnish female-fronted symphonic metallers AMBERIAN DAWN have issued the following update:

“We have some great news from AMBERIAN DAWN‘s headquarters here in Finland.

“Many of you are waiting for a new AMBERIAN DAWN studio album. Tuomas [Seppälä; keyboards, guitar] has already penned 10 new awesome songs and those are ready to be recorded in fall 2013. We’re doing this without financial support of record labels and now you can help us make it happen. This album is planned to come out in early 2014.

“We want to do this together with you and we will offer you some very special extras. We have the ‘traditional’ merch things like MP3’s and signed CDs but also our own personal stuff: band gear, instruments, stage clothes etc. You could also have your name written on the booklet of this CD. All pledges are included with MP3 download package. Shipping fee is always included on prices.

“We have so far toured three times in Europe and have enjoyed every minute. We want to do it again. If we’ll get 200% of our initial goal raised, we can manage to arrange a tour too. This tour could be arranged in 2014.

“Now you can be part of AMBERIAN DAWN family and help us making this new album and tour again.”

AMBERIAN DAWN released a compilation album of songs that originally appeared on their first four albums — “Circus Black” (2012), “End Of Eden” (2010), “The Clouds Of Northland Thunder” (2009) and “River Of Tuoni” (2008) — to showcase new singer Päivi “Capri” Virkkunen after the departure of Heidi Parviainen. “Re-Evolution” was made available on June 14 in Finland, distributed by Suomen Musiikki.

“Re-Evolution” was mixed by Mikko Mustonen and mastered by Henkka Niemisto at Chartmakers.

A music video for the song “Kokko – Eagle Of Fire” can be seen below. The clip was produced by Routafilmi, which is the same company that made the AMBERIAN DAWN‘s “Arctica” video.

AMBERIAN DAWN parted ways with vocalist Heidi Parviainen in November 2012. Her final appearance with the band was at the Metal Female Voices Fest at the end of October 2012 in Belgium.

THE 69 EYES released a digital EP, “Love Runs Away”, via iTunes on February 1. The effort included two previously unreleased bonus songs, “Rosary Blue” and “Dracula’s Castle”.

“Love Runs Away”, the third single and opening track of THE 69 EYES‘ latest album, “X”, which came out in September 2012, has by now already become a live favorite with its pure rocking metal riffs and a chorus with a bulletproof hook line.

The larger-than-life ballad duet “Rosary Blue” on which Jyrki69 is accompanied by world-famous tattoo artist and “L.A. Ink” star Kat Von D is the first of two never-before-heard bonus tracks. Jyrki69 said: “We’ve known each other for some years and since Kat is also starting to make music, I thought it would be interesting to have her on board. The song is amazing and with her help, it turned out even more magical — it’s like our own ‘Stairway to Heaven’.”

The final track, “Dracula’s Castle”, is at least equally interesting, as it can be considered pure rockabilly — or rather gothabilly! Jyrki69 shared its background: “THE FUZZTONES is one of my all-time favorite bands and I’ve got to know their leader Rudi Protrudi a bit. We wrote this track with him in Berlin one night before our show and he actually even sings backing vocals on it. Words can’t describe the feeling of making music with your own idol — I still can’t believe it! The song is like a Scooby Doo-on-acid-by-Halloween kind of gothabilly track.”

NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala will guest on Dutch guitarist/composer Arjen Lucassen‘s new AYREON album, “The Theory Of Everything”, due before the end of the year.

Behind-the-scenes footage from Hietala’s recording sessions for the CD can be seen below.

Lucassen previously stated about the new AYREON effort: “[‘The Theory Of Everything’ is] going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write! It’s extra challenging as well, because lyrically I’ve left the old AYREON universe behind and have to create a new one from scratch.

“I’m really excited about the lineup and how everything is PROGressing so far. There is physics involved, but mainly it’s about human relationships and the emotional costs that come with treading the fine line between genius and madness.”

AYREON‘s latest album, “01011001” (2008), sold 1,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on the the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart (which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200).

AYREON‘s 3CD + DVD compilation album entitled “Timeline” came out in November 2008. The set followed the thirteen-year evolution of the AYREON sound from the 1995 debut “The Final Experiment” to the release of “01011001”. In addition to selecting tracks from the existing AYREON discography, Arjen also wrote and recorded a new AYREON song exclusively for “Timeline”. Titled “Epilogue: The Memory Remains”, this previously unreleased nine-plus-minute track introduced AYREON fans to the clear, powerful voice of Jasper Steverlinck (ARID).
