We've had some interesting supergroups this year like Palms and Scar the Martyr, but Teenage Time Killer is an entirely new breed… mainly because there are guest appearances from a slew of legendary musicians and only two core members. All I'm saying is that picture of Randall Blythe with Corrosion of Conformity comes into play …

The post Members Of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY Announce New Collaboration TEENAGE TIME KILLER appeared first on Metal Injection.

Singer/bassist Mike Dean and singer/drummer Reed Mullin of hardcore punk veterans CORROSION OF CONFORMITY recently joined forces with a number of well-known musicians from the metal and hardcore scenes to create the new project TEENAGE TIME KILLER.

The instrumental parts for the upcoming debut release from TEENAGE TIME KILLER, which is named after a RUDIMENTARY PENI song, were recorded at Dave Grohl‘s (FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA) Studio 606 in Northridge, California on the famous Sound City mixing board, which was the central focus of Grohl‘s acclaimed “Sound City: Real To Reel” documentary.

In a brand new interview with Jump Metal (see below), Mullin revealed some of the names that are going to be involved with the project:

* Jello Biafra (DEAD KENNEDYS)
* Tony Foresta (MUNICIPAL WASTE
* Tommy Victor (PRONG, DANZIG)
* Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA)
* Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA)
* Phil Rind (SACRED REICH)
* Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD)
* Pepper Keenan (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY)
* Karl Agell (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY)
* Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (MISFITS)
* Keith Morris (BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS)

Back in May, Blythe posted an Instagram photo of him with Dean and Mullin in the studio and described his contribution to TEENAGE TIME KILLER, a track called “Hung Out To Dry”, as “old-school C.O.C.-style thrash punk.”

TRANSPORT LEAGUE‘s latest album, “Boogie From Hell”, was released digitally on May 20 via frontman Tony Jelencovich‘s (DEATHDESTRUCTION, B-THONG, MASSIVE AUDIO NERVE, MNEMIC, ICON IN ME) Hoffa Entertainment. A physical CD was also printed for release through the Bengans record store.

“Boogie From Hell” was tracked over a 17-month period and was mixed by Svein Jensen at Grand Recordings in Gothenburg, Sweden. The CD’s sound is described in a press release as “groovy, shaky-boogie-rock ‘n’ roll metal … for the fans of CLUTCH, CATHEDRAL, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, MUSTASCH and even VOLBEAT.”

TRANSPORT LEAGUE will embark on a short tour of Sweden and The Netherlands at the end of the month. Guitarist Peter Hunyadi will be forced to sit out most of these shows due to “serious health problems, but will soon be on his feet again.” Filling in for him on the road will be Dan Johansson (GENEROUS MARIA, MARY BEATS JANE).

The band states: “We are really looking forward to play some shows again, and we are very happy that the album has been getting raging reviews all over, from both media and fans.”

Metal Injection correspondent Robert Pasbani has posted a video report from the fourth annual GWAR-B-Q, presented by Ring-Dog Rescue and Slave Pit Inc., and backed up by the fine folks at Brown Distributing. The event took place on August 17 in Richmond, Virginia at Hadad’s Lake Water Park and featured performances by such acts as GWAR, MUNICIPAL WASTE, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, PIG DESTROYER, and the reunion of the legendary X-COPS. Check it out below.

“Battle Maximus”, GWAR‘s first full-length studio effort since the loss of their longtime guitar player Flattus Maximus, is set to hit the streets on September 17 via Metal Blade Records.

GWAR‘s “Battle Maximus” features twelve brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of GWAR‘s latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet… the insidious “Mr. Perfect”, who has travelled through time itself to steal the power of GWAR — the power of immortality, and use this power to mutate the human race into his twisted vision of what the “perfect” human should be. Once again GWAR finds themselves as the only thing standing between the human race and the latest super-powered shithead bent on the destruction of GWAR and the enslavement of their worshippers.

Guitarist Mick Murphy of the Los Angeles-based rock band MY RUIN has been a busy man recently. Besides writing and co-producing MY RUIN‘s eighth studio album, “The Sacred Mood”, with Soundtrack Black Studio owner Joel Stooksbury, he has been moonlighting the last five months with the classic rock cover band CHEVY METAL, featuring Taylor Hawkins of FOO FIGHTERS and Wiley Hodgden.

“I’ve been having a great time playing songs I grew up listening to and have vinyl records of in my collection, and when people like Nikki Sixx and Perry Farrell join us on stage it’s a trip,” says Murphy. “Having Dave Grohl sit in has lead to a few memorable moments as well. He and Taylor are both amazing musicians and all about the old school rock. I feel right at home and every show with these guys has been killer!”

Dave Grohl recently joined CHEVY METAL on stage to cover a few classic ’70s THE ROLLING STONES tunes when they played the “Party In Your Pants” one-day music festival in Topanga Canyon presented by KLVC and Levi’s to celebrate the launch of the clothing company’s vintage-inspired Orange Tab collection. You can check out a montage of footage from the show here:

Mick has also been in the studio writing and recording an album with legendary CORROSION OF CONFORMITY drummer Reed Mullin for the new side project TEENAGE TIME KILLERS which is being produced by John Lousteau. Though still in the early stages, the album boasts guest appearances by an array of rock luminaries such as Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD), Mike Dean (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY), Greg Anderson, London May, Dave Grohl, Vic Bondi, Woody Weatherman (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY), Tommy Victor (PRONG, DANZIG) and MY RUIN vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy, along with many others who are committing their time and talents to the project.

“I’ve known John Lousteau for many years,” says Murphy. “We were both in bands back in the day in Knoxville, Tennessee. He’s been sitting in on drums with MY RUIN recently and we’ve been doing a lot of session work at Studio 606. When he approached me about recording guitar on a few of Reed‘s songs, I said count me in! We got into the studio and things just clicked. Reed asked me to write a few songs as well and it grew from there. He’s one of my favorite drummers of all time and it’s an honor to create music with him and so many other incredible musicians and vocalists. This album is both organic in nature and spontaneous in spirit which is the beauty of it, It has an old-school vibe and I think people are going to really dig it when they hear it.”

“Peace”, the debut album from VISTA CHINO, the group comprised of two founding members of the legendary rock band KYUSSBrant Bjork and John Garcia — and guitarist Bruno Fevery, is available for streaming in its entirety at SPIN.com.

“Peace” will be released on September 3 (one day earlier internationally) via Napalm Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by the renowned California art collective The Date Farmers.

Commented Bjork: “The Date Farmers are native to the desert where we are from. It is an honor to work together with such prolific artists!”

“Peace” track listing:

01. Good Morning Wasteland
02. Dargona Dragona
03. Sweet Remain
04. As You Wish
05. Planets 1 & 2
06. Adara
07. Mas Vino
08. Dark and Lovely
09. Barcelonian
10. Acidize – The Gambling Moose

VISTA CHINO tapped Mike Dean (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) to play bass on the band’s European tour.

Dean handled bass duties for VISTA CHINO at their first North American performance, which took place at this year’s Orion Music + More festival — curated by METALLICA — in Detroit, Michigan.

The final live appearances of KYUSS LIVES! — featuring the same lineup as VISTA CHINO — took place in early 2013 as part of Australia’s Soundwave Festival.

KYUSS LIVES! decided to change its name after a lawsuit launched by former KYUSS members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder prevented KYUSS LIVES! from recording and releasing any new material.

Commented Garcia: “KYUSS LIVES! is now VISTA CHINO!…it feels great just to write that….and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it’s time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick-ass music and tour the world!”

Speaking to Music Feeds, Brant was asked whether there was a slight sense of relief that the legal dispute over the KYUSS name is over. “Absolutely,” he replied. “There’s always relief when conflict is resolved and people can just let go and move forward. That’s where we’re at and we feel great. It’s always unfortunate to experience differences with specific people, but we feel great as a band. We’re really, really excited to move forward into the future and focus on what it is that we do, which is play music.”

Regarding whether the change of band’s name to VISTA CHINO would have happened had it not been for the lawsuit, Brant said: “That’s a good question. The answer to that question is: I don’t know. Possibly. We didn’t really think about it. We were really just looking at what was in front of us and making our decisions based on what our present situation was. But now we just came to a point where we felt that changing the name was appropriate and was the fastest way for us to get back to playing music.”

KILL DEVIL HILL — the band featuring legendary drummer Vinny Appice (DIO, BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL) alongside Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN) on bass, Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) on guitar and Jason “Dewey” Bragg (PISSING RAZORS) on vocals — has inked a multi-album North American deal with Century Media Records. The group’s sophomore album will be released this fall.

“It’s a real pleasure being on a label that feels like home!” says Brown of the signing. “Since day one with Century Media, it’s been great knowing That they have the same mutual beliefs and goals that we do — to keep hard rock and metal alive and kicking, and to bring our music to as many fans as we can! These guys have the best track record around when it comes to hard rock and metal music, and it’s great to know that we’re on the same page and striving for the same things!”

Speaking to Skinny Music earlier this year, Brown stated about KILL DEVIL HILL‘s new material: “It’s pure, unadulterated, hard, kicking-ass rock and roll, man. That’s all I an say about it. It’s gonna be amazing. The tapes I have, there’s no compression, no EQ off the board. It’s just non-stop rock and roll, man. That’s all there is to it.”

KILL DEVIL HILL‘s self-titled debut album was released last year via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD landed at position No. 9 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

“Kill Devil Hill” was produced by Warren Riker, who is best known for his work with DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SUBLIME and CATHEDRAL. The effort was made available in a standard CD edition, as an iTunes digital download, and double gatefold LP.

According to drummer Vinny Appice, KILL DEVIL HILL‘s sound is “like a cross between BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS and a little bit of LED ZEPPELIN thrown in. It’s heavy, but with a lot of cool hooks and melodic overtones, too.”

KILL DEVIL HILL is:

* Jason “Dewey” Bragg (PISSING RAZORS) – Vocals
* Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) – Guitar
* Rex Brown (DOWN, PANTERA) – Bass
* Vinny Appice (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, DIO) – Drums
