According to The Pulse Of Radio, singer Myles Kennedy performs alongside not one, but two of the most respected guitar players on the current rock scene. In ALTER BRIDGE, Kennedy plays alongside Mark Tremonti, and when not working with ALTER BRIDGE, he is the singer for legendary guitarist Slash‘s solo act. The Pulse Of Radio asked Kennedy if the two guitarists are similar in any way. “You want to know a funny similarity? No one’s ever asked me this,” he said. “Neither one of them like fish. [laughs] It’s fascinating. They both — Mark Tremonti and Slash — cannot stand fish. But as far as people and as guitar players, they both are extremely hard workers, and there’s a reason that they have both gotten to the position and have acquired the amount of respect from their peers, because they have great work ethics, and they’re both riffmasters.”

Kennedy sang one track on Slash‘s 2010 solo debut and became the vocalist for his touring band. He then joined Slash for recording purposes as well, doing all the vocals on Slash‘s second solo outing, 2012’s “Apocalyptic Love”.

ALTER BRIDGE will release its fourth studio album, titled “Fortress”, on October 8. The first single from the new album is called “Addicted To Pain”.

The arrival of the album will be accompanied by a single U.S. live date, on October 4 in Orlando, Florida, before the band jets off to Europe for a month of shows starting on October 16.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD took part in a question-and-answer session earlier today (Tuesday, August 27). The session, which was hosted by Nicole Alvarez of the Los Angeles radio station KROQ, took place at the Warner Bros. Records Patio in Burbank, California and is now available for viewing below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently notched the fifth No. 1 single of the band’s career with “Hail To The King”, the title track of its newly released album. What sets AVENGED SEVENFOLD apart from a number of other current rock acts is that they have not used outside songwriters to help them write songs for the radio. In fact, singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio it never occurred to them. “I didn’t even know many rock bands used other writers,” he said. “I knew they did in the past — I knew Alice Cooper used to and, you know, AEROSMITH would use other writers. Coming from Warped Tour and the punk rock background that we came from, it never even crossed our mind. To us, it’s like, we try to create our art, and if we don’t have that creative outlet and it’s not working, I’d rather just wait it out until something that we want to say and we want to put down comes. But bringing in another writer never, ever crossed our mind.”

“Hail To The King”, the band’s sixth studio album, arrived on August 27.

The CD is AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping “Nightmare”.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST.

Five Finger Death Punch’s new album, “American Capitalist,” has charted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and sold 90,509 copies in its first week, making it the band’s strongest debut yet. “American Capitalist” also charted at #1 on the Independent Current Albums chart, #3 on the Top Current Albums chart, #2 on the Top Current Rock Albums chart, Current Hard Music Albums chart, Top Hard Music Albums chart, and the Overall Digital Albums chart. The band’s publicist commented on the achievement:

“American Capitalist’ is a completely independent release with no major label backing, making a #3 charting position a genuinely amazing achievement. Prospect Park is a new independent production and management company founded by Jeff Kwatinetz. Kwatinetz is known for starting former management powerhouse, The Firm, a company once known for managing chart-topping artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park, and Snoop Dogg. Prospect Park’s music division has a stellar track record of tremendous success with acts that not only include 5FDP, but Jane’s Addiction, Ice Cube and Korn, just to name a few. Prospect Park’s project spectrum is leading them into the world of television in January; the company plans to kick off an internet-based online network beginning with the airing of soap operas, including the classics ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children’.”

Deb Klein, the GM for Prospect Park Label states, “This is our first number 1 on the Billboard chart and it’s an incredible testament to the partnership we have with the band and EMI label services. By being independent we are able to take chances and do things quickly and efficiently in this digital age.”

Maria Ferrero, President and CEO of Adrenaline PR adds, “These days, it makes a statement for any band to sell more than 90,000 in its first week, but it is a phenomenon for a Heavy Metal band on an independent label to scan more than 90,000 records.”
