Vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale and guitarist Joe Hottinger of Pennsylvanian rockers HALESTORM were interviewed on the latest episode of the “Talking Metal” podcast. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below. (Note: The HALESTORM interview begins around the 13-minute mark.)

HALESTORM will release its new EP, “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP”, on October 15 via Atlantic.

The EP marks the acclaimed hard rock band’s first new release since their stunning Grammy Awards triumph earlier this year, as well as the follow-up to 2011’s “ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP”. As with its predecessor, “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP” sees HALESTORM putting their distinctive brand on a strikingly eclectic collection of classic songs, including legendary tracks by JUDAS PRIEST, AC/DC, PAT BENATAR, FLEETWOOD MAC, MARILYN MANSON, and DAFT PUNK.

“Like our first ‘ReAniMate’ EP, the songs included here are a collection of both our favorite songs and songs to challenge ourselves,” said Lzzy Hale. We decided to go more ‘bare bones’ with this EP, meaning minimal production with live, gritty performances. We recorded this EP the week of the Grammys, so the excitement and debauchery you hear through your speakers is very real. We hope all our fans have as much fun with ‘ReAniMate: 2.0’ as we did!”

“ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP” track listing:

01. Dissident Aggressor (originally performed by JUDAS PRIEST)
02. Get Lucky (originally performed by DAFT PUNK)
03. Shoot To Thrill (originally performed by AC/DC)
04. Hell Is For Children (originally performed by PAT BENATAR)
05. Gold Dust Woman (originally performed by FLEETWOOD MAC)
06. 1996 (originally performed by MARILYN MANSON)

2011’s “ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP” contained covers of tracks from SKID ROW, LADY GAGA and GUNS N’ ROSES. Singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that recording other artists’ songs helps her own writing. “There’s just nothing like singing and playing and picking apart an already proven amazing song,” she said. “I think it helps you as a songwriter. I’ll write a song and be like, ‘Well, is that as good as HEART‘s ‘All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You’, and I’ll have to be like, ‘No, back to the drawing board.'”

The Dude of the 106.5 KWHL radio station conducted an interview with Pennsylvanian rockers HALESTORM before their August 23 concert at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer. You can now watch the chat below.

HALESTORM will release a new EP called “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVerRs eP” on October 15. The six-song EP follows up 2011’s “ReAniMate”, which featured the band’s renditions of songs by SKID ROW, GUNS N’ ROSES, LADY GAGA and THE BEATLES. The new collection will feature tracks originally written and recorded by JUDAS PRIEST, DAFT PUNK, AC/DC, PAT BENATAR, FLEETWOOD MAC and MARILYN MANSON.

The Pulse Of Radio asked Lzzy Hale if the band had ever been denied permission to record a song for one of these EPs. “We were denied after the fact, actually, on the last cover EP,” she said. “We thought we had gotten approval for ‘Out Ta Get Me’ by GUNS N’ ROSES, and apparently everybody had approved it but Axl [Rose] — but nobody told him. So we had recorded it, we released it, and then he found out and I guess — what was the stipulation? We, like, could do it digitally but not physically, which I thought was kind of weird.”

Hale said about the new EP, “Like our first ‘ReAniMate’ EP, the songs included here are a collection of both our favorite songs and songs to challenge ourselves. We decided to go more ‘bare bones’ with this EP, meaning minimal production with live, gritty performances. We recorded this EP the week of the Grammys, so the excitement and debauchery you hear through your speakers is very real.”

HALESTORM won the Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” for the track “Love Bites (So Do I)”, from the band’s second album, “The Strange Case Of…”

The latest single from the 2012 release is “Here’s To Us”, which was also featured on a February 2012 episode of “Glee”.

HALESTORM is currently on a North American tour that ends in early October, after which the band will head to Europe. But they’ll be back in late November for one more round of North American shows to finish out the year.

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson was interviewed on the latest edition of “The Classic Metal Show”, which is heard live on Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. EST at TheClassicMetalShow.com. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

The autobiography of David Ellefson, co-founder and bassist of 11-time Grammy-nominated heavy metal titans MEGADETH, will be made available on October 29 via Howard Books. Ellefson‘s memoir, “My Life With Deth”, chronicles the story of Ellefson‘s fall into addiction during the band’s early years, followed by his subsequent recovery and the return to faith which championed the band’s rise to fame over the past several decades. The book was written with Joel McIver, the bestselling author of 21 books on rock music, and features a foreword by Alice Cooper. World rights to “My Life With Deth” were sold to Philis Boultinghouse at Howard Books by agent Lisa Gallagher at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.

Since 1983, the celebrated metal band MEGADETH has sold more than 20 million albums, received eleven Grammy nominations, and built a fan base of millions. Still going strong, they recently toured the world with METALLICA, ANTHRAX and SLAYER. Now, in “My Life With Deth”, Ellefson tells the whole behind-the-scenes story of the band and his personal journey from suffering to salvation.

At first glance, Ellefson‘s history reads like a how-to manual of excess, from hardcore drugs to X-rated debauchery. But Ellefson goes much deeper, taking us on a gripping journey from his Lutheran upbringing as a Minnesota farm boy, through the culture shock he experienced when he arrived in Los Angeles and entered the music industry, to his drug-fueled MEGADETH days, and finally how he beat his addictions and embarked on a path of sobriety and faith, entering a new life of Christian devotion. Today, studying to become a Lutheran pastor, Ellefson presides over MEGA Life! Ministries, a foundation that reaches hundreds of churchgoers every week.

Ellefson says: “My autobiography is not the usual tale of rock ‘n’ roll woe, but rather something I hope will truly inspire people. I have dedicated my life to my craft, and I wanted to share the story of how a kid with a bass guitar and the dream of rock stardom literally risked it all to move from the farm in Minnesota to Los Angeles, and with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and a little luck along the way, made the dream come true. I think the readers will enjoy the stories, as well as the hardships, of this way of life as a musician and artist. I’ve been very open about my life’s obstacles and the means by which I overcame them. Now, my hope is that this story will inspire others to follow their dreams and really live out the purpose for their lives, too.”

The book features contributions from Kerry King (SLAYER), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Ellefson‘s current bandmate in MEGADETH Shawn Drover and also former colleagues Chris Poland and Marty Friedman.

In addition to numerous gold and platinum records, David is the author of the book “Making Music Your Business” and has two metal bass guitar instructional DVDs through Rock House Method entitled “Metal Bass Vol. 1” and “Vol. 2”. He is also a featured bass clinician, keynote speaker and panelist on the subject of music and the music industry.

FM96, London, Ontario, Canada’s Best Rock radio station, last week conducted an interview with actress, model, and glam rock icon Bobbie Brown. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.

Bobbie Brown‘s autobiographical tell-all “Dirty Rocker Boys: Love, And Lust On The Sunset Strip”, will go on sale on November 26 via Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The 288- page hardcover was co-authored with California-based journalist Caroline Ryder, who wrote the 2010 autobiography of champion motocross racer Ashley Fiolek, “Kicking Up Dirt” (HarperCollins).

Before “American Idol”, there was “Star Search”. Before there were sex tapes, there were sexy videos. And before there was Pamela Anderson, there was Bobbie Brown.

“Dirty Rocker Boys: Love, And Lust On The Sunset Strip” is the outrageous true story of a Louisiana beauty queen who became an L.A. Goddess, and the dozens of celebrity encounters, rock stars, and tumultuous affairs that followed — Tommy Lee, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Costner, Slash, Dave Navarro, and more.

In 1987, America tuned in each week to hear Ed McMahon announce Bobbie Brown as their choice as “Spokesmodel Champion.” She soon landed on the Sunset Strip, and the dream girl seemed to be on her way to a dream life, taking Hollywood by storm as the ultimate video vixen in WARRANT‘s infamous “Cherry Pie” video. Her future seemed as bright as her smile, but the world of privilege and adoration was filled with demons, drugs, and a downward spiral of self-destruction.

In “Dirty Rocker Boys: Love, And Lust On The Sunset Strip”, Bobbie takes us on a journey of debauchery, excess, fame, and hair products; detailing how touring the world with music royalty can sometimes lead down a rocky road towards redemption.

Brown is starring in a new reality series called “Ex-Wives Of Rock”, which premiered in August 2012 on the Canadian network Slice and was co-produced by the former FEMME FATALE frontwoman Lorraine Lewis. Narrated by Shannon Tweed, wife of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, “Ex-Wives Of Rock” chronicles the lives of video vixen Susan Dixon (ex-wife of WARRANT bassist Jerry Dixon); Brown (ex-wife of WARRANT frontman Jani Lane); drummer and Tommy Lee‘s sister, Athena Lee (ex-wife of SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak); and Sharise Neil (ex-wife of MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil) as they struggle to succeed as mothers, business women, friends and spouses after the party’s ended and the glory days are over.
