Elize Ryd of Swedish metallers AMARANTHE has uploaded an audio recording of her singing the NIGHTWISH song “Nemo”. Ryd laid down the vocals for the track in 2006 when the Finnish symphonic metal band was seeking a replacement for Tarja Turunen. Check it out below.

Says Ryd: “I’ve been saving this for a special moment. And now when I became a singer as I was dreaming of… and been travelling all over the world and met fantastic people and also NIGHTWISH on stage. And have such wonderful fans.

“It is a amazing memory from the day when NIGHTWISH sent me a demo with music and ask me to put my voice on it!! So here it is. ‘Nemo’ from the NIGHTWISH audition 2006!!”

Ryd, who has been touring the world as a backing singer vocalist for KAMELOT, filled in for then-NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon for a show in Denver, Colorado in September 2012 because Olzon was suffering from fever and vomiting and was forced to spend the night at a local hospital.

In a recent interview, Ryd stated about the Denver gig: “It was a very special thing.

“I love NIGHTWISH and I’ve sung their songs many times for myself. [laughs]

“They asked me if I would be willing to sing for them that night, and we decided that if the audience agreed it was okay for them that I sing, of course I was going to help NIGHTWISH out so they could do the show. At least with some singing so they wouldn’t have to do it all instrumental.”

She added: “It was a little bit like a dream come true for me because I always wanted to sing for NIGHTWISH. [laughs] I did audition for them years ago, so to actually be on stage with them was great. And the response from the crowd really helped. I was almost crying on stage because the people were so supportive.”

Tarja and Sharon: New BBFs

Symphonic metal fans around the world are set to lose their shit as it’s been revealed that the new Within Temptation single will feature none other than former Nightwish singer, Tarja Turunen!

Paradise (What About Us?) will land later this month and will be the first new Within Temptation track to be released from their upcoming, as-yet-untitled new album, due out early next year.

“When we had written the first version of Paradise and listened back to the demo we’d recorded and the epic power of the song, we thought of Tarja instantly,” says WT’s Sharon Den Adel. “How well this track would fit her classical voice and how extra special it would be if we sang it together. The more we thought about this wild idea, the more excited we got about it!

“Of course I didn’t know what to expect from Tarja, as we’d never actually met in person ’till June this year. Our first encounter was via a Skype call we’d set-up to discuss the collaboration and we immediately clicked, not only creatively but personally. After we’d spoken, it felt completely natural that we would do this together!”

Within Temptation: Back in the studio, soon back on the road

“It was very nice to finally meet Sharon and the Within Temptation guys,” adds Tarja. “I truly appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to work with them on their song ‘Paradise’. So wonderful that they thought of me! I hope our fans will like this ‘girl power’ duet!”

Within Temptation will return to the UK in early 2014 for a string of dates that includes a stop at Wembley Arena! You can catch Sharon and the boys at the following venues:

FRIDAY            24                    O2 ACADEMY BIRMINGHAM
SATURDAY     25                    WEMBLEY ARENA

We’ve only been sent another update on that new Hell album from our mate, Andy Sneap. What’s occurin’, Sneap?

“Spent most of today refining vocal ideas with Dave and getting final vocals down. We tend to demo things to a pretty high standard but its always good to come back and see whether you can better a take once we are all familiar with the songs. With most of the new stuff we’ve been jamming it as a band after demoing it to find comfortable tempos and little nuances that you only get in a band environment. Getting some great takes out of Dave, he’s really come into his own as a singer since the first record. Also been printing final keyboard stuff and getting rhythms down on another 2 songs. Solid 14 hr days in the studio right now but really confident with every song.”

New Hell album Curse And Chapter will be released November 25 via Nuclear Blast.

Tickets for this year’s monstrous Defenders Of The Faith IV tour are on sale….NOW!

Amon Amarth, Carcass, Bleed From Within and Hell hit the following venues this winter:

Nov 12 Birmingham o2 Academy
Nov 13 Manchester o2 Academy
Nov 14 Glasgow Barrowland

Invictus Productions announces September 30th as the international release date for Slutvomit’s debut album, “Swarming Darkness.” The following press release was issued about the band: “A compelling mixture of all that is irreverent and utterly unholy from the entire career of Satanic, underground heavy metal, Slutvomit owes its influences to all that made black and death metal truly great in the mid ’80s. “Equal parts Possessed, Morbid Angel, Incubus, and Necrovore from their demo glory days, Slutvomit is a hysterical bastard child of these progenitors. Hard, fast, blasphemous, Slutvomit is for fans of Nifelheim, Destroyer 666, and Watain, as well as classic bands like Bathory, Morbid Angel, Possessed, and Sodom.” The track listing is as follows: 1

According to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl was asked by XFM in the U.K. for his thoughts on the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of NIRVANA‘s “In Utero”, the final studio album by the band and second that Grohl played drums on. Grohl said, “I recognize myself back then and I remember what it was like to be in the band but it’s hard to believe that that much time has gone by. A lot has happened in those 20 years, when I think about ‘In Utero’ and what the world was like, what my life was like back then, it’s strange.”

He added, “From the time that ‘Nevermind’ came out in September of 1991 to the time that NIRVANA was over, it was really just a few years and a lot happened in those few years. I look back at this album and looking at the packaging and the old pictures and listening to songs that I haven’t heard in 20 years, all of these rarities and demos, it’s kind of a trip.”

NIRVANA did record some demos after “In Utero” came out and cut its final song, “You Know You’re Right”, in 1993. Grohl recalled the sessions for that track: “We had some time off before a tour, and Kurt [Cobain] wanted to go in and demo some stuff, so I said, ‘Hey, why don’t we do it at this studio down the street from my house.’ And we went down there, and we had three days booked. Kurt came in the last day and we were like, ‘Okay, what do you wanna do?’ And Kurt said, ‘Well, why don’t we do that song we’ve been doing at soundcheck?’ And so we rehearsed it, I think, once, and then recorded it. Kurt did three or four vocal takes, and that was it.”

A previously unheard instrumental called “Forgotten Tune” will be among the 70 tracks included on the three-disc deluxe reissue of “In Utero”, which is set for release on September 24.

The rest of the material on the jam-packed set will consist of remastered, remixed, rare and unreleased demos, B-sides, alternate takes and live recordings, along with two different mixes of the 12-song album.

The “In Utero” package will be issued in several configurations, including a three-CD/one-DVD “Super Deluxe” edition, plus two-CD, three-LP and digital versions.

Grohl also told XFM that FOO FIGHTERS have finished writing their eighth studio album and plan to record it “in a way that no one’s ever done before.” The disc is likely to come out in 2014.
