Terry “Beez” Bezer of Scuzz recently conducted an interview with guitarist Corey Beaulieu and guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy of Florida metallers TRIVIUM. You can now watch the chat below.

TRIVIUM‘s new album, “Vengeance Falls”, made Top 10 chart debuts in Japan, Australia, Germany and Austria as well as a Top 15 debut in Canada and a Top 25 debut in the United Kingdom. This marks the acclaimed metallers second consecutive Top 15 debut in the U.S. and highest-career debuts around the globe — including a No. 2 debut in Japan.

“Vengeance Falls” sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The record — which was produced by David Draiman (DISTURBED, DEVICE) — arrived in stores on October 15, 2013 via Roadrunner.

TRIVIUM‘s previous CD, “In Waves”, opened with 22,000 units to land at No. 13 — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band’s career. The group’s 2008 effort, “Shogun”, premiered with just under 24,000 copies to debut at No. 23. The effort followed up “The Crusade”, which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.

TRIVIUM‘s “Strife” video was filmed in July 2013 at Studio One in Orlando and was directed by Ramon Boutviseth, who has previously worked with NONPOINT, DARKEST HOUR, INCUBUS and ALL THAT REMAINS, among others.

TRIVIUM recently finished touring North America with DEVILDRIVER.

Spirit Of Metal recently conducted an interview with guitarist Ted Aguilar of San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL. You can now watch the chat below.

DEATH ANGEL‘s seventh album, “The Dream Calls For Blood”, sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 72 on The Billboard 200 chart.

DEATH ANGEL‘s previous CD, “Relentless Retribution”, opened with 2,700 units in September 2010. The band’s 2008 effort, “Killing Season”, registered a first-week tally of around 2,300. This number was in line with the performance of its predecessor, “The Art of Dying”, which premiered with around 2,100 copies back in May 2004.

Released on October 11, 2013 in Europe (except for the U.K. where it arrived three days later) and October 15, 2013 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records, “The Dream Calls For Blood” was recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER), and once again features cover art by Brent Elliot White (JOB FOR A COWBOY, CARNIFEX, WHITECHAPEL).

Asked how DEATH ANGEL was able to construct such fast, aggressive, brutal material for “The Dream Calls For Blood” while many of the band’s contemporaries have, to varying degrees, abandoned thrash and speed metal, DEATH ANGEL singer Mark Osegueda told Metal Blast: “I think with us we kind of went the opposite direction. We got all of the experimentation out while we were young back in the ’80s; we tried to push the envelope then and maybe pushed it a little too much. When we reformed in 2001, we were writing new material, sort of fishing a bit, not knowing which direction things would go in. Over time, we started getting on the same page a lot more. Then we lost a couple of the original members, which in turn brought us two younger players who were very hungry to play, very eager to tour, and were also much more thrash-based players. Will [Carroll] is a much more thrash-styled drummer than Andy [Galeon, former drummer], who was a much more groove-based, almost ’70s rock kind of drummer. Dennis [Pepa, former bass player] was a much more punk-derived player than Damien [Sisson] is. When Rob [Cavestany] was coming up with the riffs for the new record, he was definitely playing off those strengths. So all of that lead to us going back to our thrash roots and coming up with some of the strongest material we’ve written to date.”

British metallers SYLOSIS were forced to drop off their North American tour with TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER and AFTER THE BURIAL after being involved in a serious RV accident Tuesday night on their way to a show in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

A photo of the band’s damaged vehicle can be seen below.

In a posting on the band’s Facebook page, SYLOSIS guitarist/vocalist Josh Middleton writes: “Wanting to thank everyone for their support these past few days. It’s been overwhelming.

“We’re really feeling it pretty hard today and are looking like a bunch of slow, old men when we walk.

“Aside from the physical issues that prevent us from continuing on with the tour, it has also put us in thousands of pounds worth of debt due to losing the deposit (and now paying extra) on the RV, damaged trailer, booking new flights home, equipment damage and we’re now incurring all kinds of transport/accommodation costs as we make our journey home.

“The last thing we want is for people to think we’re now cashing in on the accident and taking advantage of people’s sympathy, but we need some help right now so we’ve just released two exclusive t-shirts where all the profits will go towards clearing our debts. Both of the shirts are available as a pre-order at this location. One is the tour t-shirt (now with the majority of the dates cancelled) and the other is a brand new design we were waiting to release when we launch all our new designs in the a few months time.

“We like the idea of you guys helping us and actually getting something for your money, but we will also accept PayPal donations of any kind to: sylosis@hotmail.com.

“I can’t stress enough that we do not intend to exploit the situation.

“Thanks to all of you guys and the entire metal community right now for showing us so much support these past few days.”

SYLOSIS‘ latest album, “Monolith”, was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda in Wales at Monnow Valley Studio and was mastered by Jens Bogren (SOILWORK, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) at Fascination Street Studios. The concept for the lyrics were loosely inspired by the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. The artwork was created this time around by Dan Goldsworthy (ACCEPT, HELL).

“Monolith” can be purchased on Amazon, iTunes and the Nuclear Blast webshop.

British metallers SYLOSIS have been forced to drop off their North American tour with TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER and AFTER THE BURIAL after being involved in a serious RV accident Tuesday night on their way to a show in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

In a posting on the band’s Facebook page, SYLOSIS guitarist/vocalist Josh Middleton writes: “Myself, Rob [Callard, drums] and [Alex] Bailey [rhythm guitar] have just been released after over ten hours in hospital. Carl [Parnell, bass] is being kept in overnight as he’s in too much pain to walk but should hopefully be released tomorrow morning (Montreal time) once some of his muscle pain/swelling has subsided.

“All four of us and our driver were hospitalized, but seeing as Bailey was the only one who didn’t get taken in on a stretcher and a neck brace, he wasn’t treated as urgently. He’s just had his back sewn up and is off to the scrap yard where the RV was taken to get people’s clothes and some personal items — hero.

“We’re all very lucky. We’ve mostly just been stitched up (my eyebrow, a few on Carl‘s legs and Bailey‘s back), badly bruised and what feels like full-body whiplash.

“In car-accident terms, we’re alright, but in general terms we’re not physically capable of continuing on with the tour and aim to get back to our families and friends [as soon as possible] to recover.

“We want to thank the paramedics, the passersby who came to our help, the staff at the hospital and all of the fans and bands that have wished us well. It means the world to us.”

* The Making Of “The Dream Calls For Blood”

In a recent interview with Metal Covenant, DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany stated about the “The Dream Calls For Blood” album title: “The title is basically our motto. It’s what we’re talking about, you know. In our point of view the dream being our band and keeping the band going and making music for your life. The blood is all the sacrifice and all hard work that goes into it and that’s the metaphor for that. It’s not only meant for music. It’s also meant for other people to relate in their own life and goals that they’re trying to achieve and the sacrifices that it takes to achieve these goals. And along with that, there’s also a tinge of aggression in there about other people that cut corners and don’t quite go through all the steps it takes to achieve the goal the right way. So there’s a little bit of a middle finger to those people that go about it that way and don’t fully respect what it takes.”

DEATH ANGEL‘s North American headlining tour in support of “The Dream Calls For Blood” will kick off on October 18 in San Francisco. Support on the trek will come from 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, BATTLECROSS, REVOCATION and DIAMOND PLATE.

“We are so excited to announce this upcoming tour,” commented DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda.

“We worked so hard writing, and recording this record! Especially writing this while on the road for the last three years of touring. And it reflects the triumphs, and mainly hardships, of all we went through while touring. The anger, perseverance, and energy was captured on the recording of ‘The Dream Calls For Blood’.

“This tour is the PERFECT springboard to launch off of and back on the road; hungrier and more focused then ever! With a lineup of bands handpicked by us, you’re basically sonically ravaged from the moment the lights dim at the beginning of the night until the lights turn back on at the end! I’m confident every band on this bill plan on sending you home feeling like you’ve survived a massacre that you can’t help but brag about.

“Look forward to feeding off each other’s energy!

“Stay hungry! Stay thrash! See you on the road, in the pit, and at the bar!!!”

The San Francisco, Hollywood and Ramona gigs are considered CD-release shows and everyone that purchases a ticket will also receive a copy of the new DEATH ANGEL album at the show.

British metallers SYLOSIS have reportedly been forced to drop off their North American tour with TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER and AFTER THE BURIAL after being involved in a serious RV accident last night. DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara broke the news via Twitter, explaining that SYLOSIS “ran into the back of a tractor trailer full speed” and “totaled the RV,” landing three of the members of the band in a local hospital. He added: “My thoughts go out to those guys. This is so sad! Send positive thoughts, everyone.”

Caleb Smith of “The Sick Room” radio in New Zealand recently conducted an interview with vocalist Dez Fafara of Californian metallers DEVILDRIVER. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

DEVILDRIVER‘s sixth album, “Winter Kills”, sold around 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure is in line with the opening number of DEVILDRIVER‘s fifth CD, “Beast”, which also shifted 11,000 units back in February 2011 to land at No. 42.

The instrumental parts for “Winter Kills” were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at Dez Fafara‘s home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album’s cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.

“Winter Kills” was made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, “Shudder” and “Back Down To The Grave”) and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites “Clouds Over California” and “The Wretched”), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.
