Steve Dallaire of Boulevard Brutal recently conducted a video interview with drummer Trey Williams of Maryland extreme metallers DYING FETUS in Jonquiere, Quebec, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

DYING FETUS‘ latest album, “Reign Supreme”, sold around 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 186 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 5 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

DYING FETUS‘s previous collection of original material, “Descend Into Depravity”, opened with around 2,700 units to land at No. 166.

Released on June 19, 2012 via Relapse Records, “Reign Supreme” was recorded at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore with longtime producer Steve Wright (SLIPKNOT, MISERY INDEX). It will feature nine tracks and is “a ‘return to roots,’ with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band’s last few works,” according to a press release. “Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.”

Commented DYING FETUS guitarist/vocalist John Gallagher: “The last album had some groove in it, but [it] was basically a lot of tech; this one is a return to form of older DYING FETUS albums, so to speak — more modern production, though, of course. Everything’s tight, the sound is crushing, the drums are amazing.”

Unique Leader Records has announced the signing of ALTERBEAST to a multi-album deal.

ALTERBEAST is a technical death metal band hailing from Sacramento, California, formed in 2011 under the name GARY BUSEY AMBER ALERT (GBAA). ALTERBEAST quickly began writing songs, combining influences from favorites such as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, NECROPHAGIST and SPAWN OF POSSESSION, along with numerous other classic death metal acts like DISSECTION and MORBID ANGEL. After a year of dedicated writing, ALTERBEAST released a demo in the winter of 2012 and played countless shows alongside such greats as DEICIDE, DYING FETUS, TESTAMENT, REVOCATION, EXHUMED, SEVERED SAVIOR and many others. They soon began gaining momentum in the death metal community and became known for their intense riffs, blistering drums, elaborate guitar solos and a very developed stage show.

One year after releasing their demo, they entered Augmented Audio at Sound Temple Studios to record their debut album, “Immortal”, with former THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams engineering. After recording at Sound Temple, the band acquired Gabe Seeber (THE KENNEDY VEIL) for drum duties. Deciding that it was a must to have Gabe‘s talents on this record, ALTERBEAST booked time at Castle Ultimate with engineer Zack Ohren to record drums and mix and master.

Due in early 2014, “Immortal” will consist of eight tracks of extreme, melodic, brutal, and uncompromising death metal.

New York death metal veterans SKINLESS have reformed after a two-year hiatus to headline the third day of Delaware Deathfest this October alongside DEICIDE, SUFFOCATION, BROKEN HOPE, BRUTALITY, DYING FETUS, EXHUMED and many more. The second annual Delaware Deathfest takes place October 4-6 in Wilmington at Mojo 13.

Commented vocalist Sherwood Webber: “We’re back. The classic SKINLESS lineup has always had an undeniable live chemistry and it’s time to unleash the beast again. We’re all old buddies and if we have the opportunity to destroy some stages around the world again, it feels right…. who knows what’s next?!? In keeping with the old SKINLESS credo of not giving a fuck… we’re back to destroy…. we can’t let EXHUMED have ALL the fun!

“Also… if you ever told me that we’d be playing with BRUTALITY when I was 15 years old listening to the ‘Screams Of Anguish’ tape in Noah’s Camaro, I would never have believed it. This is awesome!!!!”

Added guitarist Noah Carpenter: “This is the lineup that put SKINLESS on the metal map, so it’s great to be back. We won’t be the road dogs of the past, but we’ll be playing some select festivals and drinking all their beer. So sit back, slip on your absorbent undergarments, and let the mayhem begin… again!!!”
