SHADOW GALLERY‘s performance at this year’s edition of the ProgPower Europe festival — which is scheduled to take place October 4-6 at JC Sjiwa in Baarlo, Netherlands — will be professionally filmed by eight cameras for a future DVD release.

Comment the festival organizers: “We are extremely excited about a new milestone in the history of ProgPower Europe. The performance of SHADOW GALLERY on Friday evening October 4 will be recorded. The show will be filmed by eight cameras with the intention to officially release as a DVD some day in the future.

“To make this all happen, some improvements have been made inside the venue JC Sjiwa. We will rent stage barriers to give two cameramen enough space between the stage and the crowd. Different sizes of drum and keyboard risers will be rented as well, to make it visually attractive. Our own sound guy Niels, who is also the permanent sound guy of Dutch band DEWOLFF, will take care of the sound. He invited the permanent light engineer of DEWOLFF to take care of the lights during this show.

“As you can see, we try to do everything possible to make this an evening we will never forget, with hopefully an official DVD release someday in the near future.”

Adds SHADOW GALLERY‘s Gary Wehrkamp: “The band captured some of our last tour, and will do the same again at ProgPower Europe so we can share the show.

“Our setlist has a changed a bit and we are excited to throw in some new songs, including some exclusive tunes for ProgPower Europe.

“Join the party and come out to the show. Maybe you will be in the video!”

SHADOW GALLERY‘s sixth studio effort, “Digital Ghosts”, was released on October 26, 2009 in Europe and November 3, 2009 in North America via InsideOut Music.

After the tragic passing of lead singer Mike Baker in October 2008, SHADOW GALLERY‘s latest CD introduced new vocalist Brian Ashland and not only saw the entire band once again sharing additional vocal duties, but also featured guest vocal appearances by Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR) and Clay Barton (SUSPYRE) to complement the release.

I've always been tempted to take a trip to Tilburg in the Netherlands for Roadburn but for one reason or another, I never made it. I might have to finally make it down there this year as the festival organizers announced the Mikael FN Åkerfeldt will be curating the bands. That sells itself for me. …

Sweden’s Sister recently filmed a video for the track “Werewolves on Blackstreet” during the band’s performance at this year’s Sonisphere Festival in Madrid, Spain. Shot and edited by Jimmy Johansson, “Werewolves” on Blackstreet highlights the band’s experience at the festival both on and off stage. Check it out below. Sister also commented:

“The trip to Madrid and Sonisphere Festival was an awesome experience. We definitely had a fucking blast! To share the stage with giants like Slayer, Soundgarden, Limp Bizkit, The Offspring and Metallica is just wicked. Check out our video and catch some of the highlights from our travel.

“Sonisphere is indeed a great festival both on and off stage. We want to send out a big thanks to the festival organizers and to our Spanish fans! And of course Jimmy, son of K, Johansson for shooting and editing all of our stupidities. See you guys next time!”

The upcoming 2012 edition of Germany’s Summer Breeze festival will be taking place this coming August 16th – 18th. The festival organizers have issued the following announcement about confirming Desaster for the lineup:

“Unbelievable it’s already been nine years since the last time DESASTER played SUMMER BREEZE. Well, it looks like there is some catching up to do in Dinkelsbühl in terms of blackened thrash metal, or thrashing black metal, whatever you want to call it.

“Tormentor and company are bringing along their new album ‘The Arts Of Destruction’, which proves, uncompromisingly as usual, that even after 24 years of existance no fashion or trend has been able to corrupt the ethics of this Koblenz underground institution.

“As always, the four witchmasters are synonimous with metal true and pure. A feast for all denim cutoff and studded leather fetishists! Nice to see that, among all the plastic imitations of our time, there are still a few originals left.”

After Demonical announced it will not be playing Rites of Darkness, Disma, Evoken, and Funebrarum have all checked with the following joint statement about canceling their appearances at the festival:

“We have all decided to cancel our appearances at ‘The Rites of Darkness Festival’ in San Antonio, Texas on December 10-11th due to the fact that the promoter has still not followed through with his promises and obligations to us (tickets, transportation, hotels etc). We apologize to our fans who have already purchased tickets but the situation is beyond our control. We have reached the end of our patience with Daniel Serna and foresee only more problems. Again we are sorry to have to make this decision but this treatment and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable!!”

Evoken also added:

“Apologies for those looking forward to seeing Evoken as well as our brothers Disma and Funebrarum. We promise to make it up to those who paid their hard earned money to see us. This wasn’t a decision taken light.

“We’re not here to slam anyone, but being one of the first bands announced for the festival, it should not take up until one week before a performance to receive any information. We will not re-consider, we will not compromise.”
