The official video for “Beneath A Veil Of Crying Souls”, the new single from Swedish progressive/power metal veterans TAD MOROSE, can be seen below. The single will be released on September 28.

After a 10-year hiatus, TAD MOROSE will release its seventh album, “Revenant”, on November 20 via Despotz Records. The CD was recorded at Claustrophobic Studio in Gävle, Sweden.

TAD MOROSE is a band that I’ve followed since my teenage days,” said Despotz founder Ömer Akay. “They have their unique sound of melodic power metal and a touch of prog metal.

“After a decade of silence, it will be an honour to put TAD MOROSE back on the map again!”

Added TAD MOROSE guitarist Christer “Krunt” Anderson: “It was through our new management, Lena Graaf at GMR Music Group, that we came in contact with Despotz Records. They seem to be a hard-working and innovative record label, so to sign with them feels very good. It will be very exciting to work with them and we look forward to the release of our seventh album, ‘Revenant’, in November.”

TAD MOROSE debuted back in 1993 with the album “Leaving The Past Alive” and has since released five LPs and toured all around the world.

TAD MOROSE in August 2008 announced the addition of singer Ronny Hemlin (STEEL ATTACK) and bassist Tommi Karppanen (ex-MORGANA LEFAY) to the group’s ranks.

Original ENTOMBED members Alex Hellid (guitar), Ulf “Uffe” Cederlund (guitar) and Nicke Andersson (drums) will rejoin forces to perform the band’s classic second album, “Clandestine”, on February 1, 2014 at Gävle Konserthus in Gävle, Sweden. They will be backed by the 65-piece Gävle Symphonic Orchestra and a 40-piece choir.

Says Alex: “We will be performing ‘Clandestine’ as arranged by Thomas Von Wachenfeldt and it will be the first time in 17 years that me, Uffe and Nicke play together again as ENTOMBED.

“We are all very excited to start working on this project and look forward to see where it’ll take us!”

ENTOMBED previously performed “Clandestine” in its entirety with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra on April 12, 2013 at Tonhallen in Sundsvall, Sweden. A recording of the song “Blessed Be” from that show can be streamed using the audio player below.

Hellid was not involved in the writing and recording of “Back To The Front”, the recently completed album by a completely different band calling itself ENTOMBED, featuring vocalist — and sole original member — Lars Göran Petrov alongside Olle Dahlstedt (drums), Nico Elgstrand (guitar) and Victor Brandt (bass).

Asked in a recent interview with France’s MetalChroniques.fr if the omission of Hellid‘s name from the ENTOMBED biography accompanying a promotional copy of “Back To The Front” was a mistake on the record label’s part, Petrov replied: “I do not want to speak publicly about this at the moment; this is something we want to keep internal and private for now. But this is not an error in the biography. Next question?”

Century Media Records announced earlier in the week that the release date of “Back To The Front” was being pushed back to early 2014 from the previously announced October 29 due to “unpredictable technical problems.”

Hellid did not accompany the Petrov-fronted lineup of ENTOMBED when the band performed at the Manizales Grita Rock festival in Colombia last month.

Fan-filmed video footage of PHILM performing a brand new song called “Train” on August 10 at the Getaway Rock festival in Gävle, Sweden can be seen below.

PHILM is the Los Angeles-based experimental post-hardcore triumvirate featuring former SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, guitarist/vocalist Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE), and bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR).

Stated Lombardo about “Train”: “The beat sounded like a steam engine or a powerful freight train. We decided to write a song around it.”

PHILM released its debut album, “Harmonic”, on May 15, 2012 via Ipecac Recordings.

“When people hear about my involvement in PHILM, they automatically assume that it will compare to SLAYER‘s sound,” explained Lombardo. “They couldn’t be more different. I have scaled down my drum set to a four-piece, reminiscent of the drummers from the late ’60s that influenced me. Each song is unique in itself, I like to refer to it as ‘rhythmic emotion.’ It’s almost like taking all the heavy songs of the ’60s and bringing that era to a modern plateau, then blending them with the modern trance and psychedelic sounds of today.”

Lombardo sat out SLAYER‘s Australian tour in February/March due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX). Dave has since been replaced in the band by Paul Bostaph, who was SLAYER‘s drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the group.

Sofia Metal Chick conducted an interview with guitarist Corey Beaulieu of Florida metallers TRIVIUM on August 10 at the Getaway Rock festival in Gävle, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below.

TRIVIUM‘s eagerly awaited new album, “Vengeance Falls”, will be released on October 15 via Roadrunner Records. Produced by David Draiman (DISTURBED, DEVICE), the follow-up to 2011’s “In Waves” is available for pre-order at Trivium.org. The first single, “Strife”, is available as an instant download with all pre-orders.

‘Vengeance Falls’ is the culmination of everything we’ve gone through; the representation of struggle endured from within and experienced from the world. Every failure and every success has led us to this moment. ‘Vengeance Falls’ is this moment in time,” said TRIVIUM vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy.

Producer David Draiman added: “‘Vengeance Falls’ is a masterpiece of metal. It is [TRIVIUM‘s] finest work to date, and a record so strong that it will blow the doors open to a world they deserve to dominate.”

Long hailed as one of modern metal’s most powerful live acts, TRIVIUM will hit the road hard in support of “Vengeance Falls”, kicking off with a North American co-headline tour alongside DEVILDRIVER. The dates get underway Thursday, September 12 at Boise, Idaho’s Knitting Factory and then continue through mid-October.

“Vengeance Falls” marks a massive creative milestone for the acclaimed metallers. The collection — recorded earlier this year at Draiman‘s Austin, Texas home studio — sees the band pushing the envelope on their own distinctive sound, a sonic approach that saw “In Waves” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart upon its release, not to mention a stunning Top-15 debut on The Billboard 200 — their highest chart rankings to date.

“Vengeance Falls” track listing:

01. Brave This Storm
02. Vengeance Falls
03. Strife
04. No Way To Heal
05. To Believe
06. At The End Of This War
07. Through Blood And Dirt And Bone
08. Villainy Thrives
09. Incineration: The Broken World
10. Wake (The End Is Nigh)

TRIVIUM filmed a video for an as-yet-undiclosed song off “Vengeance Falls” last month at Studio One in Orlando. The clip was directed by Ramon Boutviseth, who has previously worked with NONPOINT, DARKEST HOUR, INCUBUS and ALL THAT REMAINS, among others. Check out photos from the video shoot at this location.

TRIVIUM will hit the road in North America this fall with DEVILDRIVER, AFTER THE BURIAL and SYLOSIS.

Sofia Metal Chick conducted an interview with Adam “Nergal” Darski of Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH on August 9 at the Getaway Rock festival in Gävle, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is fan-filmed video footage of the band performing a brand new song, “Blow Your Trumpet, Gabriel”, at the event.

“Blow Your Trumpet, Gabriel”, which was previously described by Darski as “killer” and “a monster,” will be included on the band’s tenth full-length album, “The Satanist”, due in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Metal Blade in North America. The CD was recorded at Hertz studio in Bialystok, Poland with the help of the Wieslawscy brothers and Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD). Other songtitles set to appear on the effort include “Messe Noir” (French for “The Black Mass”) and “Ora Pro Nobis, Lucifer” (Latin for “Pray For Us, Lucifer”).

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Darski described BEHEMOTH‘s new songs as “very atmospheric” and “very emotional.” “Think BURZUM meets NEW ORDER meets KILLING JOKE,” he added. But at the same time, fans shouldn’t expect the album to sound too far removed from BEHEMOTH‘s past efforts. “Take SLAYER, for example,” Darski said. “Whatever genre they deal with, they still end up sounding like SLAYER. Even when they were flirting with nu-metal, it was a SLAYER record. Same with BEHEMOTH.”

According to Darski, at least some of the inspiration for the new BEHEMOTH album is coming from his five-month bout of leukemia he overcame in January 2011, after receiving a bone-marrow transplant. “When I was in the hospital, I was collecting experiences and emotions,” he said. “I’m pretty sure that it’s coming out now. There are moments I catch myself thinking about how my state was back then. It was me versus life, me versus death. It definitely changed my thoughts a lot. It’s 100 percent being reflected in the record and songs I’m writing nowadays. I’m way more radical than I used to be.”

Radiosuicide Photography‘s RSPTV conducted an interview with drummer Matt Byrne of Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED on August 9 at the Getaway Rock festival in Gävle, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below.

HATEBREED‘s new album, “The Divinity Of Purpose”, sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 20 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was made available on January 29 in North America via Razor & Tie and on January 25 in Europe through Nuclear Blast. The CD was co-produced by HATEBREED, Chris “Zeuss” Harris (SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL) and Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD), with Wilbur also handling mixing duties. The cover artwork was created and illustrated by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ATHEIST, SIGH, ANACRUSIS, GWAR) and can be seen below.

In a recent interview with PureGrainAudio.com, Novinec stated about the musical direction of “The Divinity Of Purpose”: “We are a universal band like MOTÖRHEAD, where we appeal to rock, metal and hardcore fans, and we feel that we can step outside of our boundaries at times. We did that about as much as we wanted to on the last record and some people were into it and some people weren’t, but there were some great songs in there. I think, definitely, for this one, we wanted it more straightforward; more meat and potatoes. We are a band that has been around for a long time and it is really difficult to come up with something fresh, but I think we achieved that on ‘The Divinity Of Purpose’. More than anything, though, I am really proud at what a solid effort this record is from the beginning to the end.”

Regarding the cover artwork for “The Divinity Of Purpose”, Novinec said: “We had an artist who has done stuff for SODOM and TESTAMENT and others do this one for us. It was kind of a risk, because a lot of people thought, once they saw the cover, that the album was going to be really, really metal, and that is not the case at all. We wanted something different. We are open to different things and experimenting, and we certainly did that with this album cover, but when you look at it, it has the black-and-red classic HATEBREED look to it even though it is something new to us with the painting. I think it is real cool. This is an exciting time for us; everything from having a new album out, being on tour and the artwork.”
