Brazilian death metallers KRISIUN joined German thrashers DESTRUCTION on stage on Sunday, September 22 at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to perform a cover version of the VENOM classic “Black Metal”. Video footage of the performance can be seen below.

Said DESTRUCTION vocalist/bassist Marcel “Schmier” Schirmer: “I would like to dedicate this performance to my old-time buddy Michael Trengert [Nuclear Blast, Metal Blade] that passed away in that night when we were on stage in Rio.

Michael was one of the founders of the German metal scene, a great friend and maybe the most honest guy in this monkey business. He will be missed like no one else!

“RIP, brother — your legacy will never die!”

DESTRUCTION‘s 30th-anniversary album, “Spiritual Genocide”, was released on November 23, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011’s “Day Of Reckoning” was recorded at Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf, Germany with engineer Martin Buchwalter and was mixed by Andy Classen. The album features guest appearances by Thomas “Angelripper” Such (SODOM), Andreas “Gerre” Geremia (TANKARD) and Ol Drake (EVILE). In addition, the “Mad Butcher”/“Release From Agony” lineup of DESTRUCTION — featuring guitarist Harry Wilkens and drummer Oliver Kaiser — reunited for one song.

Full Throttle Rock recently conducted an interview with German metal queen Doro Pesch. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Full Throttle Rock: Congratulations on what has been an outstanding career; could you have imagined when you started out singing that your career would last 30 years?

Doro Pesch: Oh no, no. It was, like, when I started I thought maybe two, three, four years. After thirty years, it has been great. It has been a hard fight, but it has been fantastic, touring around the world with many great experiences, many great friends. We toured with all the bands I love, that I would never have imagined I’d have a chance to talk to them, then we were on tour with all my heroes, Ronnie James Dio, JUDAS PRIEST, SCORPIONS, MOTÖRHEAD, and it has been a great amazing time.

Full Throttle Rock: Congratulations on the release of the “Raise Your Fist” album. You must be incredibly proud at how this album turned out?

Doro Pesch: Yes, yes, absolutely. I think, you know, what can be better than a duet with the man, Lemmy Kilmister. I love that song, it is called “It Still Hurts”. It is very soulful and it is totally different to what people expect, but I think it is a killer song. And the title track, “Raise Your Fist In The Air”, actually is our new anthem, almost like the same feedback like “All We Are”, which is usually our big thing. We play “All We Are” as the last song in the set and everybody gets crazy, but “Raise Your Fist In The Air”, you know, is totally doing the same. I always wanted to have another anthem. Then there are a couple of very fast, speed metal songs like “Revenge” and “Little Headbanger” and one song which I really love is dedicated to Ronnie James Dio which is called “Hero” and I play it at every concert and people are usually moved to tears. I know millions of rock fans feel the same and we had a great chance to tour with Ronnie and we actually became great friends over the last ten years.

Full Throttle Rock: I think “Raise Your Fist” and the last album, “Fear No Evil”, have had a very strong WARLOCK feel about them. Do you feel that too?

Doro Pesch: Yeah, well, I think you could say that. Yeah, it is more the metal spirit, I feel the last couple of years that metal is getting so huge again, I think every record is a sign of the times and I think the last five, six years, it is bigger than ever. When I start writing a record, I do not think like that, I do not think about it, but in the end, when it comes out or it is finished, you think, yeah, it has a lot of old-school great things on it. I always love anthems, but stuff comes out when it comes out, you know. Sometimes you cannot even force it. When something comes out naturally, that is what you are hoping for, and I think on this album many things came out naturally.

Full Throttle Rock: A question I ask a lot of bands I speak to is about metal fans and their incredible loyalty to the genre. Do you have any thoughts on why they remain so devoted and loyal to their favourite bands the way they do?

Doro Pesch: I tell you that is why I have never been married; I love the metal fans. To me, it is like they are my family, my closest friends, and I would do anything for the fans and that will never ever change. They can count on me, because I know I can count on them. The fans worldwide have a heart of gold and they are great people with great spirits and I would totally trust them with my life, which I always do every day. I am so happy to belong to this great metal family, to be one with them, to be a part of them, and I am a fan myself. I think it is something special, something unique, and I am still a big metalhead.

“The Metal Voice” recently conducted an interview with guitarist Wolf Hoffmann of reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT. Hoffmann talked about ACCEPT‘s upcoming documentary, his line of wine, the band’s upcoming concert DVD; and the dates in Finland with fellow German metal/hard rock legends SCORPIONS. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked about the status of the songwriting and recording sessions for ACCEPT‘s follow-up to 2012’s “Stalingrad”, Hoffmann told Metal Shock Finland: “Our upcoming album is hopefully going to be out next year. We’ve started working on writing some songs; we haven’t recorded anything yet. But over the winter — maybe early next year — we’ll start recording it and try to make it every bit as good as the last one, maybe even better, if we succeed, we’ll see… It’s going to be as heavy as the rest.”

ACCEPT‘s new CD is once again being helmed by British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY), who worked on the band’s last two studio efforts: “Stalingrad” and 2010’s “Blood Of The Nations”.

ACCEPT‘s April 12 concert at Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago, Chile was professionally filmed for the band’s forthcoming DVD.

“Stalingrad” sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 81 on The Billboard 200 chart. “Blood Of The Nations” opened with around 2,900 units back in September 2010 to land at No. 187.

“Stalingrad” was released on April 6, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Irish metallers STORMZONE will release their fourth album, “Three Kings”, on September 2 via the U.K. label Metal Nation Ltd.

The official video for the CD’s title track can be seen below.

Formed in 2006, STORMZONE originally signed to U.K. hard rock label Escape Music. 2007 saw this company release the band’s debut album, “Caught In The Act”, in Europe where its impact gained the band attention in Japan and the CD saw a release there shortly afterwards.

Over the next few years, STORMZONE concentrated on extensive touring and supported bands such as Y&T, TESLA, STRYPER, SAXON, CINDERELLA, L.A. GUNS, WINGER and WHITE LION as well as securing great positions at festivals in Europe, including Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock, Lorca Rock in Spain and Headbangers Open Air. The band developed a heavier sound over the years and recorded its second album, “Death Dealer”, which was released by German metal label SPV/Steamhammer. This CD was produced by the legendary Neal Kaye, the man widely regarded as the person who discovered IRON MAIDEN. The live work continued in support of this new album, and while touring with TESLA in the U.K., the band came to the attention of head of Metal Nation Ltd., Jess Cox. Jess was the original singer in NWOBHM band TYGERS OF PAN TANG and he formed a lasting bond with the band, which was to see him eventually become their manager. Jess secured a deal with SPV for the band’s third album, “Zero To Rage”, and this was released throughout Europe to great reviews in 2011.

And so to album number four for this Irish metal five-piece. Free of all contracts in 2013, the band wrote and recorded “Three Kings” and with regards to which label was going to release it there was no doubt in the minds of STORMZONE as to who that was going to be. Seeing as the band had just signed a management deal with Steve Simms at Blink Music Management, as that company were based in Belfast, this allowed Jess Cox to sign the band to his Metal Nation label to maintain the relationship he had built with them and now he could put all his efforts into promoting STORMZONE and “Three Kings” as head of their record label. Jess and the band met at the Metal Assault festival in Germany earlier in 2013 and agreed that there would be no better label than Metal Nation to have the best interests of STORMZONE at heart. A great relationship had already been formed and the legacy of Jess and the label in the world of the NWOBHM was important to the everyone’s decision to sign the five-year, three-album deal he offered them.
