Due to “unforeseen circumstances,” NIGHTRAGE‘s former singer, Jimmie Strimell (ENDS WITH A BULLET, ex-DEAD BY APRIL, DEATHDESTRUCTION) was unable to rejoin the band for their September 20 concert in Gothenburg, Sweden. Handling lead vocals at the show was Ronnie Nyman from ALWAYS WAR. Also appearing with NIGHTRAGE founder/guitarist Marios Iliopoulos at the Gothenburg concert were drummer Marcus Rosell (ENDS WITH A BULLET, DORM PATROL) and guitarist Jesper Strömblad (THE RESISTANCE, CEREMONIAL OATH, ex-IN FLAMES).

Fan-filmed video footage of the September 20 performance can be seen below.

Vocalist Antony Hämäläinen left NIGHTRAGE in June in order “to explore other musical ventures.”

Iliopoulos recently revealed that he was preparing to begin the songwriting process for the band’s new album, which is expected in 2014. The group is also seeking a suitable label home for the upcoming CD following NIGHTRAGE‘s split with Lifeforce Records.

Due to scheduling conflicts, Hämäläinen was unable to perform with NIGHTRAGE at the Gothenburg Sound Festival on January 5 at Trädgårn in Gothenburg, Sweden. His replacement for this show was NIGHTRAGE‘s former frontman Tomas Lindberg from AT THE GATES.

Lindberg — who is also known for his work with THE CROWN and LOCK UP — appeared on NIGHTRAGE‘s first two albums (2003’s “Sweet Vengeance” and 2005’s “Descent Into Chaos”) before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007’s “A New Disease Is Born”.

NIGHTRAGE‘s fifth album, “Insidious”, was released in September 2011 via Lifeforce Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and Lindberg.

Radiosuicide Photography‘s RSPTV conducted an interview with drummer Matt Greiner of AUGUST BURNS RED on September 15 in Gothenburg, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below.

After wrapping up a momentous summer that included a Billboard Top 10 debut for its latest album, “Rescue & Restore”, and a mainstage spot on Warped Tour, AUGUST BURNS RED is preparing to unveil its next offering, a brand-new DVD entitled “Foreign & Familiar” to release this fall. The documentary chronicles the entire 18-month touring cycle behind the band’s breakout 2011 album “Leveler”, whose critical and commercial success catapulted the band to the forefront of the modern heavy music scene.

From headlining tours of North America, Europe, Japan and Australia — with stops in New Zealand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and more along the way — “Foreign & Familiar” shows the globetrotting metal titans doing what they do best in settings all over the world.

‘Foreign & Familiar’ has literally been three years in the making,” explains guitarist JB Brubaker.

“It’s no small task to try and squeeze 18 months of touring into a two-hour package, but that’s exactly what we have here.

“I am grateful that we were able to pull this DVD together, as this is something we’ll all be able to look back on as old men and remember the good ol’ days.

“I think anyone who cares about this band will find ‘Foreign & Familiar’ to be an entertaining and insightful behind the scenes look at AUGUST BURNS RED on the road.”

AUGUST BURNS RED is also pleased to announce the Endless Chicago Weekend event on November 22 and 23, featuring back-to-back shows at Chicago’s House of Blues and, for fans holding a weekend pass, early entry on Saturday to attend an exclusive screening of “Foreign & Familiar”, followed by a question-and-answer session and meet-and-greet with the band.

“Chicago has almost been a home away from home for AUGUST BURNS RED,” says Brubaker. “From the Beat Kitchen and Reggie’s to our many stops at the House of Blues and even Riot Fest, Chicago has consistently been a tour stop we most look forward to playing. We wanted to make our stop in Chicago this fall extra special. Certainly looking forward to spending some extra time in the Windy City!”

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have released the first song, “Ephemeral”, off their forthcoming album, to be released in 2014 via Century Media Records. The first track to feature new guitarist Markus Vanhala (also in OMNIUM GATHERUM), who replaced Ville Vänni in 2011, “Ephemeral” will be made available digitally in Europe on September 23 and will be accompanied by three bonus tracks — acoustic songs that can be heard in the background of the recently released INSOMNIUM documentary.

Comments the band: “After the success of our last single, ‘Weather The Storm’, we decided that it would be a good idea to record some new material this summer before releasing the actual new full-length album. This was also a good opportunity to explore different studios and work with different people. Just to explore our sound a bit more in terms of production.

“And here we are finally; happy to introduce you our new single, ‘Ephemeral’.

“The drums recorded by Kimmo Perkkiö at SF Sound (Finland). Everything else recorded by Teemu Aalto at Korkeakoski Studios, Kotka (Finland). The song was mixed and mastered by André Alvinzi and Jens Bogren, respectively, at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.

“It was nice challenge to work on the instrumental side of INSOMNIUM and come up with music that has more cinematic edge to it. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

INSOMNIUM‘s latest album, “One For Sorrow”, was released in October 2011 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with sound engineer Daniel Antonsson (also bassist in DARK TRANQUILLITY and guitarist in DIMENSION ZERO) and at Fantom studios in Tempere, Finland, where the album was also mixed by Samu Oittisen.

INSOMNIUM in 2011 parted ways with guitarist Ville Vänni and replaced him with Markus Vanhala (OMNIUM GATHERUM).

One of the U.K.’s finest exponents of traditional metal, PRIMITAI has released the video for its new single, “Scream When You See Us”. The track, which features a guest appearance by JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner, is described in a press release as “a powerful blast of melodic metal but one that never loses sight of the rich heritage of bands like PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN and having the dextrous six string skills of Faulkner adds a whole new level of intensity.”

“Scream When You See Us” comes off PRIMITAI‘s new album, “Rise Again”, which will be released on October 14.

The debut single from the album, entitled “Fortune Favours The Brave”, was made available on July 31. The track is described in a press release as “a fist-in-the-air, intense slice of no-holds-barred heavy metal.”

Comments PRIMITAI drummer Chris Chilcott: “Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY, SABATON, IN FLAMES, HAMMERFALL, FIREWIND) at Studio Fredman, Gothenburg, Sweden, and recorded by Tom Keech at Stakeout Studios, London, this album represents a year’s worth of blood, sweat and tears. We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with our latest creation and can’t wait for you guys to hear it.”

PRIMITAI recently announced the addition of guitarist Tom Draper to the group’s ranks. He replaces founding member Nick Saxby, who left the band earlier this year. Tom‘s arrival has added a fresh impetus to proceedings as well as, alongside Srdjan Bilic, some inspired guitar work.

PRIMITAI is:

Guy Miller (vocals)
Tom Draper (guitar)
Srdjan Bilic (guitar)
Jamie Lordcastle (bass)
Chris Chilcott (drums)
