Hamburg, Germany based avant-garde metal act Todtgelichter (which was covered in our look at non-traditional black metal ) is currently looking for a new guitar player due to the imminent departure of longtime member Claudio. The band comments: “With a dedicated new guitar player we aim to strengthen our live presence in 2014 and to start the composing process for album number 5. “We are searching for YOU: you are no rookie, you have a sense for melodies and songwriting, you play tight, groovy and in time and (ideally) are familiar with the songs of our last two albums ‘Angst’ and ‘Apnoe.’ Furthermore, you are able to rehearse twice a week in Hamburg/Hamm; you like rehearsing as much as playing live and you are always looking to improve your playing and to broaden your musical horizon.

“Now, it is time to open new bottle and pour a new round, but way harder booze! Album title is ‘Rottendam’ and it will include seven songs and few stranger introduction parts. Follow the recording sessions of this new crushing album and tell to the band if there is some weird ‘spirit’ tormenting them… Studio diary part I viewable at band’s YouTube channel.”

We recently visited Nuclear Blast HQ to be the first to hear the new Testament record Dark Roots Of Earth! To celebrate the arrival of our immense 172-page Black Sabbath tribute, we thought we’d find out what Eric Peterson’s favourite Black Sabbath tracks are…
“Black Sabbath are one of my favourite bands of all time. It’s so hard to pick a favourite track… I guess Into The Void is my favourite because it kicks into this high gear and then has all these crazy time changes, it’s where the elements of thrash metal started. I also love Heaven And Hell because they really invented themselves and made it work. You can’t forget about Symptom Of The Universe either! You can sing all their riffs, that’s how amazing they are. Can you imagine a world without Black Sabbath? We’d still be psychedelic, groovy and far out man! They got rid of all the peace people haha
We just finished doing shows with Iron Maiden on the Fear Of The Dark tour and then got invited to do some shows with Black Sabbath on their Dehumanizer tour. We got to do something like 15 shows in the UK, I didn’t even know you could play that many shows in the UK which was amazing. Black Sabbath were so cool, on the first night we walked around backstage and bumped into Geezer and Tony. They shared a joint with us! I was literally shaking… I couldn’t believe I was about to smoke the same Sweet Leaf as Tony Iommi. I think I dropped it, got on my knees and told them I wasn’t worthy! Still the coolest guys, really humble and down to earth after all these years.”

As a part of our immense, 172-page BLACK SABBATH tribute in the new issue of Metal Hammer – also featuring tributes from Metallica, Machine Head,Slayer, Phil Anselmo, Mastodon, Rush, Alice Cooper and more – we actually chat to Ozzy and Geezer themselves about their incredible legacy and what they have planned for their set at Download 2012. There’s a FREE SONS OF SABBATH CD featuring Electric Wizard, Blood Ceremony, Church Of Misery and more… as well as FREE POSTERS for UK readers! How about that?

Metal Blade has just announced that Swedish death metal band Entrails has signed to its roster to release its upcoming third album. Comments guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist on the deal with Metal Blade: “Being on Metal Blade has been a dream since Slayer´s Hell Awaits came out and given the chance to be there as well is just pure magic! It is with honourable excitement that we have signed to Metal Blade!”

Right now Entrails is in the final stages of songwriting for their third studio album to be recorded during the summer! “Our upcoming third opus is filled with old-school and rotten bastards of songs. Groovy and heavy like a pile of flesh that will be like a punch in your face. To us it’s the perfect step from “The Tomb Awaits” album…beware!”

Entrails formed in the 90′s, but split up before they were able to release a demo or even an album. It took them until 2008 to come back when guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist rediscovered some old tapes. In a moment of nostalgia he decided that they deserved to be released as they should have been originally. With modern recording technology, the first Entrails demo could finally take shape. After releasing another demo in 2009 Entrails recorded and released its debut album “Tales From The Morgue” in 2010.

Massacre Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with melodic metal act Arven:

“Arven is special and they’re professionally educated musicians share one important attitude: a strong passion for melodic metal. A metal band with five females up front, the only male influence is restricted to the drums. Carina Hanselmann’s nightingale-like vocals are the priority for this band, giving Arven its unique sound.

“All in all the sound appears powerful and dynamic, filled with all kinds of dreamy and catchy melodies. Heavy guitar riffs, accompanied by a double-bass thunderstorm and groovy parts are combined with both orchestral and medieval instruments.

“Arven’s debut album ‘Music Of Light’ is going to be released on September 23, 2011! ‘Music Of Light’ features 10 tracks and comes with an artwork by Jan Yrlund (Korpiklaani, Statovarius, Sirenia). Welcome to the Massacre Records family, Arven!”

You can also check out Arven’s music and find more information on the band by heading over to the Arven MySpace page or Facebook profile.
