Terry “Beez” Bezer of Scuzz recently conducted an interview with guitarist Corey Beaulieu and guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy of Florida metallers TRIVIUM. You can now watch the chat below.
TRIVIUM‘s new album, “Vengeance Falls”, made Top 10 chart debuts in Japan, Australia, Germany and Austria as well as a Top 15 debut in Canada and a Top 25 debut in the United Kingdom. This marks the acclaimed metallers second consecutive Top 15 debut in the U.S. and highest-career debuts around the globe — including a No. 2 debut in Japan.
“Vengeance Falls” sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The record — which was produced by David Draiman (DISTURBED, DEVICE) — arrived in stores on October 15, 2013 via Roadrunner.
TRIVIUM‘s previous CD, “In Waves”, opened with 22,000 units to land at No. 13 — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band’s career. The group’s 2008 effort, “Shogun”, premiered with just under 24,000 copies to debut at No. 23. The effort followed up “The Crusade”, which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.
TRIVIUM‘s “Strife” video was filmed in July 2013 at Studio One in Orlando and was directed by Ramon Boutviseth, who has previously worked with NONPOINT, DARKEST HOUR, INCUBUS and ALL THAT REMAINS, among others.
TRIVIUM recently finished touring North America with DEVILDRIVER.

According to GossipExtra.com, former ANTHRAX guitarist Dan Spitz and his wife are filing for divorce — three months to the day after his arrest at his Florida in a domestic violence incident.
The 51-year-old musician was arrested at the couple’s home in Lake Worth, Florida when Candi‘s mother called 911 to report he was trying to choke his wife. The charges were eventually dropped, but Candi says she and the rocker are calling it quits after nine years and the birth of autistic twin boys.
“Life is too short,” she told GossipExtra.com, “No matter how much you might love someone, it may not be the right thing.”
“Obviously, the Christmas incident shows this was a long time coming,” she said. “I hope we can co-parent effectively.”
Spitz posted this statement on his web site: “It is with a mutual love and respect that we are formally announcing our legal separation and upcoming divorce. This is an amicable process and protecting the well being of our children remains our top priority during this time of transition. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”
Dan Spitz is a born-again Christian and Messianic Jew and in interviews has frequently cited his faith as an influential component to his life.
Spitz took part in the reunion of ANTHRAX‘s classic lineup in 2005 and 2006 but left the band after ANTHRAX‘s most recent split with singer Joey Belladonna.

Mesopotamian kings of blackened thrash metal MELECHESH have announced the addition of drummer Sasha Horn to the group’s ranks.
Commented MELECHESH mainman, songwriter, singer and guitarist Ashmedi: “After a lengthy search, MELECHESH are proud to announce the inclusion of new drummer Sasha ‘Sin’ Horn. Sin as in the Mesopotamian moon god. He will be appearing on the upcoming album, which we will follow up with more details. Meanwhile, he flew in from the USA to our rehearsal room in Germany to work with the band on new material and meet the label guys and the chemistry was great. His drumming skills will sure bring in an extra kick to the new album.”
Since there were rumors and uncertainties of the current second guitarist of MELECHESH, the pioneering band clarified the situation in the following statement: “After one show, it became obvious things wouldn’t work out with Sirus, so we mutually agreed to go separate ways. For now, the position is not vacant until a great talent crosses our ways. Ashmedi will track guitars and former guitarist and longtime friend Moloch might be flying to the studio for recordings, but not touring as well. We have two great touring guitarist who are friends of ours and will step in as live session musicians.”
MELECHESH is currently writing material for its upcoming sixth album.
The band’s latest CD and Nuclear Blast debut, “The Epigenesis”, was released in 2010 and received rave reviews all over the globe, followed by eight tours with the likes of SEPTICFLESH and NILE.

Linkin Park: game for it
Linkin Park have been locked in the studio working on a new studio album, and it looks like it’s packing a few surprises.
The band announced earlier this year that they were getting cracking on the follow-up to 2012′s Living Things, with Mike Shinoda recently suggesting that we might see it surface by the time they rock up to Download in June.
Now guitarist Brad Delson says that shred-happy LP warriors (erm, are there any of those?) will be very satisfied with the way the new opus is turning out.
“There’s a lot of guitar solos on the album!” he tells Music Radar. “And this is from someone who was quoted early on as saying I hated them. Not that I hated them as a listener; I just don’t want to play any; I shirked guitar solos. Early on, I felt as though the songs we were making aesthetically didn’t want them. This new batch of songs, to me, always want solos. I feel like every song has one.”
Brad also explained why the band decided to drop a new single so soon after announcing that they were in the studio, noting: “We wanted to get music out sooner than later. The timing just felt right with this song. We finished two songs relatively early in the process, and Guilty All The Same seems to inform the spirit of the record. For us, it’s the perfect lead offering to set the tone for the album as a whole.”
Expect that album to land around summer time. In the mean time, catch the rock heavyweights playing their seminal Hybrid Theory debut in full at Download in June.

Resident Rock Star conducted an interview with Ivar Bjørnson, guitarist, songwriter, and founding member of Norwegian progressive/psychedelic black metallers ENSLAVED, on February 11 at the Summit Music Hall in Denver, Colorado. You can now watch the chat below.
ENSLAVED‘s twelfth studio album, “RIITIIR”, sold around 2,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 8 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
ENSLAVED‘s previous album, “Axioma Ethica Odini”, opened with 1,400 units back in September 2010 to debut at No. 16 on the Top New Artist Albums chart.
“Describing the sound on the new album is both easy and hard,” ENSLAVED‘s Ivar Bjørnson said. “It is easy because it sounds like ENSLAVED, whatever that means. It is hard because there are so many layers and different focal points. I have a feeling that it has a deeper complexity than our previous efforts, but at the same time, I do find it more catchy and moving. Then again, I am the opposite of objective in this, so again I’ll leave it up to the people outside the band to make up their mind.”
ENSLAVED‘s previous two CDs — “Vertebrae” (2008) and “Axioma Ethica Odini” (2010) — were released via Indie Recordings in Europe and Nuclear Blast in North America.

The official video for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH‘s surprising cover of the classic folk song “The House Of The Rising Sun” will make its online debut on Monday, March 24. The song is the next single from the Las Vegas-based band’s recently released album, “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 2″. The disc came out on November 19, 2013 and is the second half of a two-record set, with “Volume 1″ coming out in July 2013.
A teaser for the “gasoline and rocket-fuel-soaked” “The House Of The Rising Sun” video — which was filmed in the desert — can be seen below..
According to The Pulse Of Radio, the original author of “The House Of The Rising Sun” is unknown and the song’s roots may date back to the 16th century.
The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence “Tom” Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded it for Vocalion Records in 1934.
The most successful commercial version was recorded by the English rock group THE ANIMALS in 1964, which was a No. 1 hit in the U.K., the U.S., Sweden, Finland and Canada.
The members of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH discussed in a recently released video clip how they changed up the classic song to give it a hard-rock vibe, most notably, by switching the song’s time signature from 6/8 to 4/4.
“We had the idea to do this for a while,” explained guitarist Zoltan Bathory. “The interesting thing about this song is that [it's] actually in a time signature of 6/8 which is a waltz… and rock music and waltz doesn’t necessarily mix right.”
He continued: “So basically the challenge was: ‘How do we make this song work? How do we take away that goofy vibe and how do we make it into a rock structure?’”
“The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 2″ sold 77,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The first half of “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, selling 113,000 copies in its first week of release.

“The Epilogue”, the new video from ††† (CROSSES) — DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno‘s project with FAR guitarist Shaun Lopez — can be seen below. The song comes off ††† (CROSSES)’s self-titled full-length debut, which was released on February 11 via Sumerian Records. The CD includes the songs from ††† (CROSSES)’s two previously released EPs — 2011′s “†” and 2012′s “††”, along with five new tracks.
In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, Moreno stated about ††† (CROSSES)’s sound: “By listening to the music, you can tell that a lot of the influences come from the new-wave era. That was basically the scene that I came up on. I just happened to wind up in a metal band when I was 15. I’ve always had a deep passion for a lot of early electronic and sampled music.”
Asked about ††† (CROSSES)’s heavy use of the cross in the band’s imagery and songtitles, Moreno said: “I think a lot of bands are influenced by religious symbolism and not even necessarily Christianity or Catholicism. Our band definitely doesn’t follow any of those. It’s more of the aesthetic. The art, the way it works. The initial name of the band was going to be HOLY GHOST. But at the last minute, another band came out with the name, so Shaun suggested CROSSES. It’s a very strong symbol. Three crosses is great. It’s great to look at, there’s three of us in the band.”
††† (CROSSES) made its live debut in January 2012 at The Glass House in Pomona, California.
