According to numerous reports out of New Orleans, Joey LaCaze, drummer of EYEHATEGOD, OUTLAW ORDER and TEN SUICIDES, has passed away. No further details are currently available.

EYEHATEGOD just completed a month-long tour of Europe and was gearing up for a string of dates in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

It was recently announced that EYEHATEGOD would make an appearance at Philip Anselmo‘s first annual Housecore Horror Film Festival this fall in Austin, Texas.

Since forming in 1988, EYEHATEGOD has defied all odds and continues to exist and persist despite personal and professional setbacks. They’ve been called doomcore, sludge and stoner rock, survived line-up shuffles, label hassles and a short-lived split. And after more than two decades of creating some of the most corrosive, vile music known to man, EYEHATEGOD still hasn’t lost the piss and vinegar that fueled it back the late Eighties.

It's been a long haul since Gore Metal, but in a lot of ways it kind of hasn't. Released 15 years ago to immediate success, that seminal album was instrumental in reviving the stripped down, raw brutality of first wave death metal… a genre that, by the late 90s, had slowed down substantially under the …

D.R.I. hasn't reared their heads on record since 1995's Full Speed Ahead, a duration which vastly exceeds the length of the band's recorded history to begin with. Fellow Texans Dead Horse (sometimes stylized deadhorse) have been stingy with new material for roughly the same amount of time, dating back to 1996's BOIL (ing). With band members from both acts having splintered …

Dave Lombardo of Slayer

New focus: Dave Lombardo

Dave Lombardo hasn’t given up hope of returning to Slayer – but he’s not hanging about to see if it happens.

The drummer was suddenly dropped ahead of the band’s Australian tour last month. Bandmate Kerry King said he made the decision at the last minute following a contractual dispute, but added that Tom Araya had been concerned about the situation for some time.

He was replaced by Jon Dette, who played with the thrash giants for a stint in the 90s.

Now Rock Overdose reports details of an upcoming interview in which Lombardo explains “He would like to be with Slayer, he would like to be in the band, but at the moment he doesn’t know how things will evolve, so all he can do is wait and see.”

As a result he regards side project Philm as his “main band” and he’s also reactivating former outfit Grip Inc, with new frontman Casey Chaos of Amen.

Slayer continue to operate with Gary Holt of Exodus standing in for spider-bite victim Jeff Hanneman, with talk recently moving towards the possibility of the change of guitarist becoming permanent.
