Days after the premiere of the new video for “Dead Man,” Ohio’s Wolves At The Gate is pushing forward with yet another new track – “Safeguards” – from the band’s debut full-length, “Captors,” out July 3rd on Solid State Records. Check out the song through the Wolves At The Gate Facebook profile here.

The following press release was also issued about the new album:

“The follow-up to their touted 2011 EP We Are the Ones, Captors finds the band not only living up to but surpassing the huge potential recognized by critics and fans alike. No longer constrained by the limits of an EP, the members of Wolves At The Gate were able to showcase the explosive growth of their songwriting, from luscious, melodic rock tracks to lip-splitting hardcore stomps.

“Produced by Andreas Magnussen (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, etc), Captors is a blisteringly heavy full-length debut with the potential to appeal to every variety of rocker – from fans of metalcore to traditional metal to mainstream hard rock. It’s an album that – like those of some of the band’s influences (AS CITIES BURN, THRICE, FOO FIGHTERS, UNDER0ATH) – avoids pigeonholes and easy labels. With the November 2011 release of We Are The Ones, the band wedged their way into a crowded heavy music scene. Now, with Captors, the band is kicking down the door and taking no prisoners.”

Ohio’s Wolves at the Gate is pushing towards the July 3rd release of debut full-length, “Captors,” on Solid State Records with the premiere of the album’s second preview track, entitled “Awaken.” Check out the song at AbsolutePunk.net here.

“We are really excited to get ‘Awaken’ out for people to hear because this song really captures the energy we want to bring to our live show,” says guitarist/vocalist Stephen Cobucci. “It’s fast, fun, and catchy. It also does a great job of showcasing Nick’s vocal ability. We’ve really enjoyed playing this song live on our recent tours as it allows for us to move and have some fun. Being an aggressive song, I also feels that it complements the lyrical content, which focuses on people questioning God through how we respond to the trials in life that we face and how we treat other people.”

Ohio rockers Wolves At The Gate are gearing up for the release of their debut full-length, “Captors,” set to drop July 3rd from Solid State Records. Today the band is whetting the appetites of fans with a taste of the album in the form of the new track “Dead Man.”

Check out the song via Facebook. The following press release was also issued:

“The track is a blistering introduction to what WATG has in store on Captors – a fusion of hard rock melody and post-hardcore heaviness whose raw, emotional power is matched in intensity only by the band’s earnest approach to songwriting.

“The follow-up to their touted 2011 EP We Are the Ones, Captors finds the band not only living up to but surpassing the huge potential recognized by critics and fans alike. It’s an album that – like those of some of the band’s influences (AS CITIES BURN, THRICE, FOO FIGHTERS, UNDER0ATH) – avoids pigeonholes and easy labels.

“Formed in 2008, WATG began turning heads almost immediately and it wasn’t long before they were touring with bands they had grown up listening to on their iPods, recording with producers whose work they appreciated and signing with a label – Solid State Records – they had long respected. With the November 2011 release of We Are The Ones, the band wedged their way into a crowded heavy music scene. Now, with Captors, the band is kicking down the door and taking no prisoners.”

“We chose ‘Dead Man’ as our first single because of how well it encompasses the entity of our band,” explains guitarist/vocalist Stephen Cobucci. “As a song it has sort of a youthful energy about it that we really enjoy playing and a really solid melody that we feel will draw in new fans and appease long time fans.

“Writing this song quite easily took longer than anything else on the album. I heard in my head how I wanted the song to sound, but it took about a month’s worth of work to get everything to the point where it flowed musically and lyrically. I record all of our preproduction on my computer and there’s a folder I like to call the ‘riff graveyard’ which contains all the riffs I wrote for the record that never made it… ‘Dead Man’ easily had the largest riff graveyard of any song on the record.”

Rite of Passage Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with melodic hardcore act Truth and it’s Burden:

“Rite of Passage Records is proud to announce the signing of Johannesburg, South Africa based TRUTH AND ITS BURDEN. The band’s new album ‘Choices’ is set to be released on May 22nd through Rite of Passage; a song from the album titled ‘Threadbare’ can be listened to on the band’s Facebook page located here.

“Formed in 2008, TRUTH AND ITS BURDEN started out as an idea to bring a sincere message of hope, and to do so with a real sense of urgency. Those same ideals that gave life to this band still chorus through in every song 4 years later. To be aware, to challenge, to follow through, to ignite ideas into dreams, to re-invigorate life itself and to find meaning and purpose. Over the past four years, the band has toured throughout Europe and Africa with bands like The Ghost Inside, Haste The Day, Have Heart, and many others.”

“The main idea behind ‘Choices’ is pretty simple;” stated vocalist Ashley DeBeer. “Making choices that reflect clear consideration for dreams and aspirations, it’s not something that merely applies to me/us alone, but rather something many can relate to. I wrote a lot of the songs during a period in my life when change was necessary and I guess with choices in my life I found there was a constant balancing act that took place.”

“There are many contributing factors to making serious life decisions that balance a good choice and help make things a little clearer,” added DeBeer. “Many of the songs reflect the idea of finding myself, building myself, deciding things and just trying to make a conscious effort at being a better person in general.”

Indiana-based Christian metalcore band HASTE THE DAY will release a live album, “Haste The Day Vs.

Christian act Oh, Sleeper has announced the release of the band’s third studio album, “Children of Fire,” on September 27th via Solid State Records. The band has premiered a new song online titled “Endseekers,” which can be heard in the player below.

The album was produced by Andreas Magnusson (Black Dahlia Murder, Haste The Day) and mixed by Machine (Lamb of God, Chiodos). “With every record we try to push the limits of what we can do with our sound,” says guitarist James Erwin. “This record is an expansion of our sound and the best incarnation of the band to date. Also this is the most in depth we ever taken a concept record. Instead of 12 different stories that tie together around one theme, this album is one complete story where every track acts as a chapter in that story. Listeners will really have to grasp every part of the story to understand it fully.”

“Children of Fire is being established as a flag to rally under,” says vocalist Kinard. “The name, to us, represents a generation born into a time that forced them to band together, stand firm in their beliefs against modern ideology and skepticism, and prevail as a victorious few, holding true to the beliefs held deep in their hearts. Children of Fire is a title that means nothing less than unshakeable and end-seeking determination. The character represented throughout the album endures a perilous journey testing any and all weaknesses she possesses. It isn’t until the end, when she has faced every fear and answered every question planted deep in her mind that she emerges a beaten, battered, and bloody, but victorious, child of fire.”

“When we started talking about this record before it was written we all kept coming back to the fact that we want this record to just be punishing,” Erwin adds. “That word ‘punishing’ just kept coming up, I think we’ve accomplished that. Also, the musicianship and vocal performances have never been stronger. Lots of techy stuff for the guitar and drum nerds. Micah and Shane both took their vocals to the next level. I think fans are gonna be blown away at what they’ve done vocally.”
