British guitarist Mario Parga has announced that he has formed a new Los Angeles based all-acoustic trio called BONNET, PARGA & HEAVENSTONE with his longtime friend Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MSG, ALCATRAZZ) on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Beth-Ami Heavenstone (HARDLY DANGEROUS, TOMI RAE BROWN) on acoustic bass and backing vocals. Mario will provide lead acoustic guitar and backing vocals to the trio, who are currently recording new material and rehearsing for live shows around the world.

Mario said: “I’ve always loved acoustic music and have played the acoustic guitar along with the electric since I began playing years ago.

“The acoustic trio will give us the opportunity to play a variety of songs, from old to new and a couple of instrumentals in an ‘unplugged’ environment with a clear, clean sound.

“The acoustic guitar has great dynamics, and it can be used to great effect for rhythms and solos.

Graham sounds particularly amazing in an acoustic setting; he’s able to use his entire vocal range and dynamics, from the softest melodies to, well, Graham!

Beth-Ami‘s acoustic bass powers and grooves the trio with the bottom end, and her backing vocals complement Graham‘s voice.

Beth‘s been around on the L.A. circuit for decades and can play just about anything.

“We have a few new songs that are being recorded at my place and will be featured on our website soon (www.acoustictrio.net).

“Live shows are currently being set up and will be announced on the trio’s website

“We hope to see our old fans and new at the acoustic shows, and for them to hear us in a new setting.”

German act War From A Harlots Mouth, which signed to Season of Mist earlier this year, recently entered the studio to record the band’s Season of Mist debut. The band has checked in with the following update:

“Paul is currently recording the drum tracks for the last song over at Dailyhero Recordings, while Simon is adding some final guitar and bass tracks at his studio. In other words, the instrumentals are as good as done and we are heading towards the mix in big steps, while Nico is still working on the vocals. Everything is sounding heavy as fuck already, so we can’t wait to move on.

“We’re excited to be back at the halls of Dailyhero Recordings and can’t wait to see the new songs shaping up. All the guitar and bass recordings have been finished at Simon’s Moulder Masters studios already, so we only have to finish up the drums, vocals and mix here.

“Simon is also taking over the mastering duties this time around, so a lot of this record is actually produced and engineered by him, which is a new experience for us as a band. We’re stoked with the results so far, so now it can only get even better!

“We are really getting a kick out of this new material and feel like it’s coming out very extreme, discordant and quite unique.”

Tesseract has just made “Dream Brother” available as a stream via Metal Hammer UK’s website, so head over here to check out this very special cover of the song.

Amos Williams (bass) comments: “We decided to cover ‘Dream Brother’ (originally by Jeff Buckley) for an acoustic session in New York. Myself and Acle spent ages looking at different tracks. I think we entertained ‘Tear Drop’ by Massive Attack, ‘Thin Air’ by Anathema, and many more. But ‘Dream Brother’ just fits Tesseract very well. Plus it is one of our collective favourite tracks. It’s always a risk working with a track that you love, but we feel we did it justice. It’s a great showcase for the musicianship in Tesseract, and the deep emotive power that Elliot has added to the band since he joined.”

“Dream Brother” will be out on the “Perspective” EP that is set for a North American release of May 22nd and a European release of May 21st. The five song digital only EP features “Eden 2.0,” acoustic versions of three tracks [“Perfection (acoustic),” “April (acoustic),” “Origin (acoustic),” from the band’s debut album, “One,” plus the aforementioned cover of Jeff Buckley’s classic, “Dream Brother.” As a bonus, iTunes will offer instrumentals of all the songs on the EP.
