On March 14, Project Alpha TV conducted an interview with vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid of Swedish metallers SOILWORK at this year’s Hammerfest, which was held at Hafan y Mor Holiday Park, Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire, Wales. You can now watch the chat below.

As previously reported, Dutch singer Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP) joined SOILWORK on stage last night (Friday, March 21) at Circus in Helsinki, Finland. The concert was filmed for SOILWORK‘s first-ever live DVD, to be released later in the year.

The choice of location for the shoot of the first-ever SOILWORK audiovisual live document was an easy one since Helsinki has always been a second home to the band. The venue itself, Circus, was just the right one to offer a full-on SOILWORK show.

The show marked SOILWORK‘s only Scandinavian show of the spring.

The DVD is being produced by Jouni Markkanen and directed by Ville Lipiäinen, who also helmed the most recent NIGHTWISH DVD, “Showtime, Storytime”.

SOILWORK‘s ninth studio and first dual-disc album, “The Living Infinite”, sold around 7,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 60. The effort also landed at No. 11 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 2 on the Hard Music chart. “The Living Infinite” entered the iTunes Metal Top Albums chart at No. 1 and was the No. 1 most added album on the CMJ radio chart.

“The Living Infinite” was produced by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) and boasts artwork by MNEMIC‘s Mircea Gabriel Eftemie. The CD features Justin Sullivan — lead singer of the English band NEW MODEL ARMY — as a guest vocalist on the track “The Windswept Mercy” and also marks the recording debut of longtime SOILWORK touring guitarist David Andersson (also of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA).

DrugMetal.ru conducted an interview with reformed industrial metal pioneers GODFLESH prior to their August 24 concert at Moscow Hall in Moscow, Russia. You can now watch the chat below.

GODFLESH will release its first new recording in over 12 years through Decibel magazine’s Flexi Series in October. A cover of the track “F.O.D. (Fuck of Death)” by legendary death thrashers SLAUGHTER (Canada) will be included in the subscriber version of the magazine’s November issue (streeting October 5).

You can now stream the track at this location.

In a recent interview with the French radio station Le 106, GODFLESH‘s Justin Broadrick stated about the band’s forthcoming album — which is tentatively titled “A World Lit Only By Fire” and due in May 2014 — “It will be [musically] similar to the first two or three [GODFLESH albums]. I just think, like we’re playing these shows, we feel very pure about we’re doing and honoring the initial intentions with what we originally set out to do. Which, I think, like most bands and musicians and all the rest of it, by the time you get on to your fourth album, it’s somewhat of a dilution going on to what you initially tried to achieve. It will definitely sound aggressive and it probably won’t sound like any of the other records we’ve made, but it will have the minimalism of the first few records.”

Added GODFLESH bassist G.C. Green: “It won’t sound like the first two record; it will be more the spirit… When you make records over the years, you change as people, you change as musicians, you progress, you develop and you take other styles on, but I think, having had a break from it and come back to it, it seems that we’ve gone straight back into what the essence of it was originally, and that’s why it feels good.”

Continued Justin: “It’s getting straight back to the core of what this is all about. And I think having a break from it has probably even more inspired… It’s like refocusing and obviously, we’re somewhat older and wiser. It’s gonna be a really interesting record. It’s extremely minimal and very, very brutal — a fairly unforgiving record, really, I think.”

GODFLESH‘s seminal debut full-length album, 1989’s “Streetcleaner”, was remastered and reissued in a deluxe digipak in Europe on June 21, 2010 and in North America on August 10, 2010 via Earache Records.

“Streetcleaner” was GODFLESH‘s second release, proving to be one of the band’s finest and most recognized albums and helping them to become one of the most influential industrial bands ever. Now “Streetcleaner” was brought up to date as a special expanded version, with all tracks remastered by GODFLESH founding member Justin Broadrick. The album also includes a bonus disc featuring 12 previously unreleased live tracks, alternate mixes and demos, and comes housed in a deluxe multi-panel digipak with detailed liner notes.

METALLICA sat down for an interview and performed two songs — “For Whom The Bell Tolls” and “Master Of Puppets” — on Comedy Central‘s “The Colbert Report” on Tuesday (September 24). Check out video footage of their appearance below.

METALLICA is on the promotional trail for its new 3D movie, “Metallica Through The Never”, which opens this Friday (September 27) on IMAX screens before expanding to more theaters on October 4.

The Pulse Of Radio asked METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo — currently in his 10th year with the group — if he ever thought when he joined the band that he would end up being one of the stars and executive producers of a major motion picture. “Um, no, I never thought that,” he said. “Welcome to the world of METALLICA, you know. It’s an interesting journey. I mean, you jump into creative situations that you would never imagine, and it’s hard work. I mean, everything that we do is very exciting, but at the same time, it’s always a challenge.”

Prior to Tuesday’s appearance on “Colbert”, METALLICA played a gig on Saturday night (September 21) at the famed Apollo Theater in New York City.

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was asked by The Telegraph what the release of “Through The Never” — which combines concert footage with a fictional storyline that borders on the surreal — meant to the band’s careers.

The singer/guitarist replied, “What does it mean for our careers? We don’t care. We’ve never really cared, but at this point we really don’t. We’re artists, and we’re driving this train — we can drive it straight into the wall if we want to.”

With the movie getting mixed reviews, drummer Lars Ulrich said, “So far, everybody’s got a different opinion about it, which is great, because if there’s anything we love in this band, it’s ambiguity. We’re not trying to force some next-level message down your throat. Without sounding too artsy, the best art is handed to you to do with what you want.”

The film stars Dane DeHaan as a member of METALLICA‘s road crew who is sent on a mysterious mission while the band performs at a sold-out arena and events outside grow more bizarre.

METALLICA reportedly spent $20 million of its own money to make the movie.

The soundtrack, which features a number of METALLICA classics performed live in the movie, will be out on Tuesday. The two-disc CD will come out on METALLICA’s own label, Blackened Recordings, also in digital and vinyl formats.

On August 25, The Mighty Z of Capital Chaos TV conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Cristiano Trionfera of Italian symphonic death metallers FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is performance footage of the San Francisco concert.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE‘s new album, “Labyrinth”, was released on August 16 in Europe and August 20 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed and mastered by Stefano “Saul” Morabito. The cover artwork was once again created by Colin Marks, who was also responsible for several neoclassical pieces of art in the massive inlay.

Comments FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE‘s Francesco Paoli: “‘Labyrinth’ is THE album for FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE. It’s the perfect combination of all our strong points with the best production we’ve ever had. It’s definitely the most FLESHGOD thing we’ve ever thought with the most FLESHGOD riffs, lyrics, melodies, drumparts, solos, etc. We went deep inside the core of this music, we broke it, and we finally unleashed these eleven songs.”

Added Tommaso Riccardi: “The concept of this album is based on the myth of the Labyrinth of Knossos and every character related to it. We focused on the philological aspect in order to represent all the elements of the classic world and, through a manic and meticolous research, we managed to create a metaphor with our times, as the maze can be associated with the endless search for what we really are. We’re sure you will be stunned by this as much as we are.”

UpVenue.com conducted an interview with drummer Arejay Hale and guitarist Joe Hottinger of Pennsylvanian rockers HALESTORM on August 10 at the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

Photos of HALESTORM‘s performance at Heavy MTL are available at this location.

HALESTORM has issued an official music video for the song “Here’s To Us”, the latest single off the band’s 2012 sophomore album, “The Strange Case Of…” Singer Lzzy Hale told Rolling Stone, “We wrote this song literally as our personal anthem. We’ve been through a lot together as a band, and we’ve learned to celebrate the low times as well as the highs. It’s about toughin’ out and respecting the journey for us, and that’s how we have kept it together as a foursome for 10 years! Here’s to us!”

The band recently recorded an alternate version of the track featuring guest appearances from Slash, SHINEDOWN‘s Brent Smith, ALTER BRIDGE‘s Myles Kennedy, DEVICE‘s David Draiman and others. Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that that version of the song was all about unity in the rock scene. “Everyone always thinks everybody’s in competition,” she said. “‘Oh, you know, we’re in competition for the charts!’ We’re in competition like, ‘Did you have a better set than me? Are you a better player?’ And it was important for all of us to show that none of that matters. We’re all in this together.”

“Here’s To Us” was previously covered on a February 2012 episode of the hit television show “Glee”.

The song is the fourth single from “The Strange Case Of…” , following “Love Bites (So Do I)” , “I Miss The Misery” and “Freak Like Me”. HALESTORM won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in February for the chart-topping “Love Bites (So Do I)” .

The band heads to Japan this week for two shows there before returning to the U.S. and starting a new round of late summer/early fall tour dates on August 23 in Palmer, Alaska.
