TOOL has released a statement to RollingStone.com explaining how a misunderstanding between the band’s guitarist and a fan led to speculation that the group had completed its new studio album.

“Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland TOOL concert, joked that the band’s new album was not only finished but coming out the next day,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”

Jones posted a message on his Twitter profile stating, “FYI, ‘The record’s done and it’s coming out tomorrow’ is what I said yesterday, followed by ‘just kidding. . . ‘”

TOOL kicked off its spring tour at Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Washington on Tuesday (March 4) with a two-hour collection of fan favorites but not a single new tune in sight. According to RollingStone.com, the Los Angeles band opened its set with “Hooker With A Penis” and blasted through hits like “Vicarious”, “Schism” and “Jambi” before ending with the triple knockout of “Forty-Six & 2”, “Ænema” and “Stinkfist”.

The instrumental members of TOOL have acknowledged working on new music for a large portion of the past year, but have yet to give any sign that they are ready to hit “record.”

TOOL‘s last album, “10,000 Days”, came out in 2006. The band has toured a few times since then.

Keenan has kept himself busy with his Arizona wine-making business and his band PUSCIFER, along with doing some live work and a little new music with A PERFECT CIRCLE.

Knockout Live, the leader in global IPTV Networks announced today, via Knockout For A Cause, the assignment of popular guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal as the 2013-214 Chairperson.

The talented musician, known for his lead guitarist position with the mega group GUNS N’ ROSES, accepted the position as the 2013-14 Chairperson for the Rock2Live Music Series. The gifted performer is firmly dedicated to helping schools adapt the program this fall as the main Ambassador To The Cause.

Thal has been an advocate for the arts in schools and a well known supporter of school music programs. The performing artist and producer frequently volunteers his time to benefit schools between concerts and recordings.

The Knockout For A Cause Foundation provides schools across the country with a public service program against bullying, texting while driving and obesity. The foundation has been developing a streaming entertainment product to replace the candy bar drives in schools helping curve the use of unhealthy fundraising items that are traditionally used.

The program is made up of registered schools throughout the country, with approximately 1,000,000 students registered into the program. Many more schools are expected to enter the program this school year with expectations of approximately 20,000,000 students enrolled by the end of the 2013-14 school year.

Once all schools have returned to session from summer break, the Rock2Live PSA Music Series will announce the events and schedule for this year. The Foundation is dedicated to providing alternatives to raising badly needed funds while delivering vital messages to the students, schools and supporters.

Fate Control has started working on a new album, and the band has issued the following statement online:

“The first two songs already released as a demo have since further produced by Swedish sound smiths Dugout Productions. Daniel ‘Danne’ Bergstrand and Rickard ‘Rrong’ Sporrong are behind Fate Control’s mixing and mastering.

“Daniel Bergstrand is known throughout the international world of heavy metal for his work with bands like In Flames, Soilwork and Meshuggah. Fate Control thinks it’s absolutely insane to get the chance to work with such pros – it’s like Christmas and a birthday all rolled into one!

Chrome Division, which features Dimmu Borgir’s Shagrath, has issued the following announcement about lineup changes and working on the follow-up to latest album “3rd Round Knockout” (reviewed here):

“When a bottle of Jack is dry, out & empty, you have to replace it with fresh new ones in order for the party to keep on going!

“Mr. Burn Luna, our long time bass player, increased members of his family some time ago and wanted to shift focus in his life. All respect to our musical brother ever since the inception back in 2004. We wish him all the best. Luna will work with us from behind the curtains of doom, and contribute on the lyrical side of things in the future.

“Ricky Black left us a while ago due to personal issues. Thanks for all the good times. Keep those licks going.

“For a while we have been working heavily on the new album with our new permanent members.
Our new bass player Ogee has been filling out as session live-guitarist/bassist for a long time and is now onboard for the ride. The perfect successor and a natural choice to welcome into the ranks.

“On lead guitar we present to you the extremely talented Damage Karlsen of former Breed fame.
Shoes hard to fill, but he damn near broke the mold! Both guys are an inspiring addition to the song writing process and the new material smells like burnt rubber!

“Prepare for the new coming. Doomsday rock n` roll forever!”
