GENERATION KILL, the band featuring EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes, will release its sophomore album, “We’re All Gonna Die”, on November 15 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was produced by Chris “Zeuss” Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

Commented Dukes: “We called this album ‘We’re All Gonna Die’ because, for the most part, the lyrics are about the darker side of the existence of humans on this planet.

“The album as a whole is so diverse, drawing from our influences that we grew up on.

“We achieved our goal of creating something that we all are so proud of. I personally think this is the strongest vocal performance of my career, and as a band we can’t wait for the hard rock/metal world to hear this album.”

Added Zeuss: “This album is not an EXODUS clone. This is an album of music where five guys got together an explored our own roots of music, the records we grew up listening to and wrote songs paying homage to what we love.”

“We’re All Gonna Die” track listing:

01. Born To Serve
02. Prophets Of War
03. Self Destruction

In a brand new interview with Sick Drummer Magazine, legendary BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward spoke about his current and upcoming recording projects. “I think the soonest [people will hear me on a new record] is probably on an album we are trying to finish right now. We’re in the final mix and some of the tracks are mastered. It’s an album called ‘Accountable Beasts’ and I’ve been working on and off with it for about five years. I play seven or eight of the drum tracks on it, have put a lot of really hard work into it and I wrote most of the material. I am quite pleased with the amount of work I’ve put into the album to date and I’m hoping it will come out at some point in the near future. I can’t say definitely, but I can say that we are working on the final mix and I kind of have a goal behind that, which is let’s get this thing finished and mixed as soon as possible. We are working on that right now, in fact this very day, to go into the studio and so on and so forth. Setting up our dates, studying my mix sheets, and working out final overdubs if any need to be done. We have some of the material which is already what I like to call ‘master-mixed,’ it’s board mixed and we don’t need to touch it, it just goes to mastering. There’s nine songs on the record, I believe, so that would be the first time you’d get to hear me drumming again, at least at this point. We have other projects that are going on as well, but it’s a bit too early to tell yet.”

Asked if he also wrote most of guitar parts for the album, Ward said: “Yes. Well, I don’t play guitar but what allows me to be able to work with guitar is that I have an incredible guitar player. He’s so open-minded that when I take my keyboard notes to him, I’ll just play a little bit of the melodies and such. I love working with melodies and I can work out a lot of the different parts, so when I do that my lead guitar player is extremely amicable. We put our egos outside the door and it’s like… OK! let me see what we can achieve here. Let me see if I can produce these things you’re trying to get at. It’s a very good working arrangement and he sounds absolutely great on the record, he’s fuckin’ rock and rolling! I mean, it’s really good! I obviously like it and I hope everybody else will, but it’s definitely a good piece of work.”

Ward claimed that he sat out the current BLACK SABBATH reunion because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn’t physically up to the task.

Ward was on board for the reunion when it was first announced in November 2011, but backed out soon after.

SABBATH has used Ozzy‘s regular touring drummer Tommy Clufetos since then for live work. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE‘s Brad Wilk laid down the drum tracks on SABBATH‘s new album, “13”, which came out June 11.

The classic lineup of U.K. death metallers CANCERJohn Walker (guitar, vocals), Carl Stokes, Ian Buchanan (bass) and Barry Savage (lead guitar) — will reform to promote their first three albums which are being re-released by Cyclone Empire Records later this year. The band plans to make a number of festival appearances during which they will play songs from these first three albums only.

CANCER in 2005 released a “comeback” studio album, entitled “Spirit In Flames”, on the Copro label. The group’s first full-length studio album (fifth overall) since 1995’s “Black Faith” was recorded over a three-week period at Philia studios in Henley on Thames, England. An EP, entitled “Corporation$”, preceded the “Spirit In Flames” CD and was also released through Copro. Included on the effort was the group’s cover version of the CELTIC FROST classic “Dethroned Emperor”.

CANCER‘s most recent lineup included Stokes, Walker, bassist Adam Richardson, and guitarist Dave Leitch (PULVERISED). Leitch replaced Rob Engvikson in 2004 after Rob left the group to focus on his long-running ASATRU project.

CANCER split up in 2006 “due to the lack of comitment to the band from John Walker,” according to a statement released at the time by Carl Stokes.

’80s hard rock queen Lita Ford has recorded a new Christmas single with her former THE RUNAWAYS bandmate Cherie Currie.

Speaking to Mike of at a recent tour stop in Chicago (see video below), Lita explained how the collaboration came about. “My old drummer called me, Rodger Carter, and he says: ‘Lita, let’s record a Christmas song,'” she began. “He’s got his own studio; it’s called the Doghouse. It’s in Encino, California… Reseda. And it’s a really nice studio. He said, ‘Come over and let’s record a Christmas single.’ So I thought, ‘OK. What do you wanna do? ‘Jingle Bells’?’ And he said, ‘No. Let’s write something new.’ And I thought, ‘OK.’ So I got out a pen and paper, and I thought, ‘Let’s rock this Christmas down.’ So we started writing this song called ‘Rock This Christmas Down’. And this year, I got in touch with Cherie Currie, who I haven’t spoke to in quite a long, long time, who was the lead singer for THE RUNAWAYS. And so it just so happened to be that she was on the phone just shortly after we had finished talking about recording this song. I said, ‘Cherie, why don’t you sing it with me?’ So she flew in from this area, which she just played, and came straight from the airport to the studio, cut the vocal track, and we have a Christmas single with me and Cherie singing lead vocals.”

THE RUNAWAYS, which broke up in 1979, on May 25 in Sydney, Australia can be seen below.

In 2010, the movie “The Runaways” was released starring Kristen Stewart of “Twilight” fame as singer Joan Jett. The band formed in 1975, with Ford on lead guitar. She was 16 at the time.

“The Runaways” was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who is best known for directing music videos by such artists as David Bowie, Marilyn Manson and Sheryl Crow.

In a 2012 interview with Metalshrine, Lita stated about the possibility of a RUNAWAYS reunion: “Cherie‘s all ready to do a RUNAWAYS reunion and I would love it and I think we should start writing songs and I think it would be great. I’m not sure what Joan [Jett] is doing right now. I don’t know if she’s in the studio or if she’s touring, I’m not sure. I was in contact with her for a while and then all of a sudden she just disappeared. She’s probably on tour, but I don’t know and it really needs to come from Joan. I talk to Cherie all the time. I talk to Vicki [Blue; now known as Victory Tischler-Blue] all the time and I’m still good friends with Jackie [Fox], but we can’t do it without Joan, you know. She’s got to be a part of it and she’s gotta want to be a part of it.”

She added in a separate interview in December 2012: “I can’t get a yes or no out of Joan, so I’ve kind of thrown in the towel. It’s now or never. I would love it, but for some reason — I don’t know why — it’s Joan‘s camp [that’s holding it up]. The ball is in her camp. It’s up to them.”

Lita last year filmed a video for the song “Mother” in Joshua Tree, California. Directing the clip was Ford‘s former THE RUNAWAYS bandmate Victory Tischler-Blue, whose film “Edgeplay” was based on her tenure in the 1970s all-girl teenage rock act.

Lita Ford will release a new live album, “The Bitch Is Back… Live”, on October 28 via SPV/Steamhammer.

Eric Bryan, known for his bass and vocal work with California’s NECROSCOPE and ABSTRACT PRAYER, and perhaps more famously as the “metal fan/bass player with the cool posters and figurines” in the Sam Dunn documentary film “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey”, has joined the ranks of ANGER AS ART in time for the band’s U.S. tour dates through 2013 and 2014.

Says ANGER AS ART founding member Steve Gaines: “We have known Eric since ANGER AS ART supported OVERKILL back in 2005. He gave a very in-depth critique of our debut album, one that let me know he listened closely. We did radio and print interviews with him… I joined his band onstage… Only later did I realize he was the same guy from the movie. Just a good guy, and an old soul. When we found our bassist position open, he came in and nailed it.”

Eric‘s first show with ANGER AS ART took place on August 9 in Los Angeles, Caliornia. Video footage from that night can be seen below.

ANGER OF ART‘s fourth album, “Hubris Inc.”, was released on February 5 via Old School Metal Records. According to Gaines, the follow-up to 2009’s “Disfigure” offers the kind of vicious, memorably penned thrash/speed metal that fans have come to expect without simply retracing the steps taken on previous albums.

“Hubris Inc.” includes several guest appearances: “Rage And Retribution” features Betsy Bitch on vocals, Jim Durkin (DARK ANGEL) on lead guitar and Timothy Gaines (STRYPER) on bass; Steve Nelson (EVIL DEAD) contributes backing vocals on “The Evil You Create”; and “Speed Kills” features Mark Caro (ABATTOIR) on lead guitar. The latter track was actually written for ABATTOIR back in 1984 and is performed by all ABATTOIR members. It’s the last opportunity to ever hear a new ABATTOIR song.
