According to IRON MAIDEN‘s recording engineer Tony Newton, the band’s two Brazilian concerts in São Paulo (September 20) and Rock In Rio festival (September 22) will be professionally recorded. It is not presently clear if the resulting footage will be made available commercially.

In a recent interview with the Turkish web site Hafifmuzik.org, MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson revealed that there will be no new studio album from the band in 2014. He did, however, assure fans that MAIDEN has plans to release a new CD, although most likely not before 2015.

IRON MAIDEN last month landed at position No. 1 on Billboard.com‘s “Hot Tours” list of top-grossing tours with $8.5 million in ticket sales from six performances on their summer tour of Europe. The shows were attended by a total of 121,280 fans, including a two-night, sold-out stand on August 3-4 at the O2 Arena in Lonon, England, where the band played to 27,000 fans. With totals added from this summer’s Europe dates, overall ticket sales from the tour top $42 million from 45 reported concerts.

MAIDEN‘s 15th studio CD, 2010’s “The Final Frontier”, featured 10 tracks that had an average running time of seven minutes and 40 seconds, with the shortest song, “The Alchemist”, clocking in at four minutes and 29 seconds, and the longest, “When The Wild Wind Blows”, lasting ten minutes and 59 seconds.

“The Final Frontier” sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 4.

IRON MAIDEN‘s previous album, 2006’s “A Matter Of Life And Death”, opened with 56,000 units to land at No. 9. This was a notable increase from the 40,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, 2003’s “Dance of Death” (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and that of “Brave New World”, which moved 38,000 copies in June 2000 to land at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 chart.

“The Final Frontier” was IRON MAIDEN‘s fourth U.K. No. 1 album. The band previously topped the chart in 1982 with “The Number of the Beast”, in 1988 with “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” and in 1992 with “Fear of the Dark”.

While She Sleeps: Flying the flag for British metal

Last night (Wednesday August 28), While She Sleeps rocked up to a tiny Vans store on Camden High Street to officially launch the countdown to Vans Warped Tour UK 2013. The result? Fucking bedlam. Here’s what happened…

6.30pm

There’s a massive gaggle of eager fans camped outside the Vans shop along Camden High Street. While She Sleeps are due on in about 15 minutes or so. Hammer is eating a £3 Chinese from the Bang Bang Chicken Man down the round. Everything is going swell.

www.derekbremner.com

6.40pm

We’re let into the store and everyone immediately crowds around the tiny stage wedged into the far corner of the shop. Things are about to get very, very messy.

6.50pm

The fans have flooded the shop floor (and there’s still a fuck-ton left peering through doorways and windows from outside), but there’s not any sign of the band yet. Tensions are rising. Luckily, someone’s passing While She Sleeps cupcakes around. Cupcakes are metal.

6.52pm

Too many cupcakes. Feeling sick.

7.00pm

While She Sleeps run through the crowd, grab their instruments and smash into Death Toll. Bedlam ensues. Loz is already in the crowd. The crowd are on the stage. Oh god everything’s everywhere.

7.05pm

“This is a celebration of life and death!” screams Loz as they plough into a gruelling Dead Behind The Eyes. Loz is back on stage. Mat’s in the crowd. Everyone’s going absolutely nuts. No one seems to be trying to pocket any hoodies either, which is always nice.

7.10pm

This Is The Six draws a monstrously huge reaction from everyone involved – including the people still stranded outside, who Loz happily acknowledges and demands just as much action from.

7.12pm

Mat is on top of the shop.

7.13pm

People are now circle-pitting around Mat.

7.14pm

People are now circle-pitting in the street.

7.17pm

Mat is now also outside and getting carried down the high street like a messiah with a guitar.

7.21pm

“This is the title track from our debut,” snarls Loz. “It’s called This Is The Six.” Cue singalongs and “WOOOOOOAH”s so big they can probably hear them at the Vans store in Oxford Circus. This is madness. Absolute madness. There’s clothes and cupcake and Relentless energy drink everywhere.

7.25pm

Loz is back outside again. We think Mat’s inside. We’re not sure. Fuck knows what’s going on.

7.30pm

An anthemic Seven Hills brings things to a maddening close. There’s traffic being stopped in the street outside. This is ridiculous.

7.34pm

Within seconds of Sleeps’ set finishing, the band head straight outside to meet all the people that weren’t lucky enough to get in. Cue an hour or so of photos getting taken, fives getting highed and hugs being delivered. What. A. Gig.

SAY CHEEEEEEEEEESE!

8.00pm

We are fucking knackered. Can we do this every week?

Last week, we revealed some pretty sad bits from the just-released issue of Guitar World featuring a big feature on the life and death of Jeff Hannmean, which includes some revealing quotes from Hannmenan's band members in Slayer, and his wife, namely that Tom Araya doesn't know if the band can continue without Hannmean, but Kerry …

New York City native, surrealist, and metal artist Vincent Castiglia recently announced his upcoming solo art exhibition entitled “Resurrection,” taking place from October 4th – 31st at Sacred Gallery NYC (located at 424 Broadway 2nd Floor between Canal and Howard, NYC). Vincent handled the artwork for Triptykon’s “Eparistera Daimones.” The gallery will host an opening reception on October 4th from 8-11pm. “Resurrection” will include collection of Vincent’s paintings, which are created exclusively in his own human blood.

In the privacy of his studio, Vincent practices a kind of modern-day phlebotomy, siphoning the life force which he believes contains his own psychic energy, while giving it an outlet and form. In doing so, he dissolves the barrier between artist and art in a most literal and immediate sense. This retrospective encompasses all of Vincent’s available work from the beginning of his career and aims to examine the congruency of life and death.

Vincent recently took the time to explain his two favorite pieces in the exhibition, “Feeding” and “Stings of the Lash,” which are displayed below.

“Feeding” depicts the archetypal mother of humanity, a fleeting organism which struggles to nurture itself in spite of the self-evident frailties that are innately threaded into its existence – namely sickness and death. Her transience burdens her more deeply to propagate. Yet hope runs through the composition; among the ruins of a physical shell, the background envelops the figures, like a promise, that like the child, they are being held together by something vaster

“Stings of the Lash” marks significant events in my life, people, places and things – the ‘stings’ of my own ‘lashes’. This painting also deals with the unique nature of the human will. There is a “consciousness between impulses”, the space between actions. The figure stands between two neurons attempting to communicate; only the message is diffused in the space between them by this willful phenomenon. Behind him are three dimensions, which the figure penetrates, physically as well as allegorically, the terrestrial, the celestial, and beyond this the collective unconscious.

Main songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Rasmus of Sweden’s New Keepers Of The Water Towers has issued the following update regarding the long-awaited third album from the celebrated stoner rock outfit:

“For the past year and a half we have been working in and out of the studio on this, our third, album. It’s been a long process of developing and enriching our music with more genre defying sounds, dark lyrics about life and death, a lot of experimenting with musical directions and tinkering with richer harmonic arrangements. To put it bluntly, we’ve been recording an epic. None of us have ever put this much effort and emotion into a piece of music so it means a lot to us and now that we are in the final steps of recording we feel very proud of what we have accomplished and I don’t think there is any doubt in our minds that we have succeeded in creating the album we set out to record.”

Song titles to be featured on the upcoming album include “Visions of Death,” “Cosmic Child,” “He Who Greets With Fire” and “The Great Leveler.” A spring 2013 release through Listenable Records has been scheduled for the album. Video footage of the band performing “Rise of the Lizard King” at Roskilde Festival 2010 has been posted at this location.

The official press release from Pitch Black Records reads:

“We are pleased to welcome Danish female-fronted melodic death metal outfit lllnath into our roster of artists with the band’s third release, ‘Third Act in the Theatre of Madness’ scheduled for release on November 18th (21st in the UK) 2011.

The band toured extensively in Europe and has also played in various European festivals. The band’s third album (‘Third Act in the Theatre of Madness’) is the band’s most melodic yet at the same time extreme offering to date.

“The band has a completely new lineup comprised of original member Pete Falk on guitars (also handling the main songwriting tasks), the powerful voice of Mona Beck, the killer basslines of Kenneth Frandsen and session drummer Reno Killerich.
