Italy’s READY, SET, FALL! has inked a deal with Lifeforce Records. The band’s full-length debut, “Memento”, will be released in February 2014.

According to a press release, READY, SET, FALL! “combines Swedish melodic death with American metalcore and a strong preference for agile variability.

“Listening to ‘Memento’, you cannot avoid to think of SOILWORK, IN FLAMES, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE or ALL THAT REMAINS. This is exactly what READY, SET, FALL! want to achieve, without just copying those established acts. The quintet is driven by its internalization of modern-style metal, being played without any boundaries or restrictions.”

READY, SET, FALL! was formed in Genoa in 2010. Some of the members have roots within the pop-punk genre (WHERE EVERYTHING IS, THE LAST BANNED) while others paid their dues as part of metalcore and metal acts such as BLOOD, SWEAT AND NO TEARS, ASPASIA and LIVING CORPSE.

Due to “unforeseen circumstances,” NIGHTRAGE‘s former singer, Jimmie Strimell (ENDS WITH A BULLET, ex-DEAD BY APRIL, DEATHDESTRUCTION) was unable to rejoin the band for their September 20 concert in Gothenburg, Sweden. Handling lead vocals at the show was Ronnie Nyman from ALWAYS WAR. Also appearing with NIGHTRAGE founder/guitarist Marios Iliopoulos at the Gothenburg concert were drummer Marcus Rosell (ENDS WITH A BULLET, DORM PATROL) and guitarist Jesper Strömblad (THE RESISTANCE, CEREMONIAL OATH, ex-IN FLAMES).

Fan-filmed video footage of the September 20 performance can be seen below.

Vocalist Antony Hämäläinen left NIGHTRAGE in June in order “to explore other musical ventures.”

Iliopoulos recently revealed that he was preparing to begin the songwriting process for the band’s new album, which is expected in 2014. The group is also seeking a suitable label home for the upcoming CD following NIGHTRAGE‘s split with Lifeforce Records.

Due to scheduling conflicts, Hämäläinen was unable to perform with NIGHTRAGE at the Gothenburg Sound Festival on January 5 at Trädgårn in Gothenburg, Sweden. His replacement for this show was NIGHTRAGE‘s former frontman Tomas Lindberg from AT THE GATES.

Lindberg — who is also known for his work with THE CROWN and LOCK UP — appeared on NIGHTRAGE‘s first two albums (2003’s “Sweet Vengeance” and 2005’s “Descent Into Chaos”) before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007’s “A New Disease Is Born”.

NIGHTRAGE‘s fifth album, “Insidious”, was released in September 2011 via Lifeforce Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and Lindberg.

Scottish death/grind powerhouse MAN MUST DIE will will release its new album, “Peace Was Never An Option”, on October 28 in Europe and one day later in North America via Lifeforce Records. The CD features a guest appearance by Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, ex-SEPULTURA) on one song.

The track “On The Verge Of Collapse” can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

Comments the band: “This album is by far the angriest yet most diverse one we have done yet. It’s the next level for MAN MUST DIE. We couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out. It’s brutal beyond the word and yet more melodic and memorable than ever.

“With ‘Peace was Never An Option’, we really focused on the songwriting, which is really important in MAN MUST DIE‘s sound, [and] seems to be bypassed a lot in modern music.

“All the classic metal is all about the songs; this is what influences us, this is what we do.”

Formed in 2002 and originally born of the founding members’ desire to push their music to new levels of intensity and brutality, the band’s dedication to their craft has since manifested itself in a rich touring history, sharing stages with such acts as EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD and DECAPITATED.

MAN MUST DIE has released three full-length studio albums thus far: 2004’s “…Start Killing” (Retribute Records), “The Human Condition” (2007, Relapse Records) and “No Tolerance For Imperfection” (2009, Relapse Records). Their music manages to incorporate the heaviest elements of extreme metal whilst retaining an attuned sense of melody, confidently shifting from epic, uplifting passages to pure sickness. Augmented by a keen compositional flair and furious, socially aware vocals, MAN MUST DIE is a highly focused musical force.

“The Sonic Sign”, the new Olli-Pekka Lappalainen-directed video from Finnish melodic death metallers OMNIUM GATHERUM, can be seen below. The song comes off the band’s latest album, “Beyond”, which was released on February 25 in Europe and March 5 in North America via Lifeforce Records. The CD was recorded by Teemu Aalto and mixed and mastered once again by Dan Swanö. The artwork for the follow-up to 2011’s “New World Shadows” was created by Olli Lappalainen and can be seen below.

“Beyond” track listing:

01. Luoto
02. New Dynamic
03. In The Rim
04. Nightwalkers
05. Formidable
06. The Sonic Sign
07. Who Could Say
08. The Unknowing
09. Living In Me
10. White Palace

The special edition of “Beyond” contains the band’s brand new cover version of “Subdivisions” by RUSH. OMNIUM GATHERUM guitarist Markus Vanhala told Soundi magazine: “As pretty much everyone in the band is a fan of RUSH, we decided to take the bull by the horns and make or own bold ‘Omnification’ of ‘Subdivisions’. Besides, Metal Hammer wrote already at the time of our debut album that if OPETH are the PINK FLOYD of this scene, then OMNIUM are likely to turn into RUSH at the very least. It was time to pick up the gauntlet!”

Regarding the musical and lyrical direction of “Beyond”, Vanhala previously stated: “It’s now been approximately 10 years since our debut full-length album, ‘Spirits And August Light’, was released and the world was waiting. The latest 2011 album, ‘New World Shadows’, was a good breakthrough for us and lots of good things happened after that record, so, of course, we had some pressures to do a decent successor for that great record as the world was waiting again.

“Well, I think we managed on mastering that task and now we’re back again with the OMNIUM GATHERUM‘s sixth album called ‘Beyond’, the album that is really going beyond all limits of melodic death metal from the winter wonderland! The album follows the good known path of ‘New World Shadows’ and ‘The Redshift’, but adds a lot of new flavors and spices to the good ol’ melting pot to lift the band to a new heights. It’s our most melodic and versatile album so far, but at the same time, it still holds for example the most brutal death metal growls in our career yet as also some really tasteful clean vocals between the lines. I’m sure everyone who gives the album many spins can find something new with every turn, so this should be a album that hold up the sands of time and rewards the listeners who are digging deeper and searching something more than just a one hit wonders of the day!

“Lyrically told, ‘Beyond’ is about the culmination point of one’s existence. It is a coming-home story where the mysteries of duality are melted into oneness but without losing one single point of individuality along the arrival.

“As you can see from the cover, there’s also a strong sense of sea on the album, as we’re the sons of the sea from Kotka!”

OMNIUM GATHERUM recently announced the addition of bassist Erkki Silvennoinen to the group’s ranks.

“New World Shadows” entered the official chart in Finland at position No. 5. This marked the highest chart entry in the group’s history, having previously landed at No. 24 with 2008’s “The Redshift” and No. 31 with 2007’s “Stuck Here On Snakes Way”.
