Beaten To Death: suspend all rational thought

Grindcore fans, and fans of mentalist heavy metal in general, rejoice, because Norway’s nirvana-inducing noise experts, Beaten To Death have wisely chosen Metal Hammer as exclusive hosts to stream their forthcoming album, Dødsfest! – out on October 4 via Mas-Kina Recordings – in full.

Fronted by She Said Destroy’s Anders ‘Ugmod’ Bakke, this is ADD-enhanced grindcore running headlong through the looking glass, and yet also strangely accessible. If you’re a fan of Rolo Tomassi, The Locust, Brutal Truth, moshing like a maniac or the sensation of being eaten alive by seriously tripping, exhibitionist lions, this album is going to blow your mind. Check it out below!

St. Louis act In The Midst of Lions has posted the following announcement online about deciding to call it a day:

“Hello everyone! We are so so sorry for how long it has taken us to update you all on the situation with the band.

“After our last tour in November of 2011 ended we came home with intentions of resting up and heading back out on the road on the ‘Kingdom Days’ tour in April of 2012. Unfortunately, the long break from tour along with some other opportunities for a couple of the band members meant that 2 of our members were leaving the band. This caused us to cancel our April tour for the remaining members to decide what our next step was.

“After a few months of no decisions and lack of motivation to catch 2 new members up to speed we decided to call it quits and see where the Lord would take us in our own lives individually.

“We are truly sorry that we took so long I update you all. If we have any farewell tour shows or even a tour in the future we will update you all immediately.

“God bless you all and thank you for the support through the years! We truly appreciate all your support!”

You can still check out the band’s music over at the In The Midst of Lions Facebook profile here.

Facedown Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Leaders for the release of a new album:

“We are proud to announce that we have signed Leaders to Facedown Records. Before going through a line-up and name change in 2011, Leaders shared the stage with Flyleaf, Blindside, and Brian ‘Head’ Welch as ALLORNOTHING.

“Now, Leaders are storming onto the hardcore and metal scenes with their powerful debut album Now We Are Free. Comprised of 10 tracks engineered by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios (As Blood Runs Black, All Shall Perish, In the Midst of Lions), Now We Are Free blends metal and hardcore influences seamlessly and is a must have album for fans of Hatebreed and Living Sacrifice.

“Leaders will be taking their live show on the road and will be on tour for all of 2012. The band describes their live shows as ‘powerful, intimate, and real. With enough character and groove to the rhythm that it makes you want to move.’ Now, they look forward to touring with a solid line-up and new music.”

Leaders will release “Now We Are Free,” on March 27th, 2012 and will be supporting it at Facedown Fest 2012.
