Blaze‘s “Soundtracks Of My Life” tour will see him play 33 gigs in 40 days in 15 countries, celebrating Bayley‘s 30 years in the industry.

Bayley released a career-spanning double-disc collection, “Soundtracks Of My Life”, on October 31, 2013.

Metal Mind Productions recently released the two-CD version of Blaze Bayley‘s “Alive In Poland” (previously available only as part of the limited-edition “Alive In Poland” DVD) in Europe and North America.

“Alive In Poland” was recorded in Poland in April 2007 during the 21st edition of Metalmania festival in Katowice, Poland. It features a fantastic, over-one-and-a-half-hour show during which Blaze presented the best tracks from his discography, as well as select tracks from IRON MAIDEN (“Man On The Edge”, “Futureal”).

Bayley‘s latest studio album, “The King Of Metal”, was released in March 2012. The CD was recorded at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy.

The 50-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left in 1994 to replace Bruce Dickinson as the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN.

Riff-Mag.com conducted an interview with vocalist Derrick Green of Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA before the band’s February 6 concert at O2 Academy Islington in London, England. You can now watch the chat below.

SEPULTURA‘s new album, “The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart”, sold around 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD came out on October 29, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Although it was inspired by Fritz Lang‘s classic 1927 movie “Metropolis”, “The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart” is not a concept album or a soundtrack like its precedessors “Dante XXI” (based on “The Divine Comedy”) and “A-Lex” (based on “A Clockwork Orange”).

“The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart” was tracked over a 40-day period at producer Ross Robinson‘s (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT) studio in Venice, California and was mixed and mastered by co-producer Steve Evetts, who previously worked with SEPULTURA on the “Nation” (2001), “Revolusongs” (2002) and “Roorback” (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past.

In a 2013 interview with Live-Metal.net, SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green stated about the new album title: “We always have the simple one-word titles or very basic. And with this we knew what we wanted to do. We wanted to maybe make people think a little bit.

“I think we have become lobotomized, including myself, because I’m not putting myself outside of anything. I think a lot of times we live in a time where people are thinking actions or creating ideas — doing something in their head but going right to their hands. And they’re missing the essential part, the heart and the compassion, that’s behind what you are doing. And (the title) came from a movie called ‘Metropolis’ (1927) by a director called Fritz Lang, and it’s a silent movie. And it’s actually the first thing you see in the movie. And the meaning behind it is just that: It’s impossible to be human without having the heart dictate what you’re doing and why you’re doing certain things.

“So I believe this album has that passion and drive and love for music.

“So many things I’ve been hearing are just about trying to be perfect, with the digital age and trying to make everything sound perfect. Like on albums and things like that, it doesn’t even sound real. It doesn’t sound human anymore. So this is something going back to really trying not to be perfect. We’re trying to pull out that love and desire and just grabbing that moment, placing it on an album and recording it, and not being worried about those other things.”

On September 19, Pit Freaks conducted an interview with vocalist Ville Valo of Finnish “love” metallers HIM in Houston, Texas. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

HIM‘s latest album, “Tears On Tape”, sold 20,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 15 on The Billboard 200 chart.

HIM‘s previous CD, 2010′s “Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice”, opened with 26,000 units to land at No. 25.

The band’s 2007 effort, “Venus Doom”, registered a first-week tally of 38,000 to enter the chart at No. 12.

“Tears On Tape” was released on April 30 via Razor & Tie in North America and on April 29 through DoubleCross (Cooking Vinyl‘s specialist rock imprint) in the U.K. and Ireland. A video recap of the September 12 VIP premier event for DEF LEPPARD‘s “VIVA! Hysteria” at Cineworld in London, England, including fan reactions from the screening, can be seen below.

DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Las Vegas extravaganza will hit the silver screen for two nights in October. NCM Fathom Events together with AEG Live and Network Live are bringing DEF LEPPARD “Viva! Hysteria” concert to over 250 theaters across the country with a full front-to-back performance of 1987′s multi-platinum “Hysteria” album — along with a healthy dose of the band’s greatest hits. Tickets for the screenings are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, singer Joe Elliott shed some light DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Vegas residency at the 4,000-capacity Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, explaining, “We’ve been asked for many years if we’d ever play an album in its entirety, and the answer was always no because we’d be out promoting a new album. Then in March and April 2013 when we had no new music to promote, we had a chance to revisit arguably our most important album. It was an easy decision to make.”

He went on to say that the stigma involved in rock musicians playing “Sin City” has long passed: “As for Vegas, it’s no longer perceived as the place crooners go to die! Artists like MÖTLEY CRÜE, ELTON JOHN, GUNS N’ ROSES and CHEAP TRICK have recently done residencies and rock n’ roll has definitely moved in! So, there was no better place for us to take the show. It was a fantastic experience for us and for our fans.”

Joe Elliott told The Pulse Of Radio that the band’s humble beginnings back in England never even hinted at where they’d be today. “35 years after starting out in a little school in Sheffield, and then the next thing we’re doing a residency in Vegas,” he said. “It was never on the agenda back then, y’know? But being in a band more than seven or eight years wasn’t either. So, at this moment in time you’re just kinda making things up as you go along, because, things just keep appearing for us. Like; ‘Hey — you guys fancy doing this?’ ‘Well, that’s something we’ve never done.’ And as soon as we can say that out loud, it’s appealing for us to do it, ”cause it gets you off the treadmill.”

The theatrical showings will be followed by a companion DVD, Blu-ray and live album that Elliott tells Billboard.com will chronicle “the whole shebang” — not only the “Hysteria” set but all of the other songs DEF LEPPARD played over the two nights the show was filmed.

“VIVA! Hysteria – Live at the Joint, Las Vegas” will be made available on CD, Blu-ray disc, DVD Video, and digital download in October at your favorite music retailer.

On September 10, Daniel Cairns of Metal Hammer magazine conducted an interview with Karl Sanders of South Carolina-based extreme technical death metallers NILE prior to the band’s concert at The Garage in London, England. You can now watch the chat below.

NILE‘s recent U.S. tour consisted of 28 shows supported by three of the best local bands in every market. NILE played two massive sets with music spanning their prolific, twenty-year career.

NILE‘s seventh full-length album, “At The Gate Of Sethu”, sold 3,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 131 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

In a recent interview with Alarm magazine, Sanders stated about the songwriting process for “At The Gate Of Sethu”: “Every day, after I’d gotten warmed up with a bunch of technique and stuff, I’d sit with the guitar and the lyrics sheet and just start riffing. I’d just play a gazillion riffs. The next day, I’d sit down and sift through them. I had so many riffs for this fucking album. It was insane. You could make a couple of albums out of all of the riffs that got thrown out.”

He continued: “About halfway through the songwriting process, George Kollias, our drummer, sent me an e-mail. He said, ‘Karl, what the fuck are you doing? All these fucking insane time signatures and tempo changes and fucking weird, fucking odd-time riffs. Dude, please! You’re killing me! Will you please just write something like old NILE? Something simple and classic, because you’re driving me crazy with all of this shit.’ So I thought about it for a while, and I was like, ‘There’s some reality to what he said.’”
