DrugMetal.ru has uploaded a six-minute video report on MADBALL‘s August 14 concert at Plan B in Moscow, Russia. Check it out below.

MADBALL‘s latest EP, “Rebellion”, was released digitally last year via The BNB Label, a brand extension of Cricien‘s Black N Blue Productions group. The six-song effort contains four new tracks and newly recorded versions of two cuts from the band’s legendary 1989 seven-inch single, “Ball Of Destruction”. The CD was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersberg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL).

“Rebellion” marked the first MADBALL recording with former UNEARTH and THE RED CHORD member Mike Justian, who has served as MADBALL‘s touring drummer for the past couple of years.

While Amit and Merl were nursing their sunburn and sore heads, Metal Hammer Podcast host Steve Hill braved another round of Hevy 2012. Here’s what he saw….

After a night of partying hard, I feel rough on Sunday morning and it looks like I’m not the only one. Today some of punk rock’s old school attempt to show the youngsters a thing or two and, after Attack! Vipers have kicked the hangover out of me, I’m treated to 7 Seconds, Ignite, Madball and a day-stealing set from H20 playing a pre-MTV style of punk rock all with passion and fury on one stage.

While the other stage deals with the savage sounds of the impressive Black Shapes, Rise and Fall‘s Black Breath/Trap Them style grizzled noise, the bafflingly insane DEP-meets-One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest Chariot and headliners Converge, even they are not immune from the curse of the PA. Sounding paper thin for half their set and then, utterly disrespectfully, having The Descendants sound checking right next to them as they play. By the end it gets sorted out and No Heroes and Concubine sound as much of a head fuck live as they do on record.

As bad a taste as Descendants leave for their antics whilst Converge were on there is no arguing with the strength of their year zero melodic punk and they close the festival in fine style, barely pausing for breath in the process.

It’s a fine end to a fine weekend, which has had its fair share of problems but succeeds on the strength of its diverse and committed line up. Hopefully, it’ll be back next year and those creases can be ironed out. Get a better sound system, basically. And somebody wake that sleepy tiger in the zoo up!

A number of rock and metal musicians have posted tributes online to Beastie Boys rapper, bassist and co-founder, Adam Yauch, aka “MCA.” Yauch passed away earlier today at the age of 47. The cause of death is presently unknown, though it suspected to be linked to his run in with cancer in 2009, for which he underwent surgery. Yauch was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame along with his other Beastie Boys bandmates and other acts including Guns N Roses and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, who dedicated their performance to absent Yauch.

Some of the hard rock tributes read as follows:

Slash: “Sad day. MCA was fucking awesome. RIP man. We’ll miss you very much.”

Anthrax: “RIP MCA. Cancer, you’re an asshole.

Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine: “Rest In Peace Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys. My condolences to his family and friends.”

Freddy Madball: “RIP to a hip hop legend and my favorite beastie boy….MCA”

Spineshank: “RIP MCA!!!!! Thanx for the awesome music!”

Bonded By Blood: “R.I.P. MCA! Our set tonight (in Dallas) goes out too you!”

Shadows Fall frontman Brian Fair: “RIP MCA of the Beastie Boys. My favorite show ever was seeing them at a small club in Boston on Check Your Head tour. Thanks for the music.”

Godflesh/Jesu/former Napalm Death guitarist, Justin Broadrick: “Very sad to hear of the passing of Adam Yauch / MCA.”

Sick Of It All: “Our hearts go out to MCA’s family and friends in their time of loss. We had the pleasure of doing a small tour with the Beastie Boys under their hardcore name Quazar. They were the most down to earth and fun guys. Thanks for all the great times and music and all your humanitarian work you’ve done. Rest In Peace Brother. A sad day indeed.”

Living Colour: “Cause You Can’t, You Won’t And You Don’t Stop, MCA Come And Rock The Sure Shot – RIP Adam Yauch!”
