Italy’s Soundsblog.it recently conducted an interview with BUTCHER BABIES. You can now watch the chat below.

BUTCHER BABIES‘ debut album, “Goliath”, sold around 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 107 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD came out on July 9, 2013 via Century Media Records.

The Los Angeles-based band — frontwomen Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd, guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Jason Klein and drummer Chris Warner — wrapped its tour with MARILYN MANSON in late February 2013 and went straight into the studio with producer Josh Wilbur (GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED).

In a 2013 interview with Metal Exiles, Heidi stated about BUTCHER BABIES being labeled a “shock rock” band: “People say that we are, but sometimes I do not see us that way. I think people are just shocked at a couple of girls acting the way that we do. I think that’s what’s mostly shocking. Besides Wendy O. Williams, I haven’t seen a female do anything shocking in music in a long time. This is really who we are, but with the blood, the theatrics and the horror; those are things that we love, it’s what we are about. It’s part of our character, it is who we are when we jump on stage, so it’s not for shock, it’s just how we feel.”

Regarding the lyrical inspiration for “Goliath”, Heidi said: “‘Goliath’ is something that we have held inside us for a long time. I have a green binder that I have all of my writing in, and I have had it since I was 12, so anything I have ever experienced in my life is in there and that’s where we pulled a lot of the material from. A lot of things on this record are things that most people go through and we just turned a negative into a positive.”

In an interview with CrypticRock.com, Shepherd stated about the musical direction of “Goliath”: “The album, as a whole, is very diverse. There is basically something for everybody. We all have different influences and everything is portrayed on this album. Jason [Klein, bass] loves death metal; Henry [Flury, guitar], in general, metal; I love nu-metal; and Carla loves classic metal. We all love every [kind of] metal but those are our favorite and those are where we came from. All our influences shine bright on this album. It’s definitely a coloration of everybody’s influences and everybody’s love. We’re all very proud of it in one way or another. There is something for everybody in it.”

Vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale and guitarist Joe Hottinger of Pennsylvanian rockers HALESTORM were interviewed on the latest episode of the “Talking Metal” podcast. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below. (Note: The HALESTORM interview begins around the 13-minute mark.)

HALESTORM will release its new EP, “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP”, on October 15 via Atlantic.

The EP marks the acclaimed hard rock band’s first new release since their stunning Grammy Awards triumph earlier this year, as well as the follow-up to 2011′s “ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP”. As with its predecessor, “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP” sees HALESTORM putting their distinctive brand on a strikingly eclectic collection of classic songs, including legendary tracks by JUDAS PRIEST, AC/DC, PAT BENATAR, FLEETWOOD MAC, MARILYN MANSON, and DAFT PUNK.

“Like our first ‘ReAniMate’ EP, the songs included here are a collection of both our favorite songs and songs to challenge ourselves,” said Lzzy Hale. We decided to go more ‘bare bones’ with this EP, meaning minimal production with live, gritty performances. We recorded this EP the week of the Grammys, so the excitement and debauchery you hear through your speakers is very real. We hope all our fans have as much fun with ‘ReAniMate: 2.0′ as we did!”

“ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP” track listing:

01. Dissident Aggressor (originally performed by JUDAS PRIEST)
02. Get Lucky (originally performed by DAFT PUNK)
03. Shoot To Thrill (originally performed by AC/DC)
04. Hell Is For Children (originally performed by PAT BENATAR)
05. Gold Dust Woman (originally performed by FLEETWOOD MAC)
06. 1996 (originally performed by MARILYN MANSON)

2011′s “ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP” contained covers of tracks from SKID ROW, LADY GAGA and GUNS N’ ROSES. Singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that recording other artists’ songs helps her own writing. “There’s just nothing like singing and playing and picking apart an already proven amazing song,” she said. “I think it helps you as a songwriter. I’ll write a song and be like, ‘Well, is that as good as HEART‘s ‘All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You’, and I’ll have to be like, ‘No, back to the drawing board.’”

In the first of a two-part series of guest lessons, ROB ZOMBIE and ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5 (real name: John William Lowery) takes U.K.’s Total Guitar magazine on a shortcut to shred mastery. Check out the footage below.

John 5 recently spoke to Artisan News about his forthcoming solo album, an all-star affair which is tentatively due in 2014.

Rob Zombie is obviously my priority, and everything I do is just when he’s doing a movie or something like that,” he said. “And you know, I never play live with anyone else, I never tour, ’cause I never wanna confuse anyone. I’m just a writer. So as soon as they see a credit — ‘Oh, John 5 wrote on this Ricky Martin song,’ or whatever like that — then that will… So it doesn’t really get in the way. But I love doing my instrumental records and people really enjoy ‘em, so I’m always working on those. I’m working on one right now. I’ve got Elton John‘s bass player doing stuff. I mean, I have a bunch of guest stars on this one, so it’s gonna be really good.”

Regarding how his upcoming album will be different from his last effort, 2012′s “God Told Me To”, John 5 said: “The last one was half acoustic, half electric and I always like to change it up, so this one, I’m just gonna have a bunch of guest stars. So I’m gonna start asking my friends for favors and all this stuff. ‘Hey, come on in. I watched your house and I let your dog out that one time, so come play on my record.’ So I’m gonna start my long list of people to come and play. I think it’s fun.”

He continued: “These albums are a lot of fun. I just do ‘em for the love of guitar and to inspire a couple of people on the way… I just really enjoy doing that. It’s great. It was one of the smartest things I’ve ever done. Right when I left MANSON, I was, like, ‘OK, so I guess I’ll finally make my instrumental record.’ And it did really well, and I’m on my sixth one. And I don’t do them for money or anything — I just do them for the love of the guitar — and I think the audience really can see that. I’ll do something like a Chet Atkins song and then some crazy death metal-type song. So it’s a very wide range of music; there’s no format and there’s no rules.”

In The Now Magazine conducted an interview with the LOVE & DEATH, the band led by KORN guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, at the Aftershock festival, which took place September 14-15 at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California. You can now watch the chat below.

LOVE & DEATH‘s debut album, “Between Here & Lost”, will be re-released on September 24 as a “deluxe” edition containing a brand new track, “Empty”, along with remixes of the songs “The Abandoning” and “Meltdown” by the CD’s producer, Jasen Rauch (RED, BREAKING BENJAMIN).

“Between Here & Lost” sold around 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 95 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was originally issued on January 22 via Tooth & Nail Records.

Recorded in Nashville with Rauch and mixed by Paul Pavao, Ben Grosse (MARILYN MANSON, DISTURBED) and Jim Monti (KORN), “Between Here & Lost” consists of 11 tracks, ranging from songs about personal struggle and triumph (“Chemicals”, “My Disaster”, “Paralyzed”) to emotionally charged anthems (“Fading Away”, “Watching The Bottom Fall”) to a riff-heavy rendition of DEVO‘s 1980 hit “Whip It”.

LOVE AND DEATH is comprised of Welch, lead guitarist JR Bareis, bassist Michael Valentine, and drummer Dan Johnson.

Like the album title suggests, “Between Here & Lost” captures the honesty of light and darkness, beauty and tragedy, good and evil, delivered by a band with intense passion and commitment to the message of its music.

“This record was birthed from trials, tribulations, pain, suffering, anxiety, depression, and drama,” stated Welch. “However, we came out on top and the end result is a very real, raw and honest record. We are so stoked for people to hear it! From our opening song, ‘The Abandoning’, to our cover of DEVO‘s ‘Whip it’, to our collaboration with Mattie Montgomery from FOR TODAY on ‘I W8 4 U’, It’s an exciting piece of art and the listener will feel the different range of emotions with the lyrics and melodies of each song.”

LOVE AND DEATH formed when Welch decided to have open auditions on YouTube in 2009. “I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix,” says Welch. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a few lineup changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of LOVE AND DEATH.”

The Dude of the 106.5 KWHL radio station conducted an interview with Pennsylvanian rockers HALESTORM before their August 23 concert at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer. You can now watch the chat below.

HALESTORM will release a new EP called “ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVerRs eP” on October 15. The six-song EP follows up 2011′s “ReAniMate”, which featured the band’s renditions of songs by SKID ROW, GUNS N’ ROSES, LADY GAGA and THE BEATLES. The new collection will feature tracks originally written and recorded by JUDAS PRIEST, DAFT PUNK, AC/DC, PAT BENATAR, FLEETWOOD MAC and MARILYN MANSON.

The Pulse Of Radio asked Lzzy Hale if the band had ever been denied permission to record a song for one of these EPs. “We were denied after the fact, actually, on the last cover EP,” she said. “We thought we had gotten approval for ‘Out Ta Get Me’ by GUNS N’ ROSES, and apparently everybody had approved it but Axl [Rose] — but nobody told him. So we had recorded it, we released it, and then he found out and I guess — what was the stipulation? We, like, could do it digitally but not physically, which I thought was kind of weird.”

Hale said about the new EP, “Like our first ‘ReAniMate’ EP, the songs included here are a collection of both our favorite songs and songs to challenge ourselves. We decided to go more ‘bare bones’ with this EP, meaning minimal production with live, gritty performances. We recorded this EP the week of the Grammys, so the excitement and debauchery you hear through your speakers is very real.”

HALESTORM won the Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” for the track “Love Bites (So Do I)”, from the band’s second album, “The Strange Case Of…”

The latest single from the 2012 release is “Here’s To Us”, which was also featured on a February 2012 episode of “Glee”.

HALESTORM is currently on a North American tour that ends in early October, after which the band will head to Europe. But they’ll be back in late November for one more round of North American shows to finish out the year.

Professionally filmed video footage of former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach‘ September 19 performance at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil can be seen below.

Acclaimed drummer Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, RIOT, SEBASTIAN BACH, FATES WARNING) recently finished laying down drum tracks for 12 songs on the new solo album from Sebastian Bach. The CD is being recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, ALICE COOPER), who helmed Bach‘s last solo CD, 2011′s “Kicking & Screaming”.

The guitars on Bach‘s new album will be performed by Devin Bronson (AVRIL LAVIGNE, PINK) and Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL). There will also be songwriting contributions from guitarist John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, ex-MARILYN MANSON), who co-wrote the song “TunnelVision” on “Kicking & Screaming”. Making a guest appearance on the CD will be bassist Duff McKagan (DUFF MCKAGAN’S LOADED, VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N’ ROSES).

Bach previously stated about his new material: “It is going to be balls-out, kick-ass rock ‘n’ roll with tons of vocal histrionics and harmonies especially… I am going to really concentrate on harmonies and pushing my voice to the maximum you have ever heard it pushed. The riffs are crazy and cool.”

Bach‘s brand new CD/DVD package, “ABachalypse Now”, was released in North America on March 26 via Frontiers Records. The “ABachalypse Now” Ultimate CD/DVD Edition includes never-before-seen footage from last year’s Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Dessel, Belgium, the full never-before-seen Hellfest set from France and the fully-remixed and remastered Nokia show from Los Angeles (originally broadcast on AXS TV), as well as bonus music videos. The DVD contains a running time of nearly 160 minutes. “ABachalypse Now” was made available in two configurations: the Ultimate CD/DVD Edition (2 CDs + DVD) and a standalone DVD.
