ALTER BRIDGE will release a new live CD, DVD and Blu-ray entitled “Live In Milan” in early June. The show was taped at the legendary Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy on November 12, 2013 in front of a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 fans. Shot in beautiful HD with 18 cameras and directed by award-winning filmmaker and longtime ALTER BRIDGE director Daniel E. Catullo III, the show includes 18 songs off all four of the band’s studio albums. One of the tracks, an acoustic rendition of the ALTER BRIDGE song “Watch Over You”, features a special guest appearance by HALESTORM‘s Lzzy Hale.

A trailer for “Live In Milan” can be seen below.

ALTER BRIDGE celebrated its 10th anniversary on January 6 with the release of “Alter Bridge X”, a massive, 27-disc box set that was limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. The set includes all four ALTER BRIDGE studio albums, along with DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl audio copies of “Live From Amsterdam” and “Live At Wembley”, including a 3D version of the latter. Also in the box was every webisode to date, hours of unreleased interviews and documentary footage, a coffee table book, a signed poster, and much more.

The complete set contains 16 DVDs/Blu-rays, seven CDs and four vinyl discs.

The hardcover coffee table book contains more than 100 pages of exclusive photos spanning the group’s decade-long career.

The 3,000 copies were split between 1,500 for Europe, 1,000 for the U.S. and 500 for the rest of the world.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a headlining tour of Europe in support of its latest album, “Fortress”, which featured the Active Rock Top 15 single “Addicted To Pain”.

ALTER BRIDGE was started by the three instrumental members of CREED and guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse Of Radio how ex-MAYFIELD FOUR singer Myles Kennedy became the final piece of the puzzle. “When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy’s, you know, not doing anything right now and he’s this good?” he said. “I made demos and sent ’em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we’ve been a band ever since.”

Journalist and musician Barbara Caserta of Italy’s Linearock conducted a 30-minute video interview with drummer Mike Portnoy (THE WINERY DOGS, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB) prior to THE WINERY DOGS‘ concert at Live Club in Trezzo sull’Adda, Milan, Italy. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked what led to his departure from ADRENALINE MOB, the band featuring Russell Allen (vocals; also of SYMPHONY X) and Mike Orlando (guitar), Portnoy said: “I’m very proud of the album I made with ADRENALINE MOB and I think that there was really a great chemistry there; it was a great band. I was definitely behind it. I spent two years of my life developing it and trying my best. But at the end of the day, I came out of DREAM THEATER wanting to do a lot of different things, and I wasn’t ready to commit exclusively to any one band. I had just spent 25 years with one band — and side projects, obviously, but committed to one band. And I said right from the beginning I was gonna plant many different musical seeds and see which grew, and that would kind of dictate where I would go and what I would do. And I spent a good solid two years giving my all to ADRENALINE MOB. But it only blossomed a little; I kept waiting for it to truly blossom and waiting for touring opportunities to come around, which never happened, and waiting for certain things to happen that never happened, so when it came time for them to start to want to do a new record, it’s, like, well, I have five months of THE WINERY DOGS dates on the calendar, so I had to make a decision; I couldn’t be in two places at the same time. Luckily, up until now, I’ve been able to juggle all these different things and make the schedules work out, but finally it came to a head where it’s, like, ‘OK, do I do a record with ADRENALINE MOB or do I tour with THE WINERY DOGS?’ And it’s, like, well, ADRENALINE MOB is not really growing fast enough. I don’t have time to get into a van and play to a hundred people a night for the next ten years to develop this when I have other opportunities and things like THE WINERY DOGS and other things that are offering opportunities and situations that I need to follow through with. So I haf to make a decision, and one shoe had to drop, and unfortunately, it happened to be ADRENALINE MOB.”

He continued: “[They’re a] great band, and I would have loved to have done more if they could have worked around my schedule, but I understand that they wanna keep working. So I had to make a decision and THE WINERY DOGS has a lot of buzz and opportunity and possibility and potential, so I didn’t want to not give it a fair chance.”

In a recent interview with Brazil’s “Wikimetal”, Allen stated about Portnoy‘s departure from ADRENALINE MOB: “He’s been, obviously, real busy with THE WINERY DOGS, which is his next band that he’s doing. The truth of it is we wanna keep working, we wanna keep doing ADRENALINE MOB and we don’t wanna wait around for Mike to have the time [to put into ADRENALINE MOB]. And he doesn’t know when he will have the time again, so that’s really what’s going down. Mike Portnoy was asked to be in the band by myself. Me and Orlando had already written all the material, so [ADRENALINE MOB‘s debut album] ‘Omertá’ was completely finished before Mike joined the act. And it’s a bummer, but he’s got his sights on other things, and he’s not gonna stick around. So we wish him the best of luck, but the MOB‘s gotta go on.”

ADRENALINE MOB‘s most recent touring and recording lineup also included DISTURBED bassist John Moyer

ADRENALINE MOB released “Covertá”, an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the group’s favorite songs, on March 12.

DJ Marco Garavelli of Linearock and Radio Lombardia conducted an interview with former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen at Radio Lombardia Studios in Milan, Italy. You can now watch the chat below.

Tarja Turunen released a new single, “Victim Of Ritual”, as a digital download, CD single and on seven-inch vinyl on July 12 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.

An evocative snare-drum that sounds like it was coming from a mysterious place, the tender sound of an orchestra joins followed by a familiar and seductive melody played by an oboe. When Tarja‘s distinctive voice resounds through the speakers, her warm timbre fills the room. Her melody is full of emotions and tender, before the song explodes into an epic, heavy chorus: “Hysterical, tragical, Victim of ritual, Cynical, critical, Victim of ritual, She’s a killer, killer, She’s a killer, killer.”

Inspired by the one-movement orchestral piece “Boléro” by Maurice Ravel, the almost-six-minutes-long “Victim Of Ritual” is the first single from Tarja‘s forthcoming album, “Colours In The Dark”.

Both physical releases will surely become rare collector’s items, being made available in strictly limited quantities. The four-song digipak CD-single is limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, whereas the two-track sevn-inch vinyl is limited to only 1,500 units worldwide.

“Victim Of Ritual” 7″ vinyl track listing:

Side A: Victim Of Ritual
Side B: Victim Of Ritual (First Demo)

“Victim Of Ritual” maxi single track listing:

01. Victim Of Ritual
02. Victim Of Ritual (first demo)
03. I Walk Alone (live from Luna Park)
04. Underneath (live from Luna Park)

“Colours In The Dark” will be released in Europe on August 23 via earMUSIC. The CD wil be made available in North America on August 27 through Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records.

The cover artwork for “Colours In The Dark” was created by Dirk Rudolph and can be seen below. Also available is the artwork that will grace the CD’s “special edition.”

Despite her light and shiny personality, Tarja‘s music has always been dressed “in black” — the color of heavy rock, of mystery and elegance.

With Tarja‘s new album, fans will find out what happens when a splice of color is added to the mix. Or — better said — when the full-color spectrum enters the picture it does not cover the black but makes it shine through with many emotions and landscapes.

Following up on the success of the multi-platinum and gold-awarded previous records “My Winterstorm” (2007) and “What Lies Beneath” (2010), Tarja finally returns with her long-awaited new rock album.

Mixed and mastered by Tim Palmer (PEARL JAM, U2) in Austin, Texas, the songs on “Colours In The Dark” do not shy away from taking a risk and surprising musical turns, introducing new sounds and new musical atmospheres. Still, they maintain a heaviness that will surely bring a big smile to the hardest of rockers. With its grand orchestra and choir arrangements, Tarja‘s next milestone emphasizes once again the impressive vocal range of the Finnish artist and shows her artistic growth. With ten brand new songs and over one hour of music, “Colours In The Dark” is definitely going to be one of the brightest moments for rock in 2013.

In a recent interview with the Music Legends web site, Turunen stated about her upcoming CD: “I have just recently found my style and sound so I would like to establish it with the third studio album. The elements on the album will remain the same as in my previous albums, also the versatile style of songs. I like to keep the big dynamic changes between my songs, so that album songs feel radically different from each other.

“I am not stressed at all this time, even though I am producing the album on my own again. I have been lucky to gather around a group of musicians who are willing to work with me, so everything is going smoothly.”

Tarja and her husband/manager Marcelo Cabuli recently became the parents of their first child.

“Act I” was released in North America on September 4, 2012 in 2-CD, 2-DVD and Blu-ray format via the Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records, in conjunction with earMUSIC.

Tarja‘s sophomore solo album, “What Lies Beneath”, sold around 1,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 24 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Rock Rebel Magazine recently conducted an interview with guitarist Jeff Waters of Canadian thrash metal veterans ANNIHILATOR in Milan, Italy. You can now watch the chat below.

ANNIHILATOR filmed a video for the song “No Way Out” earlier this month in Hannover, Germany. The track comes off the band’s 14th studio album, “Feast”, which will be released on August 23 in Europe and August 27 in North America via UDR. The deluxe eco-book version will also feature a bonus CD containing 15 of the best ANNIHILATOR songs re-recorded in 2012… a grand total of 24 songs in one package… with a 3D cover!

Jeff Waters and his bandmates tear through each release with honest, raw power and energy, along with excellent technical skill, giving the metal world the most-tasteful mixtures of huge, metal riffs with the idea of the perfect song and some legendary solo shredding as the icing on the cake. That’s why Jeff and ANNIHILATOR have been a major influence on countless well-known metal acts and musicians around the world. Tours with everyone from JUDAS PRIEST to PANTERA to TRIVIUM, plus dozens of headlining tours and festivals around the world, have been going on steady since 1989 for this band; no rest as the demand for this band never ends.
