More behind-the-scenes footage from the making of “The Monster Within”, the fourth album from Stockholm, Sweden-based melodic death metallers DEGRADEAD, can be seen below. Released on August 23 via Metalville, the CD was recorded between January 14 and February 2 at Panic Room studios in Skara with producer Thomas “Plec” Johansson and marks the group’s first release with new drummer Amit Mohla. According to the band, “This album ended up being the best DEGRADEAD album so far! More dynamic, more melodic, more thrashy, more of everything!”

Commented Johansson: “It has been great going back to the roots even on this one. No drum triggers or sample replacements used whatsoever, which is otherwise so commonplace in today’s metal productions. We did it the hard way, with getting the right sounds from the start and having Amit actually playing the parts until we got the takes we needed, tuning the drums in between takes, switching snares for different songs etc… No plugins were used in the process either other than for very surgical tasks and special FX. All other processing are real chambers, hardware reverbs, delays, compression and EQ. Five times more work, but five times more fun and inspiring plus it’s five times more fun to listen to.”

“The Monster Within” track listing:

01. One Against All
02. The Monster Within
03. For Better Or Worse
04. Dead Will Come Alive
05. We’ll Meet Again
06. The Dark Mind
07. Strive To Struggle
08. Scars Of Misery
09. Tendency To Sin
10. Sorrow Never Survives

The “For Better Or Worse” video can be seen below.

DEGRADEAD‘s singer, Mikael Sehlin, recently joined fellow Swedes ENGEL as their new frontman.

Regarding what impact Sehlin‘s addition to ENGEL will have on his status in DEGRADEAD, DEGRADEAD said: “Mikael is still our vocalist and he is still 100% dedicated to DEGRADEAD and this will not affect DEGRADEAD.”

DEGRADEAD‘s third album, “A World Destroyer”, was released in North America on June 28, 2011 via Metalville Records.

On August 6, 2010, DEGRADEAD played for their first time at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken. Germany. Their full set, as performed on the W.E.T Stage before an enthusiastic audience, along with many extras, is included on the DVD release, “Live At Wacken And Beyond”, which was released on February 28, 2012 via Metalville Records. The disc also contains “From Tullinge To Hyderabad”, a 50-minute documentary following DEGRADEAD from their first years in Tullinge, a small suburb south of Stockholm where the band was formed, to their successful tour of India in February 2011. It includes interviews, live clips and a lot of other “interesting stuff for the fans.”

Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE will release their new album, “In The Minds Of Evil”, on November 26 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER).

“In The Minds Of Evil” track listing:

01. In The Minds Of Evil
02. Thou Begone
03. Godkill
04. Beyond Salvation
05. Misery Of One
06. Between The Flesh And The Void
07. Even The Gods Can Bleed
08. Trample The Cross
09. Banished By Evil
10. Kill The Light Of Christ
11. End The Wrath Of God

DEICIDE drummer Steve Asheim recently told Decibel magazine about the band’s working relationship with Suecof: “It’s awesome! I’ve known Jason since ’08. I had been going out to do the ORDER OF ENNEAD records with him. The last DEICIDE record we did with Mark [Lewis], but I’ve known Jason a long time, so I asked him if he was into it. He said, ‘Absolutely!’ I wanted to get one done ovith him before something happens. You never know.”

Regarding the lyrical themes covered on the new DEICIDE album, Asheim said: “[The lyrics] are typical Glen Benton. Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We’re going to get down and dirty this Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We’re going to get down and dirty this time around, so expect the lyrics to be brutal.”

According to Asheim, longtime fans will pick up on nuances inspired by the almighty “Legion” effort. “Jason wanted to capture the ‘Legion’ feel,” the drummer said. “We’re wanting Glen‘s vocals to sound more old-school. So, it’s a bit of the new with a little throwback action.”

As for DEICIDE‘s time at Audiohammer, Asheim said: “It’s pretty cut-and-dried these days. I’ve known Jason a few years. I kind of know his methodology, how he works. It’s a far drive, so we’ll spend two or three nights there. Once we knock it out, we’ll end up partying. We repeat that the next day.”

“To Hell With God” sold 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

DEICIDE‘s previous CD, “Till Death Do Us Part”, opened with 2,900 copies back in May 2008.
