DrugMetal.ru conducted an interview with reformed industrial metal pioneers GODFLESH prior to their August 24 concert at Moscow Hall in Moscow, Russia. You can now watch the chat below.

GODFLESH will release its first new recording in over 12 years through Decibel magazine’s Flexi Series in October. A cover of the track “F.O.D. (Fuck of Death)” by legendary death thrashers SLAUGHTER (Canada) will be included in the subscriber version of the magazine’s November issue (streeting October 5).

You can now stream the track at this location.

In a recent interview with the French radio station Le 106, GODFLESH‘s Justin Broadrick stated about the band’s forthcoming album — which is tentatively titled “A World Lit Only By Fire” and due in May 2014 — “It will be [musically] similar to the first two or three [GODFLESH albums]. I just think, like we’re playing these shows, we feel very pure about we’re doing and honoring the initial intentions with what we originally set out to do. Which, I think, like most bands and musicians and all the rest of it, by the time you get on to your fourth album, it’s somewhat of a dilution going on to what you initially tried to achieve. It will definitely sound aggressive and it probably won’t sound like any of the other records we’ve made, but it will have the minimalism of the first few records.”

Added GODFLESH bassist G.C. Green: “It won’t sound like the first two record; it will be more the spirit… When you make records over the years, you change as people, you change as musicians, you progress, you develop and you take other styles on, but I think, having had a break from it and come back to it, it seems that we’ve gone straight back into what the essence of it was originally, and that’s why it feels good.”

Continued Justin: “It’s getting straight back to the core of what this is all about. And I think having a break from it has probably even more inspired… It’s like refocusing and obviously, we’re somewhat older and wiser. It’s gonna be a really interesting record. It’s extremely minimal and very, very brutal — a fairly unforgiving record, really, I think.”

GODFLESH‘s seminal debut full-length album, 1989’s “Streetcleaner”, was remastered and reissued in a deluxe digipak in Europe on June 21, 2010 and in North America on August 10, 2010 via Earache Records.

“Streetcleaner” was GODFLESH‘s second release, proving to be one of the band’s finest and most recognized albums and helping them to become one of the most influential industrial bands ever. Now “Streetcleaner” was brought up to date as a special expanded version, with all tracks remastered by GODFLESH founding member Justin Broadrick. The album also includes a bonus disc featuring 12 previously unreleased live tracks, alternate mixes and demos, and comes housed in a deluxe multi-panel digipak with detailed liner notes.

Fan-filmed video footage of ONSLAUGHT‘s September 4 concert at Plan B in Moscow, Russia can be seen below.

ONSLAUGHT will release its sixth album, “VI”, on September 20 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2011’s “Sounds Of Violence” was mixed by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (TIAMAT, SCAR SYMMETRY) at Panic Room studios in Skara, Sweden.

Comments ONSLAUGHT guitarist Nige Rockett: “Well, the new album, ‘VI’, is finally complete and ready to roll on September 20th, and man, it has exceeded all our expectations, by a long long way!! We really pushed ourselves to the limits in making this record and I think that truly shines through in the final results.

‘VI’ is the most brutal and technical album ONSLAUGHT has ever made, no question. It’s old school, it’s contemporary and it’s fucking aggressive in the extreme, with a few big surprises thrown in for good measure!

“We’ve gone about the whole album-making process with a completely different approach and mindset this time around, ranging from the artwork (by Pär Olofsson) through to the final mixes with Thomas Johansson, who I must single out for mention along with our drummer Michael Hourihan for really upping the ante in the ass-kicking stakes!

“We’re feeling kind of proud right now and pretty confident the fans are gonna dig it too!”

“VI” track listing:

01. A New World Order
02. Chaos Is King
03. Fuel For My Fire
04. Children Of The Sand
05. Slaughterize
06. 66 Fucking 6
07. Cruci-Fiction
08. Dead Man Walking
09. Enemy Of My Enemy

The official lyric video for the song “Chaos Is King” can be seen below.

A bonus track on the limited digipak and 2LP vinyl will be a re-recorded version of “Shellshock” (taken from the 1989 album “In Search Of Sanity”), featuring legendary Japanese thrashers UNITED.

METALLICA members Lars Ulrich (drums) and Robert Trujillo (bass) took part in a news conference and interview at RIA Novosti‘s press center earlier today (Saturday, September 14) before the Russian premiere of their new movie, “Metallica Through The Never”, in Moscow, Russia. Video footage can be seen below. Photos are available at this location.

Trujillo told The Pulse Of Radio that the idea for a METALLICA concert film had been around for a while, but that the band wanted it to have something extra. “We felt that the missing ingredient was obvious to us and it was some sort of narrative,” he said. “There needed to be something that co-existed with the music, so it goes beyond just another concert performance. So we took it a step in a different direction, kind of taking a page from PINK FLOYD ‘The Wall’ or ‘Song Remains The Same’ by LED ZEPPELIN, somehow creating our own version of that. And really it was trial and error.”

The 3D IMAX film will also play at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas several days before it opens in limited release on IMAX screens around the country on September 27. The film will then expand to more theaters on October 4.

The soundtrack, which features a number of METALLICA classics performed live in the movie, will be out on September 24. The two-disc CD will come out on METALLICA‘s own label, Blackened Recordings, also in digital and vinyl formats.

The concert sequences for the movie were shot in August 2012 at two shows in Vancouver, Canada and feature a stage containing elements of many of METALLICA‘s previous live productions from the past 30 years.

FEAR FACTORY members Dino Cazares (guitar), Matt DeVries (bass) and Mike Heller (drums) took part in a signing session and performance at the Muztorg store in Moscow, Russia on August 30. Check out video footage of the event below.

Asked whose idea it was to perform FEAR FACTORY‘s classic classic 1995 sophomore album, “Demanufacture”, on the band’s recently completed Australian tour, vocalist Burton C. Bell told The Rockpit: “It was kinda like a joke at first. Last time we were there for ‘The Industrialist’ on tour, we were playing a lot of tracks from ‘Demanufacture’, and we just thought, ‘Why don’t we just play the whole damn record?’ and the promoter was, like, ‘Oh, that’s actually a great idea. We should plan it properly,’ and blah blah blah, and just started talking about it. And we thought about it, and it was Australia that embraced FEAR FACTORY wholeheartedly first and so Australia was where we received our first silver and gold records for ‘Demanufacture’, so we figured that we’d go to Australia.”

FEAR FACTORY will also perform “Demanufacture” in its entirety aboard the 2014 edition of the world’s biggest heavy metal cruise — 70000 Tons Of Metal — which will sail January 27-31.

FEAR FACTORY‘s new album, “The Industrialist”, sold 9,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “Mechanize”, opened with 10,000 units back in February 2010 to land at No. 72.
