Noisecreep has premiered the new track “The Black Sheep” from the upcoming Deserters album “The Slow Rhythms of a Dead-Beat.” The song can be heard now at this location. Speaking on the track, band frontman Matt Roell stated the following:

“‘The Black Sheep’ is track 10, from our upcoming album, The Slow Rhythms of a Dead-Beat. It is an anthem for anyone who feels like they don’t belong. I can’t pretend anymore, spinning my wheels and working for what? I’d rather be homeless and hate the world first-hand, than sit in my box of an apartment, experiencing life through a television screen. Complacency is a cancer and I’m sick of sitting still.”

“The Slow Rhythms of a Dead-Beat” hits stores September 11th through Mediaskare Records, with exclusive pre-order packages available here. Deserters will begin touring in support of the album in September with a string of dates on the Devastation On The Nation Tour alongside King Conquer, Bermuda, In Dying Arms, and The Last Ten Seconds of Life. Austrian brutal death metal band Mastic Scum has signed a worldwide deal with Massacre Records. The four-piece was originally formed in 1992. A year later, the band released their first 12′ EP “Ephemeral Cerebral Butchery”. Several demos, EPs and split CDs followed, leading to the release of their debut album “Zero” in the summer of 1999 through Noise Variations.

Within the following years, MASTIC SCUM released their albums “Scar” (Cudgel Agency, 2002), “Mind” (Cudgel Agency, 2005) and the latest album “Dust” (Twilight Rec., 2009), which was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2010.

The band has already played a lot of club and festival shows in Europe, Asia and the US, joining Marduk and Vader at their “Funeral Nation Tour” through Europe in early 2010, for example!

There were a few line-up changes in the past years and when Alex joined vocalist Maggo, guitarist Harry and drummer Man in spring 2010 as bassist, MASTIC SCUM were stronger than ever!

Guitarist Harry commented on the signing:

“We are proud to announce that we signed a worldwide deal with one of our favorite labels. We know Massacre Records since quite a long time and are happy to be a part of it now!”

The band’s currently working on their fifth studio album, which is scheduled to be released in fall 2012!

German power metal band Primal Fear announced that guitarist Magnus Karlsson will be temporarily absent from the upcoming Metal Nation Tour due to family obligations. The band has recruited Mystic Prophecy guitarist Constantine (also with Constantine & Nightfall) (seen below).

The following was posted on the band’s Facebook page:

On a less happy note we need to announce that Magnus will be temporarily absent from the forthcoming live shows due to family obligations. Don’t ask reg. the matter, this is serious and very private – Bottom Line!

It’s tough for us to replace Magnus on the next shows as a guitarist, but it’s even harder to replace his wonderful character. We’ve searched for the last couple of days for the best possible substitute and decided to recruit Constantine – a 24 year old phenomenal talent from Greece. Check out his FB page and his songs and give him a warm welcome. After the current rehearsals we’re sure he will NOT disappoint!

CU on tour – Unbreakable!

3 has completed work on the band’s new album, “The Ghost You Gave to Me.” The album was recorded at Applehead Studios (Coheed and Cambria, Morningwood, Straylight Run) in Woodstock, NY. Metal Blade Records commented on the creation of the album:

“Following the release of ‘Revisions’ and after several tours with Porcupine Tree and an epic run on the first Progressive Nation Tour with Dream Theater, Opeth and Between the Buried and Me, 3 returned home brimming with inspiration. Joey Eppard, Billy Riker, Daniel Grimsland and The Gartdrumm immediately began creating demos of ideas that would evolve into ‘The Ghost You Gave to Me.’ It wasn’t long before the songs took on a life of their own. The band found themselves growing out of the standard rock compositional format into something more cinematic in nature.”

Joey Eppard adds: “The songs told us where to go and the instrumentation followed. We knew this record would be our most progressive but it would be on our terms, and in our own way. As always songwriting and melody are the driving forces behind the sounds capes we generate. I think the biggest challenge was to rise to the occasion lyrically with so many musical scene changes. What I found was that I had to let go and allow the words and melody to be as creative and original as the music, if not more so. In a progressive situation this can be time consuming and indeed the bulk of my efforts were focused on exceeding my own lyrical standards. For example, ‘Only Child,’ an eight minute epic that traverses a myriad of musical scenes has enough great lyrics for half a record.”

“The Ghost You Gave to Me” is set for release on October 11th and the track listing is as follows:

1. Sirenum Scopuli
2. React
3. Sparrow
4. High Times
5. Numbers
6. One With the Sun
7. The Ghost You Gave to Me
8. Pretty
9. Afterglow
10. It’s Alive
11. Only Child
12. The Barrier

3 will be touring the east coast in September alongside Within Temptation. Details are as follows:

09/07 Toronto, ON The Sound Academy
09/08 Montreal, QC Metropolis
09/09 Worcester, MA Palladium
09/10 New York, NY Terminal 5
09/12 Baltimore, MD Ram’s Head Live
09/13 Philadelphia, PA Electric Factory

OF MICE & MEN are not breaking up – just reshuffling their lineup. As previously announce OF MICE & MEN are reuniting with their original lineup. Starting March 10, Of Mice & Men will be headlining the 2011 Artery Foundation Across The Nation Tour with guests Isetmyfriendsonfire, Sleeping With Sirens, Woe, Is Me and The Amity Affliction.

So an entire year of touring on our debut album has come to an end and the approaching date of entering the studio to make our next album has come closer and closer, it’s become time for us to decide the kind of album we want to make, for us, as well as for all of you!

With having recently made amends with our original vocalist, Austin Carlile, and not after discussing all of our previous disputes and issues we’ve had with each other (like any other relationship, its not always a friendly exchange of happy words) we’ve collectively decided to return to, or as close to, our original lineup as we could.

Now, we knew this was going to be a huge surprise to everyone and an unexpected turn of events for Of Mice & Men. We had to take into account the response our fans had to our necessity to change screamers in order to continue touring as well as what we felt comfortable with as a group in and out of the studio as well as what our management/label/booking agency team (yes we include them in almost any decision we make, we are a close family, a relationship we are extremely grateful for) felt was a good decision to make for the business aspect while taking into account our personal well being.

To be put simply, both Of Mice & Men and Austin want to make another album together because we want give our fans the familiar sound they loved about our first album and build upon that for our follow up. We were willing to put our differences aside and re-establish our friendship and love for making music together. We also want to give you all the chance to hear our first album the way it was intended to be heard since due to prior circumstances…well, that’s all in the past now!

We greatly appreciate all of our fans sticking with us in 2010 and supporting the band with Jerry. We are also very grateful that he stepped up to the plate for us and helped us get through the relentless touring schedule we had. With that being said, we are all extremely excited to be reunited and are going to make another album we are proud of, just like the first and we hope you are too! There’s no behind the scenes anything, no huge fall out or disrespect towards anyone, contrary to what you may think or have read/heard. We just want to make the best album we possibly can and we are confident that together, with the reformed lineup, we will be able to make something amazing.

We have also added a new member, Alan Ashby, who will be playing guitar. Assuming the position of bass will be Shayley which as many of you saw on a couple Warped Tour dates was an easy transition for him. He will, of course, still be singing. Tino is on drums, Phil is on guitar and Austin is screaming. A freshly reformed Of Mice & Men for 2011.
