MÖTLEY CRÜE held a press conference on January 28 at Hotel Roosevelt in Los Angeles where they announced that the band will launch its “Final Tour” later this year, with the group planning to play 72 shows in North America in 2014 and more overseas in 2015. Making it official, the four members of the band had their lawyer draw up a formal “cessation of touring” agreement that goes into effect at the end of 2015 and prohibits the members of the group from going on the road again under the MÖTLEY CRÜE banner.

No mention was made of whether the CRÜE will record a new album to go along with the tour, although the group hinted at the possibility.

During an appearance on the March 3 edition of Eddie Trunk‘s show “Trunk Nation” on SiriusXM‘s Hair Nation, MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars revealed: “I just wrote a new song with Nikki [Sixx, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist], and we’re gonna be finishing it up, like, within the next couple of months. There’ll be a new single [released in time for the upcoming tour].”

Sixx in January said that that it’s unlikely that the band will release another full-length album of new material and will instead make select tracks available via special projects in order to maximize their impact.

“My take on it right now and the way that things work is very much reverted back to the ’60s where people buy singles,” Mars told Trunk. “I don’t want an album full of fillers. And that’s why I said I would release [a solo] EP or singles.”

Sixx told the Rapid City, South Dakota radio station 95.1 KSKY: “We have music written, [but] it’s not put together yet.” He added: “It’s hard, to be honest with you, to spend six [or] nine months to write eleven songs — all those lyrics… everything… the vocals, the guitars, the bass, the sonics, the mixing, the mastering, the artwork… You put it out and nothing [happens], because now people cherry-pick songs. So we go, ‘Why don’t we write songs and find vehicles to get one, two or four songs to ten million people rather than eleven songs to a hundred thousand people. That’s how we’re thinking. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but that’s how we’re thinking.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE in 2012 released a brand new song called “Sex” to coincide with the launch of the band’s North American co-headlining tour with KISS.

Written when the group was together during their residency in Las Vegas in February 2012, “Sex” was the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of “Saints Of Los Angeles”. The song was recorded at MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee‘s studio called The Atrium in Calabasas, California.

The Pulse Of Radio reports that Ozzy Osbourne‘s mansion in Buckinghamshire, England has been ruined by flooding during one of the U.K.’s rainiest winters ever. According to the Mirror, the house, which sits on a seven-acre estate, is located in one of the hardest hit areas of the country and now needs more than half a million dollars worth of repairs.

Ozzy‘s wife and manager Sharon said the building was “destroyed,” while Ozzy added, “It’s been completely flooded. The rain has battered down the walls and seeped through everything. There is water everywhere… We can’t even go about getting it fixed because apparently it’s going to take nine months to dry out. The place is ruined.”

The water damage is the latest incident to plague the Osbournes at their English countryside retreat. Others have included Ozzy‘s all terrain vehicle crash in 2003, two fires and a burglary.

While they wait to see if the house in England can be salvaged, the Osbournes will stay at their Los Angeles home — which itself was the site of a small fire in January 2013.

Ozzy begins a short North American tour with BLACK SABBATH on March 31 in Brooklyn, New York.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s video for the song “Hail To The King” can be seen below. The clip was directed by Syndrome, an award-winning design and live-action directing studio.

“Hail To The King” will be released on August 27. The long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s “Nightmare” was once again produced by Mike Elizondo and is the first to be wholly written without drummer and key songwriter James “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Sullivan has since been replaced by Arin Ilejay, a former member of CONFIDE.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has announced the “Hail To The King” tour — a massive headlining U.S. arena tour to take place this October and the band’s first full scale American tour since 2011. The run of dates will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, October 3 and wrap up on October 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Supporting the band on all dates will be special guests DEFTONES and GHOST B.C.

“Hail To The King” track listing:

01. Shepherd Of Fire
02. Hail To The King
03. Doing Time
04. This Means War
05. Requiem
06. Crimson Day
07. Heretic
08. Coming Home
09. Planets
10. Acid Rain

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will celebrate the album release by playing a free show at the Hollywood Palladium on August 26.

“Hail To The King” lyrics:

Watch your tongue or have it cut from your head
Save your life by keeping whispers unsaid
Children roam the streets now orphans of war
Bodies hanging in the streets to adore
Royal flames will carve a path in chaos, bringing daylight to the night
Death is riding into town with armor, they’ve come to take all your rights

Hail to the King
Hail to the One
Kneel to the crown
Stand in the sun
Hail to the King
Hail, Hail, Hail the King

Blood is spilt while holding keys to the throne.
Born again but it’s too late to atone.
No mercy — from the edge of the blade
Dare escape and learn the price to be paid
Let the water flow with shades of red now, Arrows black out all the light
Death is riding into town with armor, they’ve come to grant you your rights

Hail to the King
Hail to the One
Kneel to the crown
Stand in the sun
Hail to the King
Hail, Hail, Hail the King

There’s a taste of fear
When the henchmen call
Iron fist to tame the land
Iron fist to claim it all

Hail to the King
Hail to the One
Kneel to the crown
Stand in the sun
Hail to the King
Hail, Hail, Hail the King

California-based traditional metal revivalists HOLY GRAIL have announced the cancelation of the last two weeks worth of shows with VALIENT THORR, ROYAL THUNDER and THEKICKASS “due to multiple levels of shit we gotta handle back home and this monstrous album that’s been lurking over our heads the past nine months.”

Belphegor is currently working with Erik Rutan on a new album and follow-up to “Blood Magick Necromance” (reviewed here). As work on the album progresses, vocalist Helmuth recently conducted an interview with Metal Sucks to discuss his recent health issues. Excerpts from the interview follow.

Metal Sucks: How are you feeling?

Helmuth: Way better than a few months ago. I am recovering, slowly. It’s getting better each month.

Metal Sucks: I know you had to cancel some tour dates due to a lung infection back in the fall but what was the extent of your illness? What were you struggling with?

Helmuth: I had to cancel all shows and tours for the last nine months. It wasn’t a winning situation. Seriously, I never expected anything like this. Who does? It’s like a punch in the face. I got a typhus infection in Brazil. I guess it was from drinking water from the sink. What are you going to do when you wake up in the morning after hard drinking and have a raging hangover? Yes, I know, not very smart in the end. I was not vaccinated against typhus. The virus killed my lungs. As we toured Brazil, I didn’t know what was going on. I thought day by day it would get better. On the contrary, it got worse. Breathing was difficult. The last shows were tough, full of pain, vomiting and fever. But we played the last two shows with Morbid Angel. Hey, you can’t say “no, we’re cancelling.”

After eight shows in Brazil, we flew to Venezuela. I couldn’t lift my guitar case anymore, so that was the first time that I went to the hospital. I couldn’t play the show but Columbia was on the plan. I still thought, it will get better… sick, man. I was totally done, couldn’t do the last three shows in Columbia; sorry to all the people involved. I am a fighter, I never cancel shows as long as I can stand on my damn feet, but it was over. It was four days of pain and fever, lying in the bed in Bogota, followed by two damn international flights back to Austria. When we arrived I was totally done; it wasn’t possible to lift my hand luggage.

They put me in intensive care for ten days, to prepare for an operation. There was a lot of water in the heart, liver and legs – everywhere. I looked like a sumo wrestler. Besides my lungs, there was also heart damage. So I had an open heart and chest operation. I could fill a book, man.

Metal Sucks: How did you recover? Were you ever close to death?

Helmuth: Man, I fought five weeks to get my life back. Five weeks in the hospital – three times in intensive care, then six weeks rehab – step by step, I tried to get my life back. I have rock hard will and discipline, otherwise I wouldn’t be here anymore.
